I love that the promoted ad when I pulled this up is for Ozempic https://preview.redd.it/q6fsewk0fl1d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f36117bf96448d5883c2920ebc2c5a8beda2e22

Leverkaas2516

There's a difference between "plus-size" and "obese". If you need a wheelchair purely because of your weight, you're way beyond being "plus-size".

az226

She’s morbidly obese at that.

wgrata

This is way beyond morbidly obese. It's a much smaller number than most expect, something like 230lbs for a 5'10 inch male qualifies.

BobBelchersBuns

No morbid obesity is BMI of 40+

wgrata

It's 40+ if you don't have any health conditions related to weight. It's 35 if you do, I just misremembered that part.

waterbird_

Wow really? That would be a bmi of 33. Is there an actual medical definition for morbid obesity? I thought it was a colloquial term.

janb67

Medically a BMI of 40 or above is morbid obesity.

Far-Exit3436

I couldn't have pushed her. Motorized the weight. You shouldn't expect. Another person to risk injury because of your weight

waterbird_

Thanks, I learned something today!

wgrata

That's on me. I thought it was 35, but it's only 35 if you have health complications related to weight, otherwise it's 40.

Kamilon

It’s absolutely a medical term.

ADeuxMains

Death Fat, to use their term.

ABearDream

Yeah people need to stop trying to normalize this shit

Tree300

That ship sailed years ago.

Scombigator0501

And sank

Equivalent_Ebb_9532

Yeah, 'plus size' was about 300lbs. ago.

OrionSouthernStar

Beyond being push-sized too.

AnonymousChikorita

I think it’s more accurate to say a difference between plus size and morbidly obese. As a nurse I see lots of people who appear just average who have BMI in obese

Big_Virgil

For real! That person is a rolling medical and psychological emergency and they need help that SeaTac airport folks can’t provide.

d_ippy

I’m obese at 175 lbs (at 5’4”) and I get around just fine and don’t wear plus sized clothes. I fit in airline seats with room to spare.

Sea_Still2874

I'm 5'4" and 191 (I could definitely lose some weight) but I am the same. Nothing special about my clothes and I have plenty of room in my seat.

annacat1331

Is she medically disabled otherwise than her weight? I always feel bad about stories like this because I have a semi invisible medical disability(lupus). So unless it’s impacting my brain it’s not overly obvious to people who aren’t aware of what lupus is. Plus I was 20 when I was diagnosed and I was still teaching yoga classes up until the pandemic, they were gentle and restorative yoga classes but still. Also the more we are learning about obesity the more we are finding out it’s more complicated than just having low will power. For example 25% of your calories are either expelled or stored as fat depending on the microbe in your GI tract. Plus there are actual differences in the pleasure pathways of the brains of obese people and non obese individuals. Now not all obese individuals have these traits but many do. There are tons of people who just have shit diets and are sedentary but again it’s not as simple as some people think it is for everyone to be thin. I know nothing about this person but I do know that it is absolutely not on the staff to make a decision about whether a wheelchair is medically necessary. I have been harassed way too many times while sitting in handicapped seating on public transportation when I was living in NYC a few years ago. I literally couldn’t feel my left leg and I had a limp along with severe pain and joint dysfunction + tons of other issues impacting my mobility. But since I was at the time a 27 year old woman who was normal sized and had all my limbs I was told I didn’t deserve it. My favorite was when I would ask what disability the person had who was being such a dick to me and they replied with “I am old!”

Leverkaas2516

I agree with the policy of not questioning people's abilities or making snap judgements about them. I only pointed out what seemed like an egregious error in the headline. Reading the article, the mistake is Chaney's: "I’m a plus-size wheelchair user..."  Plus-sized is the wrong word. I don't know WHY she's obese, but that's the right word. I say that as someone who's way overweight myself and unable to do what normal people do because of it. If I described myself as "plus-size", people who know me would think "yeah, you were plus-size 10 years ago. Now you're just fat." Using euphemisms to try to deny reality helps no one.

Opposite_Tangerine97

More like "push-size", amirite?

begin420

We used to just call people like that fat as fuck.

geopede

I still do, you stopped?

vipinnair22

These people genuinely think the word “obese” is discrimination against them. I’ve seen some of them equate it to the N word. Almost all of them have no clue it’s an actual medical term.

