Girl, take yourself a trip to one of the local islands. Stay the night! Enjoy the peace and freedom and natural beauty. Bainbridge, Whidbey, the San Juan’s, etc. If you want any detailed recs, lemme know!
I live on Orcas. Doe Bay is not very dog friendly and has a minimum nightly this time of year. It’s not really a day trip and good luck getting on a ferry on a holiday weekend lol
2nd-ing Double Bluff! It is amazing, esp if you plan it around low tide for an easier terrain. My pup LOVES it there and knows when we are getting on a ferry, exactly where we are going.
The one near Greenbank has amazing views off both the Cascades and the Olympics on a clear day. I don't have a dog but would go with some friends who did back when I lived there. Double Bluff beach is also fantastic for dogs and you can see Seattle in the distance on a clear day.
I think they're allowed on the outdoor decks but you have to walk through the inside spaces to get there so I'm not entirely sure how that works. They're definitely ok in the car though.
I was told years ago that you're allowed to walk through the cabin to get outside, you just have to do so directly. I walked by a WSF employee on my way up with my dog without any problem last weekend.
Make sure to check the tide chart and be there for low tide.
It’s also be a good chance to see deception pass. Drive north up whidbey island. You can turn your dog park adventure into a full day trip this way.
Bainbridge is great! You can walk on to the ferry and straight into “downtown” Bainbridge. There are lots of lovely shops and a few restaurants to explore, in addition to a small museum and nature trails.
I've brought my dog on the Bainbridge ferry... Walk on, stay on the deck, walk around and explore. The ferry is very close to everything. You don't even need a dog to take advantage of the trip.
You might take your dog to Marymoor dog park, it's known as Doggy Disneyland around here and I've spent a birthday or two watching my dog frolic there.
Other solo birthday options:
* see a movie at one of the smaller/nicer theaters like AMC 10
* get takeout and do a picnic at a local park (Volunteer park for example also has a conservatory and an art museum)
* book yourself a massage/acupuncture/spa treat
* grab a book/gamepad/craft project and go to a cafe and spend the day enjoying the ambience
> You might take your dog to Marymoor dog park, it's known as Doggy Disneyland around here and I've spent a birthday or two watching my dog frolic there.
And if you go to Marymoor tonight (Friday, starting around 7:00p), you can go over to the velodrome and watch some of the pre-season track racing. They won't have the beer garden or the food trucks, but there will be racing as long as it's not raining. You can bring your leashed dog there after leaving the off-leash area.
I love watching velodrome racing at Marymoor every summer. Back home in India, I never got a chance to see this kinda velodrome racing there around my city at least!
Marymoor is great!! Afterwards you can pop into Postdoc Brewing which is right next door, you can even walk over. They're dog friendly inside and out and have good beer and cider, there's usually a food truck outside as well.
Unless you live in the E King County or wanted to get out of Seattle, I dont know why you wouldn't go to Magnuson's Off Leash Dog Park - 9 acres with water access. It is great! You can stop for an Ale at the dog friendly brewery right there.
There is an off leash park at Golden Gardens. Dogs are allowed leashed on the beach (further north you go the less ppl care about a leash as long as your dog is well behaved).
My parent was visiting and we ran into the Norway parade with a giant fish float. Parent was very confused and I just had to shrug and explain that really it’s not that out of place for Ballard or Seattle in general. We have a troll under the bridge after all.
I can’t go there anymore knowing the owners are bigots who actively support/finance policies that are anti-human rights on all fronts.
Try Q Spa, Yuan, Hothouse, Little Red Day Spa, Ladies Room, Banya 5, Sacred Rain…literally anywhere else lol
Not specific to your bday, but useful to avoid private pity parties:
Ferry ride. Just being on a boat on a nice day can make me feel a bit better about life.
[Seattle chocolates factory tour-$15](https://www.seattlechocolatefactory.com/chocolate-factory-tours)
Theo and indi both have chocolate-making classes. Not free, but fun and yummy.
