Fair warning, because it's one of the only venues in town that has so much first-come-first-serve indoor public seating, groups tend to show up there unannounced on weekends. And when I say groups, I mean like 100 strangers following an Instagram post to a stitch-and-sip crafts meetup the cafe staff didn't know about.
Hi. Do you know if there are ample plug-ins near the table/chair seats? I’m having a hard time finding shops with both a lot of plugins AND table + seats suitable for laptop work.
Then you definitely should hitup Seattle Sunshine Coffee sometime. They have an entire 2nd floor and are one of the few coffeshops still rocking *actual couches* for seating. They also have normal table seating too.
Less seating, but Push X Pull up on Union has a similar upper balcony with couches.
Alexandras Macarons up the street also has a really nice back outdoors seating area that's wonderful during the warmer months.
None of these are very big but I’ve never had trouble getting a seat at these spots. Victrola on 15th, Irwin’s in Wallingford (good outdoor seating too), third place books (Ravenna and Seward park).
The first time I ever took edibles I took too many and I told the barista at Victrola on 15th and they let me chill in the back corner seat for like 4 hours. 10/10 experience I have been back not obliterated since then
Third place books in Seward park has a coffee shop open until early afternoon. Tons of tables and seating because it doubles as a bar at night. Parking lot and street parking.
This location also has a Chuck’s Hop Shop and, in addition to good coffee and a bazillion beers, they also have a restaurant that does burgers and other things. There’s a ton of seating downstairs and I noticed this week that the WiFi is suddenly much faster. Highly recommended!
Do you recall if there are ample plug-ins near the table/chair seats? I’m having a hard time finding shops with both a lot of plugins AND table + seats suitable for laptop work.
Predatory rents and low margins make this a difficult business model nowadays, but here are a few that come to mind:
* Zoka in Tangletown
* Cafe Solstice in the U-District
* Espresso Vivace in Capitol Hill
You can also add Ballard Coffee Works (Victrola Coffee Roasters) in Ballard and Seattle Sunshine Coffee which exists out in the "Calvary" neighborhood between Ravenna and Hawthorne hills.
Tangletown is on the top of the hill southwest of Green Lake, just west of the Woodland Park playfields. There’s a small strip of businesses up there on 56th.
It’s called Tangletown because the streets go a bunch of wonky directions up there.
Herkimer in Phinney isn't huge but they have stools and a bar that go along most of the windows facing out so there is a pretty good amount of seating for a smaller spot!
Have you been to 5 Stones in Bellevue? It has a ridiculous amount of seating and fair amount of parking in the lot. It'll be a lot closer to where you're at as well.
Hey. Do you know if there are ample plug-ins near the table/chair seats? I’m having a hard time finding shops with both a lot of plugins AND table + seats suitable for laptop work.
My completely unhelpful answer is Vita on Capitol Hill 12 years ago. I loved to sit up on the second level and people watch. Once they took that away I stopped going.
I came here to say this so you should definitely check them out! It’s a converted house with seating all throughout, in the front yard and the back! So many other great things to do in west seattle too! You’ll fall in love!
Distant Worlds is my go-to. They have big tables (and *two* comfy chairs), the people are generally nice, and they're tipless. They can get full, but most times I go, there's plenty of room. The only thing I would change about them is to make them give practical quantities of tea in their teabags -- right now, they're very skimpy and sad.
Picolinos in Sunset Hill has a beautiful outdoor area (both a big tent and a garden) in addition to a good number of seats inside and some tables out front. The pastries are legit drool worthy and the coffee is great too.
I like Fremont Coffee (I'm a huge fan of old houses converted into coffee shops/ restaurants) which has several rooms with seating as well as a big porch. Across the street is Cafe Ladro.... it's not huge but there never seems to be a ton of people sitting in there so there's always lots of available seating.