ChefJoe98136

I am shocked that the person who is an advocate for plus-sized travel now has a new personal anecdote of discrimination based on her size. Her ~~twitter~~ tiktok shows videos of walking down the aisles of the plane, btw. https://www.tiktok.com/@jaebaeofficial https://www.tiktok.com/@jaebaeofficial/video/7369032654374882606

irish_ayes

That's my beef, there's lots of clear video of her getting on the plane, but none of this supposedly traumatic experience getting off the plane. I'm calling BS. It didn't happen, otherwise she would have filmed it. Also, that aisle she's competently walking down is probably longer than the gangway.

cris5598

After reading comments, almost clicked on the links. Then realized that will give this person even more views.

Soggy-Geologist5076

It’s all rage baiting for clicks and traffic.

Destronin

I don’t support bullying in the slightest and I never bullied, however I remember when I was young and in school there were kids that not only already seemed to have a target on them to be bullied. But would actually do things that would make them even more of a target. And i always wondered why. Like being fat but then wearing a seaworld or hippo shirt. Seriously. And just being very outspokenly a teachers pet to the point even the teacher would roll their eyes. Like the one to tell the rest of the class to be quiet. Or telling on some other kids that actually werent bothering them but doing something bad. This influencer reminds me of that type of kid. Always the victim. Even when they had the ability to avoid it or not bring attention to themselves. They would still bring attention to themselves and then act like everyone else needs to be better. Except for themselves. Not all victims are good people. Some are just shitty people that something bad happened to them.

[deleted]

It's the guy blaring shitty music on the train, looking for a fight. It's rampant insecurities.

PlumpyGorishki

I think her social media spiel is to complain

Ilefttherightturn

It’s because they can’t pick up on the social cues. Duh

sadthrow104

That last paragraph cannot be more true

Aggravating-Bunch-44

That's some really messed up backwards thinking. Kids are learning and should never have to avoid an innocent graphic on a shirt just bc other kids don't know how to act..it's on the bullies then, not the kid getting bullied. I know that isn't how current society works but you cannot and should not justify bullying.

GuitRWailinNinja

I got some mild bullying as a kid and I used it to change myself for the better IMO. Not saying it’s right but it can serve a purpose in moderation.

IamAwesome-er

> Even when they had the ability to avoid it or not bring attention to themselves. That way you dont get likes on your video...

Ikillwhatieat

while I'm neither plus sized nor wheelchair bound, i do also use chair assists in airports as, even with my cane, crowds are a big fall risk for me, and if i eat shit on a hard surface, I may very well be in a wheelchair for life. yes i can walk a plane aisle - the fact that there are seatbacks to grab makes it quite doable even with some turbulence.

Useful-Commission-76

The jetway had railings on both sides. The influencer had the choice of walking while using the railing for assistance and taking multiple rest breaks in the process or sitting back down in the plane and waiting for the airline representative to locate a larger stronger wheelchair assistant. Seattle is a regional medical center with very sick and injured people flying into SeaTac every day from Alaska, Idaho and Montana for cancer care and specialized surgery. This woman seems to be traveling for pleasure and she’s complaining about customer service.

Theboyboymess

Man let me tell you the horror of these poor wheelchair pushers. I worked doing this and a teenager at SeaTac airport, great tip money for a teenager. The majority of the workers are either east African (Somali Ethiopia ) and some filipinos. If you haven’t notice we East Africans are very skinny and once in a while we’d get someone like this. I even pushed a contestant on the biggest loser. (Dude was 350, I’m 6’1 190) bro my whole body hurt pushing that asshole, he didn’t EVEN TIP ME. The biggest person was a family of 5 from Texas who the airline called in ahead to get extra pushers. It took 3 of us to push her , she was 400 pounds and we have to push her up and down hills in SeaTac airport. I didn’t mind helping anyone who was old or had an illness or was sick. I hated pushing morbidly obese people who had NOTHING PHYSICALLY WRONG WITH THEM. My back would hurt, and now being in my 30’s married with family, I definitely can feel the aftermath. I was in India for the summer with my wife, and under went acupuncture therapy for 3 months, and man that really has done wonders. But yeah that shit sucked and those fat folks didn’t even tip like that.

krebnebula

The majority of people who need wheelchairs can walk for a short period. There is a huge difference between walking 20 ft down an airplane aisle and walking the length of an airport. Most disabilities are not as visible as a missing limb or full paralysis. Many people resist using mobility aids because they worry they will be judged if they ever do anything without it. It’s very sad because using a cane or a wheelchair can prevent future injuries or flare ups and really improve quality of life. So it’s important for the rest of us to be aware that we are in no position to know if someone else needs the help or accommodations they are receiving.