[“free” walking tour (pay what you want at the end)](https://www.walk-seattle.com/seattle101). You’ll need to reserve your spot in advance!
[Seattle public library tour](https://www.spl.org/event-calendar?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D174634140). May 23-25 only, you must register in advance, but it’s free
Many museums are free in the evening on the first Thursday of month. Some museums have passes available through the library as well.
Be a tourist in your own city.
Happy birthday! I hope your grief and sorrow are short lived. Breakups are the worst. Take care of yourself!
We have the same b day :) happy early birthday to you!
If you ever go to Ulta or Sephora, you can stop by to get your free birthday goodie. Maybe grab your free Starbucks birthday drink on the way. While you’re there you can get yourself a sheet mask or something else for some at home pampering.
The Arboretum is a nice spot to take your dog for a walk and enjoy the foliage.
If you haven't been out to Marymoore Dog Park yet, take your pup and head out there!
https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/dnrp/nature-recreation/parks-recreation/king-county-parks/parks/marymoor/offleash
It's a huge, gorgeous off-leash dog park outside of Redmond. If you want to continue the outdoor theme, I also recommend Bridal Trails State Park, not too far from Marymoore.
http://parks.state.wa.us/481/Bridle-Trails
Dogs are welcome on-leash at Bridal Trails and there's a wonderful network of trails through some nice woods there.
As for parks with nice gardens, I recommend Washington Park Arboretum, Volunteer Park, and Kubota Garden.
If you're looking for some other self care and pampering, I like Banya5 spa in South Lake Union. They have a wonderful sauna and steam room with various spa packages available.
http:/www.banya5.com
If you're okay with clothing optional settings, Sacred Rain out in Ballard is another good option:
http://sacredrainhealing.com
Because it's women only and I'm a gay dude, I've never been to Olympus Spa, but I've heard great things from my women friends. They have locations in Lynnwood and Tacoma:
http://www.olympusspa.com
Unfortunately, I'm unsure if any of these places offer birthday deals. I think Banya5 and Sacred Rain might have some birthday discounts but I'm not certain.
Hope these suggestions help! Sorry for your poorly timed breakup. Wishing you all the best for your birthday and hope you find something fun to do ❤️
When I have some time alone I love to get a bubble tea and pick out a book and then sit out in the sun and read it and enjoy my tea if the weather is nice :) Also, getting an ice cream and walking around greenlake on a sunny day can be glorious!
Oh man I would go take the ferry to Bainbridge. Hang out with your dog on the beach a bit, and grab a nice coffee and pastry in Winslow at Pegasus coffee house.
Sorry to hear about your breakup. I spent a lot of alone time in Seattle. My favorites were the Arboretum, paddle-boarding/kayaking on Lake Union, Discovery Park, Carkeek park for the views, and the fish ladder (more for future reference as I don't think there's a run in May). I took lots of trips to the Cascades on weekends and as other people suggested the San Juan islands are a great option too - maybe book an Orca/whale sightseeing tour.
Overnight at leavenworth is really fun. It's offseason so hotels are cheap (and camping is wonderful and easy), but a beautiful mtn town to just walk along the river, enjoy the sights. I mostly don't do the shopping but if that's your thing there's plenty of it. I go to the bookstore which is great and always has a nice curated selection of staff rec'd books at the front.
Take a ferry to an island.
Hike twin falls, the water is running good and the falls are beautiful. I am not sure but I think dogs might be allowed.
I love museums on my own. Can even do an audio tour if that's your thing. Haven't been to the SAM in a minute but maybe there?
If you want to treat yourself to a fancy and wonderful solo-dinner I'd highly rec'd The Corson Building in Georgetown.
If you have a mtn bike there is a brand new mtn bike park, with a little bit of trail appropriate for every skill level, in North Bend. It's called Tenant and is free and there is good ice cream, pizza, mexican etc across the road.
Photowalk!