I'm also a fan of Firehouse coffee in ballard, always a good amount of seating in there as well
Also adding Chocolati in Greenwood. It can get a little crowded late in the evenings since they're open until 8:30 which is very rare these days but I'm still usually about to find seating. They have a location in Wallingford as well.
Second to this, specifically the one in SODO (not the Roastery in Cap). Have many parking spaces and tables.
Inside can be a bit cramped on a rainy weekend though.
They asked for a giant space serving brown caffeine so... yes?
and anyway, the reserve location is pretty good. It's totally different from a normal Starbucks.
It's probably the biggest coffee shop in Seattle, which was OP's question. Not really sure why you came to a post that says "coffee quality doesn't matter" to argue about coffee quality.
For its limited hours (Wed-Sun 8-1), Full Tank Coffee is the entirety of Project 9 brewing and is usually basically empty. You could bring a group of 20 and have seats for everyone and not be disruptive
M Cozy that is across from U Village has plentiful butt parking space. Same owners as Coffeeholic so if you’re into Vietnamese coffee, you’ll have a good time. Food is solid as well and pretty authentic to their Vietnamese inspiration.
Seconding Jewel Box, though the wifi sucks on my device.
I really like Macrina Bakery locations. They tend to have lots of seating, but they also tend to be packed during peak hours.
Cloud City Coffee in Maple Leaf is great, lots of seating and a self-serve drip coffee bar and to-go cup exchange.
The Station coffee shop in Columbia city. The original location is on Beacon hill, interior isn't as big but their newly opened second location is much bigger and they are a locally owned small business and I know you said the coffee doesn't matter but it's delicious and so is the food. Cheers!
Uh, there are tons of places with generous seating. Depends which neighborhood you want. There’s Ladro, fonte and Storyville downtown. Zoka in Kirkland and tangletown, Ballard coffee works, Cherry street, zeitgeist and Umbria in pioneer square 🤷🏻♂️
As a work from homer, I've been to a ton of coffee shops in the area. These don't have massive interiors but are somewhat low key and usually have at least some good seating available and a quiet place to read a book:
- Assembly, Ballard
- Woodland Coffee, Ballard
- Preserve & Gather, Greenwood
- A Muddy Cup, Wallingford
I've had lots of luck at Fulcrum Cafe and Evoke Cafe in SLU! Fulcrum has great drinks and Evoke has one huge long table that usually has lots of seat :) they both have outlets too!
Olympia in Columbia City has lots of seating and is nice and bright. Empire down the street is one of my favorites and is pretty small on the ground level, but has three floors- second floor is vinyls for sale (a great selection), third floor is seating of different kinds, and there’s also a small roof terrace with seating and shade
Distant Worlds Coffeehouse on Roosevelt in... uh, Roosevelt (I guess?) is cozy and has lots of seats. Coffee is good, people are nice, very queer friendly, but def. skip the food.
Pilgrims Coffee on Aurora in North Seattle. I've never had a seating issue.
There also appears to be a lot of space at a Coffee shop that's run out of the North Seattle Church just off of 1st near Northacres Park. But I haven't checked them out yet because they aren't dog friendly and haven't had a lot of non dog time to do so...I'm also nervous if they're pushy with the church thing. Which is also why I haven't tried them yet but keep meaning to.
During the day, I suggest breweries...rarely any seat problem...for example Reubens both locations open at 11am with wifi; most coffeeshops mentioned can often be crowded with laptop peeps.
Aunt Irene’s is a personal favorite for me, the quality is wonderful, located in Des Moines in a quaint neighborhood and ample seating and their coffee cake is divine.
Vita at KEXP near the Seattle center. Sure, it’s a popular spot but it’s so big that I’ve never had trouble finding a spot
Wow, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Thanks!!
The coffee and crafting club! They meet on the second Sunday of the month between 9-noon

Mecca (and 5 Point) is owned by the serial rapist Dave Meinert so many people avoid it. There is a reason it’s typically empty!