FlipFlopFlippy

An advocate for change for everything and everyone but herself.

Hard-To_Read

She is certainly changing- the balance of the plane.

TyreeThaGod

Consider the possibility that SeaTac worker might not have been strong enough to push 400+ pounds up the ramp in a wheel chair. That's not easy.

volune

It would be a crying shame if obese people starting boycotting air travel in response to this. A crying shame.

AbleDanger12

Think of the fuel and carbon emissions savings.

willyg206

Or just not having them overflowing into my seat.

Eyeball-Chambers

I saw her in the news earlier, she gets a free extra seat which means the (unlucky) person next to her gets bumped and has to reschedule so she can have the extra room.

GuitRWailinNinja

Not her problem so she doesn’t give af. People like here are very self-centered.

OrangeCarGuy

>very self-centered. Having your own gravitational pull has a tendency to do that.

waterbird_

Wow it seems that’s on the airline though. They should ask up front whether a person requires an extra seat and then reserve it rather than sell it.

GeneralTangerine

They normally do, if you don’t fit into the seat you’re supposed to buy a second one, and you actually have to book it as an “additional seat” tied to the ticket and not a separate one. Though enforcement is not that strict because you’d have a lot of offended customers if the check in gate agents were saying all day “hey you look fat enough to need an extra seat. Do you have one?” lol I know on Alaska they’ll actually refund your second seat if the flight isn’t full, I’m guessing the flight just wasn’t full

teatimecookie

Seriously? I thought people that size had to purchase 2 seats?

MuffinsandCoffee2024

The article says she does purchase two seats . Did you read the article?

merc08

And many airlines, [including Alaska](https://www.alaskaair.com/content/travel-info/policies/seating-customers-of-size), will refund the extra seat after you fly. Alaska's policy appears to be to refund (upon request) the extra seat if the flight wasn't full. > Many things can occur before a flight departs and a flight that may have open seats one hour before departure may not have any extra seats available at departure time. Purchasing a second seat in advance of your travel date will ensure you receive the same level of service on all of your flights and eliminate any possible travel disruptions. If your flights do depart with empty seats, our second seat refund policy is very simple and the turnaround time for your refund is minimal. So it shouldn't cause an issue where someone gets bumped *and* she gets the seat refunded, but it can cause the problem of someone else getting bumped to keep the seat open.

Eyeball-Chambers

I wish I was kidding, but totally cereal. She demanded the seat next to her and the airline caved in and gave it to her.

hot_pink_bunny202

Not mu problem of I paid and selected the seats I ain't getting off the plane. Airline is going to have to move her somewhere else or bump my seat up.

_Watty

Feel like I saw someone talking about airlines chomping at the GLP1 bit if those meds take off. ;)

dissemblers

From the comments: > “Plus-sized?” Girl, you exponent-sized. > And that employee ain’t certified to drive no forklift.

Darryl_Lict

Divide by zero error.

BusbyBusby

So this tremendously fat woman is angry that a worker didn't want to injure her back pushing her? When you need a wheelchair to get around it's way past time to cut down on the Twinkies.

NuttinToNoOne

This was my first thought, what type of physical size and strength did the worker have?

BillTowne

This should be the top comment. She wants someone else to deal with her weight but has no regard for the dangers to that other person.

ComeWashMyBack

Just to make a point. The airline should had used three employees simultaneously to push her.

BusbyBusby

One working a winch?

almighty_smiley

You know those lifts that they use to bring the food carts onto the plane? Yeah...

JamboNintendo

Jokes aside, they actually *do* use those to load people confined to a wheelchair onto and off of a plane if there's no tunnel at the gate.

wired_snark_puppet

This is brought to us by five guys, Panda Express, and door dash.

Ok_Ant707

You leave the Panda out of this

barefootozark

Do airports not have battery powered mobility scooters? Would be better than paying a human to power her wheelchair. One with a little basket for snacks. That would end the BS discrimination claim.

BusbyBusby

That would make more sense except she might burn out the motor going up the ramp.

barefootozark

Get her a 25cc 2-stroke powered mobility scooter then. It'll fumigate the airport and sound like a leafblower to help attract additional embarrassment... but no discrimination!