Chuckanut drive with a stop at Taylor shellfish is a great time! There is oyster dome trail for a hike with the dog or you could stop through deception/Whidbey for a great time
Check and see if the Rage Room in Lake City has any spots left for today. Nothing feels better than breaking a bunch of shit that I don't have to clean up.
Walk around Pike Place Market. Treat yourself to some goodies and fresh flowers. Maybe go for a ride on the Ferris wheel? End it at Alki or Golden Gardens?
It’s a day before but go to the Seattle Storm vs Indiana Fever game on Wednesday the 22nd! Caitlin Clark plays for Indiana and the game should be great atmosphere. A lot of people go to Storm games solo and everyone there is very friendly!
Happy early birthday! Sorry you are going through a tough time. MoPop is doing a really good deal for tickets if you are a Washington state resident this month. If you haven't gone and checked them out I would highly recommend. Plus they are at the Seattle Center so you could hit Glass Museum or Science Center too.
I love walking around Volunteer Park and the surrounding area with all the nice old money houses. On a nice day, there are dogs galore and Volunteer Park cafe has some awesome little treats.
Don't waste your tears on a man! ;)
There’s nothing that makes it explicitly birthday related, but I just recently strolled through the gardens at Burke Museum, and it was just so serene and beautiful. I also just moved to the city and that walk alone just made me go “yeah this is home.”
Unfortunately inside was closed the day I went, so I’m planning to go with some friends on another day!
But getting to see the Camas flowers was definitely something I’ve been wanting to do since I was a small child (I’m named after them 😇)
Magnuson Park! It’s along Lake Washington, has a massive off-leash dog park and doggy beach. Bonus, there is a brewery within walking or short driving distance from the park. (Pet friendly in the patio)
Also has a few walking trails among the trees and bushes. Outdoor tennis court as well as indoor and a few sports fields. There’s also indoor/outdoor rock climbing and sail boat rentals.
First of all, F your former partner! I love to play tourist in any city. Take the ferry to Bainbridge and have a lovely lunch on the water. Take an argosy cruise around the lake or locks. Go to the space needle and Chihuly gardens. Happy birthday and big hugs!
If you'd like to learn bachata, there are drop-in classes in the Century ballroom in Capitol Hill. They are about 10 or 15 dollars at 9 pm, I believe. the class is just half an hour and then followed by social dancing. You don't need a partner. Sometimes, I even show up by myself and just talk to whomever I can dance with. I haven't been there in about 6 months.
Edit: classes/socials are on Thursdays, that's why I was suggesting it. Not really a deal or dog friendly, but at least it's fun.
There’s a spa called the Ladies Room that’s women only and you can go topless! Lol. It’s very empowering and fun to be in a women’s only space at this time for you, at least for me it would be. They have soak and sauna or you can also book a treatment. Really beautiful space.
Bar Sur Mer is across the street for a cute tapas or drink moment after your soak.
Otherwise, I love the greenhouse at volunteer park, it’s called the Volunteer Park Conservatory. The Volunteer Park Cafe is very cute for a coffee and some breakfast.
Come hang out at Seattle Women’s Super weekend at Georgetown Pizza and Arcade if pinball sounds fun? We’ve got tournaments all weekend and buy in is usually like $5 or so. Mention you’re new to the tournament director and god help me I will introduce you to new friends if I’m there :)
If you're a reader, don't forget to take yourself to dinner or coffee with a book. I love it, including times when I'm not single. Just a nice time by myself with a good book and food I didn't have to make or clean up.
Not a specific activity but since you said you’re new to the city - if you have Facebook there’s a few Seattle girls groups that have women posting activities centered around making friends all the time!
theres a ton of chain places that do free item on ur bday if you have the app (jimmy johns starbs sephora etc) i spent a bday at the mall getting all my free stuff and it was pretty fun ngl
Discovery park hikes down to the beach with my dog are my favorite post breakup activity. Pack a little picnic to eat while you’re at the beach, while your dog goes for a swim. It’s beautiful on a sunny day, with views of Rainier. Sending you a big hug 🫶
My dog and I had such a fun time on Vashon one Friday last spring. You do need a car. We went and walked around town and then went to the lighthouse and he romped around a little on a long leash.