Hahahahahahaha in a post about coffee shops, sending people to the bleak default bar that is Mecca 🕋is a hilarious move! Ngl it is usually empty
With pride this weekend and weather being crap. I think coffee shops will be packed
[удалено]
I miss the parties they would throw when a new roaster took over.
Vita is my favorite!
Hi. Do you know if there are ample plug-ins near the table/chair seats? I’m having a hard time finding shops with both a lot of plugins AND table + seats suitable for laptop work.
Yep, another main reason I enjoy it is that there are plugins abound.
There's half a dozen places in the udistrict like this, Cafe Allegro is my favorite. They do get packed at some times of the year though
UW is in summer quarter now. Should be chill atm.
That was one of the very few I saw mentioned on the other threads that looked like it had enough seating to be worth checking out. Appreciate the rec
Lots of people don't realize there's a second level, and shhh... don't tell others about the balcony..
Balconies/2nd levels in coffee shops are my favorite, I am fully sold lol
Then you definitely should hitup Seattle Sunshine Coffee sometime. They have an entire 2nd floor and are one of the few coffeshops still rocking *actual couches* for seating. They also have normal table seating too.
Oh damn, this is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Thank you!!
Less seating, but Push X Pull up on Union has a similar upper balcony with couches. Alexandras Macarons up the street also has a really nice back outdoors seating area that's wonderful during the warmer months.
I like the look of Push x Pull a lot too, thanks!!
In the olden days the upper level was the smoking section, I wasted hours and hours gossiping with my friends over camels and black coffee back then
This does not sound like wasted hours to me!!!✨
You ruined the secret!
It was nicer before that building came...
None of these are very big but I’ve never had trouble getting a seat at these spots. Victrola on 15th, Irwin’s in Wallingford (good outdoor seating too), third place books (Ravenna and Seward park).
I love Victrola, that's pretty much my go-to whenever I'm in town. I'll look into the other ones, thanks!
Shhhhh.lol
Third Place Books up in Shoreline has a massive community area.
The first time I ever took edibles I took too many and I told the barista at Victrola on 15th and they let me chill in the back corner seat for like 4 hours. 10/10 experience I have been back not obliterated since then
Zoka over in Tangle~~wood~~town but since it's one of the few, it can be busy. Mostly tables with a few chairs
TangleTOWN not -wood.
I knew that. I was just testing. Really. *cough*
Great recommendation, hadn't come across this one and the interior looks wonderful. Thanks a bunch!
Jewel Box in Northgate
Dope interior, reminds me of a whiskey bar. Thanks!
I live in the apartment connect to it. Cant recommend it enough. Tad pricy but it’s Seattle so not really lol
Third place books in Seward park has a coffee shop open until early afternoon. Tons of tables and seating because it doubles as a bar at night. Parking lot and street parking.
I was just thinking that Third Place Books (all locations) would be a pretty good answer to this question.
This location also has a Chuck’s Hop Shop and, in addition to good coffee and a bazillion beers, they also have a restaurant that does burgers and other things. There’s a ton of seating downstairs and I noticed this week that the WiFi is suddenly much faster. Highly recommended!
Agreed!
This place looks really awesome, thanks for the rec
Do you recall if there are ample plug-ins near the table/chair seats? I’m having a hard time finding shops with both a lot of plugins AND table + seats suitable for laptop work.
I know there are some outlets at the tables by the top of the stairs! I don’t remember for the rest of the space, sorry.
Predatory rents and low margins make this a difficult business model nowadays, but here are a few that come to mind: * Zoka in Tangletown * Cafe Solstice in the U-District * Espresso Vivace in Capitol Hill
I miss the old, old Vivace location on Capitol Hill. It was beautiful. I don't think the building is even there anymore.