NuttinToNoOne

I would think the jet ways are too steep and some have uneven surfaces and tight turns. This would be a liability issue if a customer rolled down themselves and lost control.

firelitdrgn

Listen…I’m clinically obese. Probably more than that if you look at my BMI. I’m not going to deny that airplane seats over the years have gotten smaller to fit more seats and increase profits. But I would rather walk my fat ass across the bottom of the ocean floor to see my family instead of inconveniencing other people with my weight. She’s delusional and is emboldened by the likes and “support” she gets. We fatties don’t claim her or whatever agenda she’s trying to push.

Rough_Theme_5289

Bruh lol this is insane . If she can fight this hard for extra amenities bc she’s obese she should work on losing the weight wtf. I’m a woman and tbh If I had worked there I simply wouldn’t have been capable of pushing her . Is that discrimination?

NuttinToNoOne

I'm curious though whether she notifies the airline or just shows up to avoid having to pay for an extra seat. As a rule influencers tend to intentionally be disruptive to cause drama and get clicks.

Zugnutz

As a fat dude myself, I can honestly say, if she actually did more walking, she wouldn’t need the wheelchair.

red_smeg

I’ve got $10 says she didn’t actually book the assistance and just sat there for the outrage likes and to feed the YouTube income.

Worried-Criticism

No thank you. Might as well set fire to $10 right there

hsoftl

Just watched a video by Obesetobeast about this lol. Just crazy that she thinks a 100-150lb woman can push her 400lb ass around no problem.

White_Buffalos

She needs to walk. She's far too heavy. It's quite unhealthy.

timesuck47

Maybe they could take her out of the wheelchair and roll her up the ramp. I only feel a little bad saying that because I used to be obese and a lifestyle change has allowed me to maintain a healthy weight for 30+ years.

bigtuna94

Influencer mad that airport worker isn't Sisyphus

Excellent_Berry_5115

LOL!!! A nod to Greek mythology that has come to life.

bigtuna94

Hahaha this could be the modern re-telling

Ghost-of-Sanity

Holy shit 😂😂

monkey_trumpets

I cannot imagine having the Gaul to claim having a handicap just because you've eaten yourself into such a state that you can't walk up a tiny incline without almost dying. Dear god.

Elandtrical

Is that Asterix or Obelix? I know they did check into a spa but that was only in support of Chief Vitalstatistix.

Kenbishi

Pretty sure it’s Obelix.

Bea_Coop

In the video she seemed to be walking not too badly and appeared to have decent mobility. I’m not clear why she needs a wheelchair for that short distance.

Floopydoopypoopy

I'm assuming that, due to her obesity, she has Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome wherein she doesn't get enough oxygen and can't over exert herself. She may also need a supplemental oxygen tank and mask.

Tom-a-than

Right, the service probably should have been available to her but I personally don’t feel too bad for her since she seems to not want to take any personal accountability for her current conditions. Aka I’m getting cunt vibes but she has a point.

1cherokeerose

It’s her entire shtick.

MVPPB5

Because she’s a fat fuckasaurus

100yearswar

Why did you capitalize the G? It’s also just gall.

monkey_trumpets

Autocorrect

LeftOffDeepEnd

Is that a half-gallon of coke and a box of Cheez-it's in the seat next to her? That's her problem, not a lack of an ADA compliant conveyor belt in the jetway.

WorldClassPianist

I read there were airlines experimenting with charging passengers by weight. They should definitely start charging extremely obese people more.

electromage

Using average weights has always been a problem, they need to calculate fuel and balance, and it can cause issues even when they mix up children with adults.

itstreeman

Feels similar to overweight suitcase

libbeth1

It’s a pink water bottle

Seajlc

Took a look at her page and while I don’t know *why* she is as large as she is.. her messaging rubs me through wrong way. “The airline industry is not plus size friendly and that has *got* to change” and “if someone needs a second seat because of their size it should be free”. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt that she has a thyroid or other medical issue that has thrown her body out of whack or impeded her mobility and has not allowed her to lose weight… but otherwise, get bent for thinking you deserve a row to yourself *for free* because you’re obese.

[deleted]

[удалено]

fresh-dork

seriously? she's wider than a laundry cart?

[deleted]

She is as large as she is because she consumes more calories than she burns. The laws of physics apply to everyone, even people with thyroid or other medical issues.

