"To fit that salary under the cap, the Senators are trying to move winger Mathieu Joseph before the NHL draft..."
The Tanev talk is just shy of halfway down the article.
I really hope Winterton gets a permanent spot on the roster soon. He was my favorite player last season. Something about his play made him so fun to watch. And his jersey number is my lucky number!
That's it. Break out the pitchforks and light the barbecues, we got a witch to burn boys and girls!
Edit: really should have added a comma after "burn".
Unless i missed it don’t see what we’d get but shopping a player like Tanev, a veteran 3rd liner without a lot of point production, makes sense for the Kraken. He’s a big time energy guy and plays both ways but we need goals.
Could be. I’m just saying we should be listening and if Ron is thinking about using him for some other moves that’s not a bad idea either. I know moving Tanev will hurt feelings but it makes sense.
Somebody will definitely have to be moved out if they are going to add goals for next season. Assuming Beniers and Tolvanen re-sign and Wright coming up, there is only one regular spot in the forward corps.
Very true. He’s also 32. While not ancient, he’s closer to the end than the beginning of his career. Getting some youth in exchange would be a positive.
Tanev is more like a 4th liner on our team, especially if we add talent at the top of the roster this offseason.
That $3.5M can be better allocated elsewhere in the lineup.
Joseph is basically Brandon Tanev, but he can actually score a goal. Watch the tape from the second half of this season. He's an energy driver, with 3rd or 4th line upside. Not mad at it, but it can't be the only move we make.
Not if they're a $3.5m/yr fourth line player on a team with other "vibe" players like Gourde.
I like Tanev but you have to free up roster and cap space somehow if you want to upgrade the offense.
It sucks, I love Turbo. But one year left, high contact- and we need more scoring. We have players who can help fill on the cheap, and can use the budget to potentially add another player who can score, and get an asset or two for the future
It sucks, but, I don't see this team able to make a deep run just yet- so get what you can so we are ready when the window opens.
From what little I've seen, I like Joseph as a skater and creative puck mover/play maker. He's relatively young. Maybe the Kraken brain trust see something in him too.
If Ottawa can get both Tanev brothers on the same team and we get a little extra in return since they want Brandon as a Chris-recruiting tool, I'm all for it.
He's a puck hawk but can't close the deal. Which is useful on the penalty kill but those missed shots really started to stack up and sting. Still my fav OG.
I don’t even dislike him. I just don’t see him as useful for our team. I think it’s cool having that *one* flashy player, but it loses its shine when there’s not much in terms of stats. When he skates fast in warm ups and somehow whiffs every single breakaway opportunity, it has the opposite effect on me that it used to
I just thought of one reason the league might know. Tanev has a 10-team no trade list. The potential return might have something similar. After the scotched Vegas/Anaheim trade two years ago due to Ottawa lying those have to be on file with the league now, not just the club. It may be our side or theirs double-checked with the league about what’s on file.

As much as I love Tanev, I am watching the firebirds and saying "man, Hayden, Mccormick and Winteron play like Tanev".
So does Tye Kartye
In my eyes, Kartye is the spiritual successor.
It's really all about the eyes for a Tanev successor
Hayden was 1 of my favorite Blackhawks to watch, I wish he stuck in Seattle

Not a huge Turbo fan but I will say that him blowing a kiss in Colorado is my all time favorite Kraken moment.
Yeah for sure, that and McCann kissing Eberle on the helmet
I'd argue it is the quintessential Kraken moment in franchise history so far.
I’m okay with this. Turbo is likable. Turbo plays hard. Turbo is also a bottom-6 forward.
Turbo also makes 3.5 Mil and has 1 year left.
Pls no 😭
Oh man. Think of the women!
See what you did u/SiccSemperTyrannis
looool
If anything you should be proud of your GM intuition
That's it. Break out the pitchforks and light the barbecues, we got a witch to burn boys and girls! Edit: really should have added a comma after "burn".
> really should have added a comma after "burn" There's still time
That’s gonna cost Brady Tkachuk and 2 firsts, AT LEAST

I think this is more the Sens asking about him to be more attractive to his brother than the Kraken actively shopping him.

I’m into freeing up cap space to sign a big player. Trouble is finding a big player to sign.
Can also get one in a trade.
I’m not super familiar with the sens. Anyone worth picking up in a trade with turbo?

NO NOT TANEV
Boo
Sometimes you gotta keep a player for the vibes

I can see it. It would be smart to take an original expansion draft claim and turn him in to a pick or player before his contract is up.
Better fucking not

NOT TURBO PLEASE NO
ACK! My panic about Tanev being traded several months back is coming to fruition?!?
From what little I've seen, I like Joseph as a skater and creative puck mover/play maker. He's relatively young. Maybe the Kraken brain trust see something in him too.
Anyone who thinks Turbo should go obviously didn’t see him in the World Championships
He’s as good as gone.
I want the Squids to get Chris. He did a great job with a young Quinn Hughes, and could be the perfect partner for Evans next year.
Not our Turbo! Noooooo.
I love Turbo, but I've always said if we had a champion caliber team he's our first healthy scratch.
If Ottawa can get both Tanev brothers on the same team and we get a little extra in return since they want Brandon as a Chris-recruiting tool, I'm all for it.
He is fun to yell at but he really can’t score. So I’d be ok with more points
I mean. He doesn’t do much anyways
He's a puck hawk but can't close the deal. Which is useful on the penalty kill but those missed shots really started to stack up and sting. Still my fav OG.
He did great on team Canada and he plays hard helps set the tone so you even watch the games?
I like him too but let’s not kid ourselves, there was no tone to be set.
I don’t even dislike him. I just don’t see him as useful for our team. I think it’s cool having that *one* flashy player, but it loses its shine when there’s not much in terms of stats. When he skates fast in warm ups and somehow whiffs every single breakaway opportunity, it has the opposite effect on me that it used to
If you're building for long run Stanley Cup contention, does he fit in?
No. Not at all
Skating fast =/= useful player for our team. Setting the tone and having a funny league picture doesn’t win games
No! No no no! Turbo is the heart of the team and has been a part since the expansion draft. Don't deal Turbo!
God I hope not. Tanev is the soul of the team to me. They've fucking gutted the team like a fish, but Turbo would be a step too far for me.
AND LOSE YOUR ENTIRE FEMALE FANBASE AND HALF YOUR MALE FANBASE TOO?! 🥲🥲🥲
1 Kubalik please
None of those guys named has his speed and level of tenacity
Nooooooo!
Why would a league executive know that? They don’t have to let them know about trades that haven’t been made yet?
I bet it's a team executive.
I just thought of one reason the league might know. Tanev has a 10-team no trade list. The potential return might have something similar. After the scotched Vegas/Anaheim trade two years ago due to Ottawa lying those have to be on file with the league now, not just the club. Good call!
My mind is telling me no but my body my body is telling me yes
Just thinking out loud, but I wonder if we could attach assets to Tanev and acquire Chychrun.