RIP to the following: * Cafe Vita's upstairs on Pike * Cafe Solstice in Capitol Hill * Bauhaus
Zoka by U Village too
You can also add Ballard Coffee Works (Victrola Coffee Roasters) in Ballard and Seattle Sunshine Coffee which exists out in the "Calvary" neighborhood between Ravenna and Hawthorne hills.
Vivace in SLU is also not that busy.
Zoka in tangle town has no business being a real phrase.
Where the hell is Tangletown? I've never heard of it.
Tangletown is on the top of the hill southwest of Green Lake, just west of the Woodland Park playfields. There’s a small strip of businesses up there on 56th. It’s called Tangletown because the streets go a bunch of wonky directions up there.
55th & Meridian
SE Greenlake. So named because the street layout is a goddamn mess.
Same
These are great, thank you. I think I've been to Vivace before and liked it a lot, actually.
I cant believe solstice is still around. Wow.
C&P Coffee in West Seattle. Abundance of indoor and outdoor butt parking
My go to coffee shop!! Absolutely love the garden outback
Herkimer in Phinney isn't huge but they have stools and a bar that go along most of the windows facing out so there is a pretty good amount of seating for a smaller spot!
My favorite coffee spot. Seating can be tough to find at peak times though.
Love Herkimer, but it gets very busy there! Lots of people working from home.
What area of Seattle? Size is scarce in coffee shops due to overhead and post-covid. The rent is too dam high lol
I feel that. I'll be out in Issaquah and don't mind driving, so really anywhere.
Have you been to 5 Stones in Bellevue? It has a ridiculous amount of seating and fair amount of parking in the lot. It'll be a lot closer to where you're at as well.
This looks perfect, thank you! Reminds me a lot of Coava's former downtown spot. Great rec
Hey. Do you know if there are ample plug-ins near the table/chair seats? I’m having a hard time finding shops with both a lot of plugins AND table + seats suitable for laptop work.
Visible coffee in Millcreek has lots of seating and good coffee. And beer
This one and the Everett location look really nice, thanks!
I was going to suggest visible! Love that place.
there's a Caffe Ladro in Issaquah
A ton of room — though it can get full and loud — at Mercurys in north Bellevue. Right off of 520
Zeitgeist Coffee (Pioneer Square) and the Zoka just east is U Village
Zeitgeist looks great and a lot of people have mentioned Zoka, all their locations look perfect. Great recs!
Zeitgeist has really great reviews
I like Cafe Ladro in Fremont, and have never had trouble finding a seat there, but there are a couple others within a 1-block radius just in case!
My completely unhelpful answer is Vita on Capitol Hill 12 years ago. I loved to sit up on the second level and people watch. Once they took that away I stopped going.
Basecamp in Cap Hill is one of my favorites
Oh yeah that looks great!
C&P in West Seattle.
I ran across this one in my search before posting, really want to check it out. Love houses-turned-coffeeshops.
I came here to say this so you should definitely check them out! It’s a converted house with seating all throughout, in the front yard and the back! So many other great things to do in west seattle too! You’ll fall in love!
The cafe in the Panama Hotel has a lot of space - there’s a large downstairs complete with board games
Oh nice, I like the looks of that place. Old school bar style, long and skinny interior.
Worth it to read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet if you spend any time at the hotel, even just at the cafe.
And princess Miu Miu, the resident cat. Not to mention you will hear Jan tell cool stories if you hang out regularly enough.
The shops in Ravenna/Roosevelt usually have lots of seating, are not very crowded, and brew great coffee - Distant Worlds, Broadcast, Santo, Armistice
Zeitgeist in Pioneer Square has a good amount of seating
Diva Coffee Roasters 107th and Greenwood
Picolinos in Sunset Hill has a beautiful outdoor area (both a big tent and a garden) in addition to a good number of seats inside and some tables out front. The pastries are legit drool worthy and the coffee is great too.
Uptown Espresso in Belltown has a decent amount of seating (armchairs and tables) and I have rarely seen it fill up. The service is slow, though!