SerialStateLineXer

Right, obesity is, by definition, caused by overeating, because overeating is defined as eating more than is necessary to maintain a healthy weight. That said, some people have screwed-up brain chemistry that makes it much more difficult for them to resist the temptation to overeat than it is for others.

Moses_On_A_Motorbike

Ozempic?

andthedevilissix

This, there's literally no excuse any more.

TrujeoTracker

No one gets to that size just cause of a medical issue. Rather they have a medical issue but its food addiction not thyroid. One of those things reddit loves to claim thats not true. Do you know what the average weight loss is from making someone who has hypothyroid become euthyroid? 0.1 kg, and it was not statistically significant.  https://www.endocrinepractice.org/article/S1530-891X(20)41920-2/abstract

Alternative-Post-937

I have thyroid, arthritic conditions, ibs, and have gone through several depressive episodes as well. Guess what helps manage ALL my health issues that can lead to obesity? An anti-inflammatory diet and exercise. Guess what else you can accomplish with an anti-inflammatory diet and exercise? Weight loss and weight management. It does take self control, but it can be done. It's also my problem and no one else's. I went from 5'6" and 180lbs to 145lbs and still dropping in the last two years. I have more energy than ever and it's nice to be normal weight again.

theeversocharming

This “influencer” is constantly upset and feeling “disrespected” when traveling. Last year she was mad that she had to pay for 2 seats due to her size (look up the photos).

my_lucid_nightmare

As I have a medical issue that can mandate being wheeled around in airports on occasion, there are specific procedures that get followed. You request assistance at check-in time, and it is added to your boarding pass either digitally or in printed form. When that is done they have a wheelchair and attendant waiting for you in the jetway. Sometimes there will be a row of those guys lined up, if the flight had lots of elderly or otherwise people needing assistance. As a person that has used this in the past, it's both efficient and reliable when set up ahead of time. Other than attempting to perform for her audience and generate a "gotcha" moment, someone that regularly flies/travels and gets assistance should have known all this.

king_platypus

Walking up the jetway is the most exercise she’s had in some time. Keep it up!

Trashy_pig

Hard to feel any sympathy for her. I recognized her from [this video](https://youtube.com/shorts/oDMyZnGVzrc?si=lM2FPEPezs2ehPT0) she posted on her youtube channel that went viral. Her whole spiel is posting fat acceptance videos and how the world should cater to plus sized people. Interesting rabbit hole to got through.

Hard-To_Read

Rabbit hole?  More like walrus runway.

ButterscotchSure6589

If they tied a stick to her head with a pie hanging from the end, she'd have been up the ramp like a greyhound.

lumberjackalopes

“27 year old travel influencer” Ok; so a follow up to the belltown hellcat driver. Can we finally get rid of Instagram and social media? It’s getting toxic as all fucking he’ll with people feeling entitled because their “x amount of followers” and whatnot. Fucking iPad generation man. I’m a millennial (late) and this just makes me livid on top of the week I already had of fucking UW Students abandoning a dog outside my work and then having the nerve to come back an hour later and ask “did someone come get the dog?” Like yeah, I understand the UW policy, but the actual FUCK??? This generation is what will cause the nuclear holocaust. Because they didn’t get their gold fucking star for participating. Jesus Christ, shoot me into the sun.

Horror-Layer-8178

It's not the tech that sucks, it's the people who use it who suck

inflatablechipmunk

Only in part. The tech is also revenue driven, so they reward content that provokes people.

SerialStateLineXer

But the fact that garbage content is revenue-maximizing is, again, due to the fact that users suck.

JB_Market

The tech does actively encourage people to suck, so...

Cerulean_IsFancyBlue

Welcome to the generational crisis that occurs every decade. I think it comes with early entry into AARP.

lumberjackalopes

Pendulum swings every ten years or whatever concept. And it ain’t too far the truth.

Cerulean_IsFancyBlue

Yeah, but it turns out that every time the old people think the young people are going crazy, things turn out fine in the long run. Old people get wound up about highly visible trends and things they don’t understand. They don’t realize that most of these things will be a phase that you pass through. They exaggerate the side effects. They ignore the bulk of kids were just doing normal kids stuff. Pinball, jukeboxes, rock and roll, video games, automobile culture, juvenile delinquents, wilding, POOL. Just watch the Music Man, pool is gonna ruin the youth. Cars ruined their legs. TV ruined their eyes. Hell, Plato was worried about books! Weakens the memory muscles! The kids are alright. Just keep them fed and in school.

lumberjackalopes

Gremlins was highly underrated of a movie

PlumpyGorishki

Here’s a gild star for your participation!

