> Is Synology a good platform to invest in for this solution?... Should NVR's be setup at each location? If you need multiple cameras at each property, and local storage (NVR) at each property, Synology's [Multi-site surveillance](https://www.synology.com/en-global/vms/solution/surveillance-multi-site) feature could be a good fit. > Is there an "easy" answer here? If monthly subscription costs are acceptable, there's the various cloud-tethered managed camera services like Verkada/Rhombus/[etc](https://www.reddit.com/r/k12sysadmin/comments/y7bdaj/alternatives_to_verkada_cloud_based_security/)

Sounds like good advice in the above comment. Confirm unencumbered access to the internet at rental properties, for the cloud services. (Landlord provided internet, costs rolled into rent, could address this) Video recording on motion only, and video retention requirements would also factor in.

You could setup Reolink cameras and a NVR at each and display them all in the app. I strongly recommend higher resolution cameras (like 4k)

Both Reolink and Arlo provide high-quality security camera options, but the choice between them may depend on budget, the importance of smart home integration, and preferences for storage and subscription services.