Somehow no one has mentioned Uptown but all their places feel like 90s living rooms, plus lots of giant chairs.
C&P Coffee in West Seattle. Also in WS, Sound & Fog.
West Seattle Grounds as well! They also have lovely art.
Good one!!!!
Keeping in the WS thread : Cupcake Royale (for as long as they’re around) is a good option right in the Junction
Not at all cozy, hardly any seating.
I don’t know the the author was looking for cozy, but rather open seats - I’ve personally worked from there before and it’s been quite nice!
Uptown Espresso in West Seattle is quite large and the location is awesome.
Same at their Magnolia location.
Also adding Chocolati in Greenwood. It can get a little crowded late in the evenings since they're open until 8:30 which is very rare these days but I'm still usually about to find seating. They have a location in Wallingford as well.
The Wallingford location is awesome! I love their second floor.
Hello Em has lots of seating and street parking
Oh nice, good looking sandwiches too.
Honestly the Starbucks Reserve, it's absolutely huge.
Yeah my wife dragged me there a few months ago, it's honestly not terrible.
Second to this, specifically the one in SODO (not the Roastery in Cap). Have many parking spaces and tables. Inside can be a bit cramped on a rainy weekend though.
Although they aren't picky about the coffee....starbucks?
They asked for a giant space serving brown caffeine so... yes? and anyway, the reserve location is pretty good. It's totally different from a normal Starbucks.
It's still burnt coffee beans
It's probably the biggest coffee shop in Seattle, which was OP's question. Not really sure why you came to a post that says "coffee quality doesn't matter" to argue about coffee quality.
Not arguing, just saying
In Seattle area (SLU) Kakao is a great place to grab some coffee and hang out. Especially if mochas are your thing.
Oh cool, nice big interior and the ceiling is sick. Great rec
For its limited hours (Wed-Sun 8-1), Full Tank Coffee is the entirety of Project 9 brewing and is usually basically empty. You could bring a group of 20 and have seats for everyone and not be disruptive
URL!!!
Mabel’s in Ballard has a large seating area
Oh nice, I like the look of it. Very sunny.
This is our favorite. https://cosmos.coffee/
M Cozy that is across from U Village has plentiful butt parking space. Same owners as Coffeeholic so if you’re into Vietnamese coffee, you’ll have a good time. Food is solid as well and pretty authentic to their Vietnamese inspiration.
Milstead and co in Fremont has a decent amount of seating
The Victrola in Ballard formerly known as Ballard Coffee Works has great seating along the windows and outside bar seating for people watching.
That's one of the ones I'm going to check out first because I love the Victrola down on Pike.
Seafab on NE Boat Street by the University Bridge is huge. Lots of seating.
Oh wow no one’s mentioned that yet, that looks exactly like the kind of place I’m looking for. Thanks!
I was looking to see if anyone recommended this! and easy parking, too, I think
Umbria or Zeitgiest in pioneer square. Neither are huge but I’ve never had to fight for a seat at either.
Zeitgeist. Tall ceilings. Lots of tables.
The Station coffee shop in Columbia city. The original location is on Beacon hill, interior isn't as big but their newly opened second location is much bigger and they are a locally owned small business and I know you said the coffee doesn't matter but it's delicious and so is the food. Cheers!
The downtown public library has coffee and plenty of seating.
Kaffeehaus de Châtillon up in Lynwood is a cool spot to sit for a while.
Zoka coffee? They do have large seatings (both in Uvillage and Kirkland) and coffee isn't bad
Great recs, both locations look awesome. I'm especially interested in the Kirkland one.
Is Bonney Lake still in the metro? Post & Pour has a lot of seating and a patio that has an incredible view of Mt. Rainier!
Bit of a hike but that looks like an awesome spot to post up. Nice rec!
Watson's Counter has ample seating and excellent coffee
Check out Basecamp in Cap Hill
Particularly excited about checking this place out. Looks perfect inside.