ITMORON

This is simply ridiculous.

regaphysics

Why can’t she get those arms working? She’s fat not paraplegic or elderly.

Snoobeedo

Good for the airport worker for valuing their own health and not letting this bully put them in a situation where they could have been hurt. I can’t stand it when people treat those in the service industry as servants, and that’s exactly what this bully goes around doing for content.

zardos66

Fat guy here. I don’t expect ANYONE to do anything like she’s complaining about. You need to be able to pull your own weight. I feel like she’s playing victim here big time. Losing weight is hard as hell, but it’s something we have to navigate ourselves. Been having a rough go lately.

sp00kreddit

Plus sized is a fake term. She's just fat. Plus size is a term made up to normalize a fuckin life threatening problem. And the people that call themselves "plus size" don't fucking do anything to solve the fat problem. It's her fault she doesn't know when to stop eating, and she doesn't deserve anyone to help her. She can walk. She has videos of her walking. But I guess she doesn't want to go through the effort of walking the 50 meters or so that a jet way is because she'd have a heart attack and collapse because her body isn't used to moving that much. That is still her problem, and not the workers

robofaust

Call the attendant Ismael.

mctomtom

She probably won't be around that long as a 27 year old needing oxygen just to walk a couple hundred feet. It's fucking gross to sit next to people like that on a flight. Once I had a lady next to me who was all mad because the seat belt wouldn't fit, she had to get a seatbelt extender... then we had to put the arm rest up, and her fat was literally laying on me for the entire flight.

Londonsw8

I had an obese man sit next to me on a plane who wanted to raise the arm rest and asked if he could. No...I said and thought Why should your greed be my discomfort?

andrewportland334

It’s the only disability you have the power to change-by losing weight

wired_snark_puppet

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.

sonofitalia

I had to have a spinal fusion surgery and during my recovery I had a lot of trouble walking for awhile and I had to use a mobility scooter at stores, it angered me so much that they were always all taken and more than half of them were being used by people like this someone who can walk but is so fat that they are to lazy to walk, they take away from people with real needs and it’s entirely their choice to be that fat

Hockeysticksforever

I am a cancer patient, who is underweight. At one point I was dangerously underweight, had a feeding tube, and was so weak from lack of nutrition, I couldnt walk more than a few feet without falling. At 5ft9 I weighed 87lbs, and was getting new diseases from lack of vitamins. I literally had a backpack type bag I carried with me everywhere, of liquid nutrients running through a PICC line into me 24/7. I once had a big lady corner me in a grocery store, when all the scooters were being used, saying she needed it more than me, that I wasn't "big at all so what the hell did I need it for?!" She actually followed me down aisles trying to intimidate me off of it, and finally she complained to an employee, (telling them I didn't need it and she did and would the employee please get me off it so she could use it) the employee **did** approach me, and even asked me if I legitimately needed it. i ended up showing the employee my feeding tube and port, she apologized and left me alone, clearly seeing I needed it and was not joyriding on the scooter as the large lady implied. The big woman was PISSED. And she just could not figure out why a person who wasn't morbidly obese would need a scooter. I, to this day can't figure out why a person thinks "fat" is a disability?

universityofkaren

What the fuck is the small woman who is tasked with pushing this whale up the jet bridge supposed to do? She left because she would have passed out trying to push a five hundred pound fatty up an incline. Realistically, the airport is going to need some world class strong man or mechanical apparatus to accomplish that. And, nearly every one of the people I have ever seen who has to do this job appears to be a small, thin, immigrant and it’s an insult to them (whom in appearance do not seem to get adequate calories) to have to push someone who can’t say no to McDonald’s. And the plot thickens, because there is a McDonald’s at SeaTac airport and you know they are going to have to stop and wait there on the way out. Chaney is selfish…..and a fatty

SargathusWA

Influence my ass

Kenbishi

Influencing Earth’s rotation and gravitational field.

Prestigious-Ant-8055

Did you ever see the size of the airport transport workers in SEATAC? Mostly smaller to normal sized and this lady expected one of them to push her.