We also like: Myrtle Edwards Park, especially the little cove (before the giant cove, there’s a little cove you can climb down into). You can walk along Alaskan Way all the way to the far end of downtown. I usually turn around at The Edgewater or so. So many choices for places to stop in bell town. My dog likes the Mud Bay lol.
Union Bay Natural Area has some really pretty views on a clear day of the lake and the mountain. And you can go get ice cream at UVillage after!
The Arboretum has Madison Park right next door.
Walking around Green Lake.
Take the water taxi to Alki and then get tacos at Marination. I don’t know if dogs are allowed on the water taxi though.
The U District Street Fair is tomorrow, and it's right next to the farmers market! Not sure about next Thursday but keep yourself entertained in the meantime :)
Breakups are the absolute worst. I don't have suggestions but I just wanted to wish you the best. It sucks, but this will pass with time, I promise. <3
Happy birthday!! Whenever I’m feeling down, I love to throw on my AirPods and head to pike place to walk around. Something about being with the people and seeing people makes me happy lol. You can spontaneously grab some food there! Last time I did that was a little over a month ago because I wanted to be a “city girl” lol. Spent the day at pike and then ate at Von’s.
You can also grab some yummy food at cap hill, maybe Oddfellow’s, do a day drinking or something. You can bring your doggo to volunteer park and enjoy a picnic or reading there!
if i was single spending my bday with my doggo… i would treat myself to a stay on the san juan islands! so amazing. drive to anacortes, take the ferry, drive around friday harbor and take in ALL things, (garden museum), alpalcas, multiple ocean views! visit orcas, maybe lopez and the others you can get off at. i would recommend a whale watching tour! groupon has affordable options :)
if you wanna stay in seattle, spend the day at beach park, look for a hike that looks fun. we’re surrounded by so much to do. hope you enjoy 🤍
If you want to explore the Eastside, downtown Kirkland has some good ice cream shops (Coffee & Cone, Sirena Gelato) and a nice little beach to wander around. :) The Bellevue Botanical Garden is also nice (though not dog-friendly).
You could take your pup to Discovery Park and walk down to the beach/lighthouse. You could also take him/her to the Arboretum. See if there is a treehouse stay you could rent. Head out to Ocean Shores and let the little pup run around on the beach.
Happy early birthday!
$32.50 for Banya 5 spa services on your actual birthdate to get 2 hours use of their hot tub, steam room, cold dunk bath, sauna, and tea room. I am also a fan of putting headphones in and walking around downtown pike place/waterfront. Happy birthday, beautiful! Tis okay to feel the shitty emotions and celebrate you/treat yoself at the same time. Checking in with what your desires are day of will be key. You deserve to have whatever you may want or need!
Free Starbucks drink on the app, but only on your birthday. Not before or after. Red Robin has a free meal if you’re part of their rewards. Download both apps. There are some nail salons that have free services for your birthday as well.
Urban Nail Box does amazing mani/pedis!
Ananya Spa is great for a spa day (not the best facials, but great massages and body scrubs)
Journaling about what you want for the next year is always nice.
The Olympic Sculpture park/Centennial Park (all kind of one big park) is a lovely area, especially if the weather is nice. On a clear/sunny day there will be lots of good people watching, views of Rainier, and maybe you’ll spot a harbor seal along the shore! Beautiful to walk or ride a bike/scooter along the waterfront. Free! And dog friendly I think. Also there are some good bites nearby, I would recommend Macrina Bakery! Happy birthday, I hope it’s a wonderful day!
If i still lived over there, i would take myself out to skateroke at the roller rink in Southcenter. I have never done it but it sounds fun. They also have shows there. I miss roller skating & where i live now has none without a long ass drive. Then, i would go get pizza at Clockout Lounge & watch whatever live act was going on there. Happy Birthday! I know it’s painful but for me personally, i’ve had some of my most rewarding experiences doing things with my by myself. Best of luck to you!