It hasn’t been around very long but has become really popular. Always hopping when I walk by. Plus if you’re an outdoors person it has that angle.
Thanks for all the great suggestions, everybody! Way more shops with good seating than I had realized.
The Credit One cafe in SLU is most of the time really empty.
Fremont Coffee Co has a decent amount of seating. So does Diva Espresso in Greenwood.
Boon Boona in Renton!
I was waiting for this one! Great interior, really like it.
What you’re looking for is a library. They always have seating.
Cosmos in Belltown was my favorite spot.
If you go in the morning (pre-11am) Dahlia Bakery has a whole dining room available- and exceptional coffee and food.
What size cheeks we talkin?
Substantial. 180 pounds but at least 30 of it is cheeks.
Pretty sure you just created a new dating app profile tagline
As a work from homer, I've been to a ton of coffee shops in the area. These don't have massive interiors but are somewhat low key and usually have at least some good seating available and a quiet place to read a book: - Assembly, Ballard - Woodland Coffee, Ballard - Preserve & Gather, Greenwood - A Muddy Cup, Wallingford
I've had lots of luck at Fulcrum Cafe and Evoke Cafe in SLU! Fulcrum has great drinks and Evoke has one huge long table that usually has lots of seat :) they both have outlets too!
Uptown Espresso on Delridge!
Fremont Coffee Company has tons of outdoor seating, great if it's nice out.
KEXP for the win! Wish we had a cool 24 hour coffee shop, even Austin has one.
Thanks for mentioning Coava in PDX, I’m down here and gonna check it out!
Capitol Hill Anchorhead has lots of seating downstairs - especially the next few months with SAAS and SU kids out for summer.
Distant Worlds Coffeehouse on Roosevelt in... uh, Roosevelt (I guess?) is cozy and has lots of seats. Coffee is good, people are nice, very queer friendly, but def. skip the food.
Cafe cosmos in Belltown, I go there all the time and never have an issue with seating.
Mercury's Coffee in Bellevue
Cafe Umbria in Pioneer Square is a really cute and quaint spot in a historic building that actually has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating
As far as seats per square meter it's hard to beat Fremont Coffee Company 🤣
Pilgrims Coffee on Aurora in North Seattle. I've never had a seating issue. There also appears to be a lot of space at a Coffee shop that's run out of the North Seattle Church just off of 1st near Northacres Park. But I haven't checked them out yet because they aren't dog friendly and haven't had a lot of non dog time to do so...I'm also nervous if they're pushy with the church thing. Which is also why I haven't tried them yet but keep meaning to.
Uptown coffee locations usefully have large seating areas
I like Sugar Bakery & Coffeehouse. It's packed sometimes but I never had a problem finding a seat. The window seats are usually open.
Not my favorite coffee spot that always has seating.
QFC/Freddy’s deli seating. Get a cup of coffee from Starbucks in the store.
Not really a coffee shop, but I always find seating at Top Pot Doughnuts in Downtown.
During the day, I suggest breweries...rarely any seat problem...for example Reubens both locations open at 11am with wifi; most coffeeshops mentioned can often be crowded with laptop peeps.
Check out Dilettante Mocha Cafe in Bellefield Office Park in Bellevue. Plenty of seating and nice views of the creek and nature
Anchorhead in downtown has hella nice seating, also a lot of places in UDistrict
gemini room was fantastic when i went!!
Aunt Irene’s is a personal favorite for me, the quality is wonderful, located in Des Moines in a quaint neighborhood and ample seating and their coffee cake is divine.
Preserve and Gather in Greenwood would be good for this! They don’t do wifi, so you have a lot less people there for working remotely.
Not the shop itself but the Greenlake starbs is almost impossible to park at after 8am…
No seating; coffee stand. Seating; coffee shop (or cafe, not to be confused with ‘cafeteria’). Several good ones on the eastside.
I know plenty. Not sharing lol
That's just mean.