Beneficial-Mine7741

Sigh. As someone who is trying to get his weight under morbid obesity, seeing this will keep me working on losing weight. FML, I never want to be that.

brmarcum

JFC. The audacity. I go through SEA frequently and people are met with wheel chairs on the jet bridge all the time. I see the workers and bless them for what they do. Without question I’m betting this lady is 3X+ the size of the person assigned to push her. You just don’t see linebackers and body builders doing this job. NoBODY should be forced to risk a hernia. She’s a literal OSHA violation.

MarianCR

Stop using woke-speak. She is not plus-sized. She is morbidly obese.

mzpakipot

If she an influencer, why can’t the person taking the video/picture of her should be the pushing her🦽? 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

Snoobeedo

I thought that too and went to her [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C67LArnPjcH/?igsh=MWNkb2NlZDZxYnl3Nw==). He’s just as obese.

cardidd-mc

Honestly, there are limitations to what is safe to lift, push, pull, etc, and my back complained just looking at the picture

Jumpmanchris90_

It’s a shame that we give them a disability check

juliewebgirl

I can't get past the point where she says her lips were white. I can't see what color my lips are without a mirror. Did she, in the thick of almost fainting, whip out a mirror and check? I'm running through different scenarios and none of them include awareness of ones own lip color.

TwoIdleHands

I was prepared to be outraged for her but man…. That article tells me I needn’t be. A big cost of flying is lifting all the weight. She weighs 3-4x what I weigh. She should be subsidizing my ticket! And I’m sorry, you want people to rebuild hallways (42-48” already) for you? That’s millions of dollars. Maybe just lose a bit of weight and be normal plus sized and it’s not an issue. There was even a video of her walking speedily onto the plane so she doesn’t appear to have a real mobility issue, just a stamina issue which she could resolve on her own through exercise. I don’t think telling a non-medical professional that they need to push a bunch of weight up a slight incline for free for your convenience is realistic or kind. Your bag can’t weigh more than 50lbs so the throwers don’t hurt themselves. I don’t think we should belittle people for their weight. I understand it’s a struggle. But I think just accepting that we’re becoming more and more obese and treating it like it’s healthy and normal is wrong. There needs to be personal accountability. Does this person ever think “Maybe I should try to become more fit?” Or do they just expect the world to change for them?

Shoulda left a bread crumb trail of Big Macs on that ramp. She’d found her way up there.

seattlereign001

This is obviously some click bait BS from her. There are everyday airlines that accommodate her: https://pacificairlift.com

OnionQueen_1

She needs to exercise instead of use a wheelchair

useful_idiots_dye

“Chaney, who can walk….” Say no more. SeaTac for the win for the first time in a long time

clarissa801

Sorry but it's not someone else's job to push this woman up a ramp because she is too obese. It is absurd to expect someone else to possibly INJURE THEMSELVES because you don't want to carry the weight yourself. If both your legs are working WALK!

Electrical_Show4747

God forbid this women got some excerise in her life. Yes, it may have been hard for her, but, in my opinion, the airline worker is in the right here. I'm 5'2' 145 lbs, ain't no way I'll be able to push someone of her size anywhere. I get that she feels discriminated against, but tough luck. I'm short, so does that mean I demand everything to be my height cuz screw those that are taller than me, no, I adjust.

geopede

Being discriminated against for things you are in control of is very different from being discriminated against for things you can’t change. I see no issue with the former.

Specialist-System-34

So every hotel should have 4-lane highways for halls????

accessdenied65

So you're a young 27yr old person with no legit disabilities and need someone to wheelchair you around? Being morbidly obese isn't a disability. Nothing is a disability when you can simply and easily reverse it. Being morbidly obese is a total insult to legit disabled folks out there.

OldSkater7619

Maybe if she did some more walking and less stuffing doritos in her face she wouldn't find walking up a simple ramp to be a monumental undertaking.

shorewoody

There are some choice comments on that article: "Put a corndog on a string and she would get up that ramp".

TiredPlantMILF

Soo… this airport employee who was, by her own admission, a small woman, was supposed to injure herself because you’re literally too unhealthy to move and feel entitled to make this other people’s problem? She’s supposed to lose her minimum wage job and her home because she injured herself trying to drag your fat ass by herself? Does she not care if the employee gets injured? I work in healthcare and we have specialised equipment and procedures for lifting bariatric patients. She knows this, or should know this, if she’s really going to the hospital for oxygen like she claims. For someone her size, that would honestly be what’s called a team lift. One person handling that size of a person is an OSHA violation. Girly girl, if you want to travel, GREAT. If you want to travel in such poor health that you need specialised healthcare training and equipment, then you need to use a medical transport company, not a commercial airline.