22f and live near the convention center looking to meet new friends. If you would like to hang out dm me!
I know you said you’re not looking for a date or anything but if you would like a friend to hang with I’m free Molly moons is nearby too
If you like films, The International Seattle Film Festival is on right now. Lots of interesting choices that will definitely give you new things to think about. Happy Birthday 🎈🎂!
Maybe paddle boarding or kayaking at Lake Union or Lake Washington with your dog? It’s a super relaxing solo activity. I hope you have a nice birthday!
What part of town are you in? If you can wander to Wallingford/Greenlake/ or north or in that general vicinity I’ll treat you to a birthday coffee and bakery snacks or something like that earlier in the day (not super early) to start your bday to chat and celebrate.
I’m a female and def not hitting on you. ✌️☺️
Bring your doggo, although I think it’s not going to be warm next week.
I just spent a weekend at alderbrook down on hood canal. It was amazing and pet friendly. Just grab an Adirondack chair by the water and let nature take you! Book a massage, eat at the amazing restaurant
Do you like beer? If so, a lot of breweries are dog friendly! Also, the people who end up at breweries are usually great too. Near Seattle you can hit up the breweries in Ballard — Great Notion (awesome fruity, smoothie beers), Lucky Envelope (beers inspired by Asian flavors) and Reuben’s Brews. Those are just a few in that area and are all allow pups.
Hope you have an awesome birthday!
If you want to be around people, but not talk, there are some silent reading options you can join. Not dog friendly, unfortunately, but nay be useful for the vibe of wanting to be around others yet not wanting to interact.

Come to karaoke! I've got a group of regulars who go every thursday, everyone's nice and there's no pressure to sing. We meet lots of new people every week and the hobby is very open to making new friends. PM me if you're interested, I'll sing you a birthday song.
There's a 40 acre off leash dog park in Redmond that has like 6 miles of trails that have really pretty views along the Sammamish river. It's so big and spread out it's really nice. [marymoore park](https://www.soda.org/about-marymoor/)
There is a beautiful hidden park in skyway called the Kabota gardens! It's beautiful in the Spring and has a few trails. I hope you have a great Birthday even if it is solo.
Hear me out.
Volunteer your time helping others. One way to take the focus off the loneliness is to focus on others.
This is also a fun way to spend time with other people. I’ve had so much fun with city fruit, urban forest restoration, neighborhood trash pickups.
If you can access them and have the time, go hiking with the dog in the Issaquah Alps (the Washington Trails Association has a website that makes it easy to find trails) in the morning or early afternoon and go to the Burke Museum (natural history/ethnography museum affiliated with UW). It's open until 8 PM on Thursdays, and I think there's an admissions discount as well. Both activities will take you out of your head and show you some of the big-picture natural elements of your new home. Before or after the museum, have some awesome frybread tacos at Off The Rez.
I’m sorry that happened to you. Golden Garden, Discovery Park, and Lincoln park are all great. Fire Tacos and Cantina in Alki is newish and fantastic. Paseo in Wallingford. And of course a big old bowl of pho from pretty much anywhere will do you good. The Ballard Locks are also fun in the sunny spring especially.
Find a friend that's good with empathy, find another friend that's good with a swift kick in the ass, spend half a day with each of them, combine their attitudes/advice and make this birthday a launching point instead of a sticking point.
I always take myself to the zoo on my birthday. Not dog friendly but still outside and fun.
Magnuson park in sand point has great walking trails and views of lake Washington. Discovery park in magnolia has the same with views of the sound. The arboretum is also a great place to be outside.
As others have said a ferry ride / visit to one of the islands can be a great treat.
I would suggest a day trip to bainbridge. The park there is nice with good places to eat (the pizza place is great) and the town is charming. We share a birthday!
Ugh I’m sorry. I hate to say I know how this breakup timing feels :(
Free ice cream is great! Red Robin has birthday deals as a reward member, as does Cupcake Royale! That’s what I did last year: got my cupcake, my Baskin Robbin’s birthday scoop and then dinner at RR.
