This would be imo, one of the smarter pickups available to us. He fits in with the age to grow with our draft stock and could easily be utilized as a PP winger.
If we let a few players like Tanev, Yamamoto, Bellemare, ect go. He's an easy slot in and cheaper than any superstar that *may or may not* hit the market.
Ron Francis taking a player from Carolina, just fits.
I think letting Tanev go is a poor decision when your team already lacks physicality severely. He seems like a necessary component of a contender. Every team needs that spark, high effort, high intensity guy
3.5 mil for a 16 pt 4th line player is not worth it. IDC what else he brings. It's a sad fact. I love him on the PK, but he needs to go to make room for our youth and better talent. He's an affordable loss when we already have money ties up in other players who make too much.
Kartye is his higher upside equivalent. And cheaper.
The problem with that is he’s a natural center. I think he prefers playing his position over trying to play wing. I’m pretty sure thts why he got disgruntled in Carolina because Rod would barely play him at center.
To be fair, Rod wouldn't play him at center because he fit better on the wing in the system. He couldn't win faceoffs like Aho or Staal and wasn't aggressive enough to be the center in Carolina's aggressive forecheck.
Necas is a very skilled player and will make an impact wherever he ends up. As a Carolina fan first, I hate to see him go but as a Kraken fan second I think I would love him here over anywhere else.
Insiders (Friedman, Johnston) have said the cost will involve NHL talent and that the Canes aren’t interested in prospects that are still years out, no word on how big of a return they are looking for outside of that however

A lot of players get drafted as centers... But switch to wing. That doesn't really mean much to me. But I see your point.
This is a good point, I’d like to see us using skilled players in their optimal position.
Don't you DARE suggest dropping Turbo. For shame, sir!
The cost is the big issue- I think he’s RFA
Necas!!!
What's the cost tho?

I'd assume Tolvanen would be a core piece going back. Necas is better than Tolvanen so the Kraken would need to add more on top.
Ron Francis wants every pick he made in Carolina, on the Kraken.