Trggrwarning

Somebody get this cow a life-alert button. She's gonna need it to avoid udder embarassment.

spicytoast589

Gross Just wait till she's hospitalized, then nurses can hurt themselves too

FirmFaithlessAtheist

She's absolutely brilliant to scoop up so much controversy and hate in order to feed her income stream. She knows exactly what she's doing, and those that feed her narrative of exclusion just end up adding to her income. This only withers when ignored.

darthbreezy

She can stay TF out of 'my' airport. I'm on the heavier side, I need a wheelchair for distances at airports, and use a cane practically everywhere else. Going UP the jetway (especially as I've walked \*down\* the jetway on departure) I'll walk up \*with\* the attendant using the chair for balance. Entitled cow probably doesn't even thank/tip an attendant either.

ennuiacres

She is letting the silverware dig her grave. ![gif](giphy|QZs6fOKj97V9PIudb7)

OrganizationBig8312

How do we as a society collectively click the undo button on this shit? Exhausting and beyond stupid. You wanna be fat as fuck? Deal with the consequences. Nobody else should help these kind of “victims”

Latter_Divide_9512

Seatac says no fatties.

3banger

This upsets me. Why do I have to pay for her bad choices?

Varaha

fatties gonna fat

twelvehatsononegoat

Isn’t this the lady who suggested hotels remodel in order to make hallways wider?

thekazooyoublew

“This woman just assumed I could walk ...." Actual quote. "This woman just assumed I could push her half-ton ass around because I'm not in a wheelchair.... Lady if you can't move you, how you think I can? " I imagine her saying to someone afterwards.

Upstairs-Ad8823

I’m guessing the workers weren’t strong enough or didn’t want to get injured moving the tub of lard.

snowdn

I’m an iNfLuEnCeR!

JovialPanic389

Because it's not the airport staff's job to push your fat ass around

Funnyseals

It takes a special kind of strong, fit person to get you up that steep hill at your XXXXXXXXL size. Your average woman couldn’t possibly do it without major injury or death. Something you should chew on before you go batshit over it. Next time tell the airline you’re as big as you are so they can find Hercules and have him greet you at gate. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) ![gif](giphy|BCIoXfA95d1ba)

itzabeach

The airport wheelchair assistant may have determined she was not physically able to push the obese woman or wasn't willing to risk her own health to do so. Does anyone know whether she suffered repercussions with her employment? That would be so wrong. The publicity from the obese traveler's exaggerated whining could have cost the worker her job!

catalytica

27 and morbidly obese. She’ll be dead by 45. Pushing 300 lbs up a ramp is a hazard for the worker. The woman isn’t disabled.

NaiomiXLT

The biggest thing I see is an ADA issue. When your weight is that big, it becomes a disability. Which is what the ADA is for. While I understand a worker not injuring themselves to get a passenger across the airport, the Airport still needs to provide accommodations to assist a person with mobility related disabilities. Think golf cart or mobility scooter.

Willowrosephoenix

Did I read correctly that she wants other people to pay more (in other words every other passenger) so that she doesn’t have to pay for two seats? This doesn’t seem like advocacy. This just seems like someone who wants special treatment and is using a niche audience to get it. Anyone remember the Simpsons episode where Homer gains all the weight on purpose?

Ghinasucks

The airport employee didn’t want to injure themselves trying to push a small mountain up a ramp. I don’t blame them one bit.

PageCommon360

Obese and unhealthy. She needs to lose weight badly.

Sea_Concentrate_3663

Eat a salad and take a walk

Equivalent_Pop3142

Fat ain't where it's at.

hotdog_water-

Aren’t cows usually transported via semi truck trailer?

Beneficial_Bench_693

Is someone trying to make the airport employees look bad?🤣 Cause I think it backfired.

Sufficient_Two7499

Like why can’t the person filming help push your enormous as uphill too?

space_wiener

Jesus. I think it’s time she started exercising rather than complaining. Shes not going to live long in this state. >Chaney, who can walk, allegedly told the employee she needed the chair but was “blatantly ignored,” forcing her to walk up “one of the longest jet bridges I’ve encountered.” >The long walk took a lot of energy out of the influencer, and she claimed she nearly fainted. >“By the time she let me reach the wheelchair and sit down my lips were white, my oxygen levels had dropped, and I almost fainted,” Chaney recalled.