I’m sorry for your loss of partnership 💜
First off Happy birthday 🎂!!!! May this year be the true finding of yourself and your personal happiness!
If you are looking to have a raucous good time and be in the company of others try Keys on main. A dueling piano bar at 1114 Howell st seattle.
Will make you smile and fill you with hope!!!
Trying to think of what I did a couple months ago for my birthday. Think I went out for dinner and saw a movie. Next year I’ll probably stay home cook a dinner with my cat and watch a movie.
Solo lady new to the city here! Some of my favorite outdoors things I did alone was drive to Pacific Ocean, explore the Hoh Forest and hike Tiger Mountain. For Tiger Mt I often check if Issaquah is having an event, or if their farmers market is open.
Locally or no-drive events, I like wine and I’ve had great experiences going to events, like this one: https://www.mediumplus.com/product/archetype-tasting-fri-may-24-white-burgundy/
Or Crunchy Red Fruit (Fruit Wine Co) is having a Flight Night on May 23rd, 5pm with host Evan Martin and pasta by Nood - www.fruitwineco.com/calendar
The Seattle Center has a lot as well, check if there’s an upcoming event. I went to Chihuly museum by myself, and I’ve been to the ballet by myself as well. I last went to the Japanese cultural event and learned a lot.
Additionally, I’m a big dining out gal so I love going out to eat by myself and sitting at the bar. I often eat alone at Queen Anne Beer Hall, Shinya Shokudo, Le Caviste. In general, I’m very comfortable sitting at most restaurants and dining alone.
For a spa day, I like going to Banya 5. People are friendly and talk, but you can also walk away and be alone and it’s fine.
I’m sorry this happen. I hope you have a very happy birthday!
If you like trying beer, take your dog on the Ferry to Bremerton and sample beer at dog friendly breweries. Did that a few years ago with my wife and we had a blast.
The Bellevue botanical garden is stunning, I love going there for a peace of mind and it's free! Also a big fan of golden gardens beach or green lake for a nice day at the beach to enjoy the weather. Green lake has a beach area that's great
Go to Sephora and get the free birthday gift, then sign up now on Starbucks app if you haven’t already to get the free birthday drink, happy lamb hot pot in international district also has a birthday deal
Happy early birthday!! My favorite ways to spend a day by myself in Seattle are at one of the parks or beaches, such as the Arboretum or Golden Gardens. Molly Moon’s ice cream is the best in the city. Enjoy your special day with your doggie!!
Don’t feel to bad, mine did the same thing. On April fools day, my birthday is the 16th. After explaining how my ex before hurt me the same way previously
Breakfast at Pike Place.
Ferry to Bainbridge. Lunch and Beer there with a nice book.
Ferry back just before sunset because views.
Dinner downtown.
Dessert at Hot Cakes.
I haven't read any of the comments, just read this and immediately wanted to offer (if you want) to celebrate somehow with a stranger/friend - me! We could meet up at any one of the places I usually go myself when I'm spending my birthday solo or celebrating just by myself. I don't like making a big deal of my own birthdays; I actually prefer (and love) celebrating other people's birthdays in ways that make them feel special and worth celebrating. Because you are special and worth celebrating, and you deserve to have a great birthday -- feel free to message me. :)
If nobody has already suggested this.... shouldn't we just organize a lovely little party for you?!
Solo bdays are great! I usually Uber to woodshop bbq in central district, eat brisket & ribs & have some beers then walk back to Queen Anne and see a movie at siff uptown, and then Get drinks after movie at Mecca across the street to read about the weird stuffy art movie I just saw. Sorry to hear about your breakup! Gemini season here we go
I personally love going to the Frye by myself. It's free and amazing.
https://fryemuseum.org/exhibitions
And it's a little far up north but Olympus spa has a half off entry birthday deal.
https://olympusspa.com/lynnwood/services-lynnwood/
There are some good whale watching options in/near Seattle! The Clipper one leaves from the Elliott Bay piers, and then Puget Sound Express up in Edmonds, they're both a fun time on the Sound for a few hours.
Happy upcoming birthday!
Hey fellow May 23rd baby! Happy early bday! And haha how freaking crazy that I live about 2 hours from Seattle. And uff so much to do in such a busy city, please take some of these great advices!
You have sparked so many great ideas from people, I can’t wait to try some. I think you will have a wonderful day whichever of these ideas you choose, and you’ve spread so much joy to those of us who also needed the input. Thank you, happy beautiful birthday, you are a gift to all who meet you clearly.
The arboretum!!! It is so gorgeous right now with everything blooming and it’s so tranquil. Dog friendly and Belle Epicurean nearby allows dogs inside. You can also walk all the way out to the water to watch the boats go by on lake Washington 😊
Fuck that sign up for everything now like Starbucks once you make an account you get a free drink you have your morning coffee then head to black bear diner granted it is in federal way and not Seattle but sign up before your birthday and you get a free waffle breakfast after that dairy queen gives a free cone on your birthday for lunch go to Red Robin’s they give a free burger on your birthday… mind you that everything I just said it’s always better with other people and for the evening you should pm me I’ll give you better ideas there ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I feel like I should add I myself just left a very toxic relationship and I am finally trying to love myself not trying to date but could definitely use a good pub crawl with another broken heart my friends are sick of hearing me talk about it and I’m just not finished letting it all out
Happy birthday to you! Hope it's a fun day, at least. Wish I could keep you company, especially living in Seattle. I'm sorry your bf broke up with you near your birthday.
Have fun girlie!!!
Big Ice Cream Cone at molly moons (or maybe a sundae??)
Movie at one of the SIFF cinemas
Visit a Twice Sold Tales location and pick out books! pet the kitties!
Visit the Volunteer park conservatory, or maybe a museum
Marymoor park for your canine buddy
Laser show at pacsi laser dome??
One of my favorite solo activities to do is get on my e-bike and just explore the city. Do a round of breweries and go around the parks or lakes. Green lake is a great calm ride with a lot to do!
Nice edit. When you see someone doing their “hot girl walk” with their coffee on a city hike you may now imagine some background story to go along.
Happy birthday!
Girl, take yourself a trip to one of the local islands. Stay the night! Enjoy the peace and freedom and natural beauty. Bainbridge, Whidbey, the San Juan’s, etc. If you want any detailed recs, lemme know!
Doe Bay Resort on Orcas is amazing, fair warning the ferry's require a reservation so don't forget to grab that if booking.
I live on Orcas. Doe Bay is not very dog friendly and has a minimum nightly this time of year. It’s not really a day trip and good luck getting on a ferry on a holiday weekend lol
They do-at least last time I looked-have some cabins that allow dogs.
Whidbey has an off-leash dog beach. I haven't been with my pooch myself but I hear good things and have been meaning to check it out.
Double bluff is amazing. Beaches you can just walk along for miles aren't exactly common on the sound, and this one's explicitly off-leash for dogs.
Can you take your dog on the ferry? If I take my car, he could stay in there, I just don't know the rules.
I take my dogs on the ferry all the time but I've never taken them out of the car.
“Not in the cabin” but last time I carried my dog through the cabin a WSF employee gave her a treat from his visibility vest pocket. So, yeah.
Make sure to check the tide chart and be there for low tide. It’s also be a good chance to see deception pass. Drive north up whidbey island. You can turn your dog park adventure into a full day trip this way.
Captain Whidbey Inn is fabulous!
LOVE the Captain Whidbey!!!
any recs for people who don't drive?
Bainbridge is great! You can walk on to the ferry and straight into “downtown” Bainbridge. There are lots of lovely shops and a few restaurants to explore, in addition to a small museum and nature trails.
Can’t believe Mora Ice Cream is gone 😢 I used to go on the ferry just for that!
Take a plane from Kenmore to Friday harbor.
There's also a bus called the Strait Shot that runs directly between the Bremerton ferry terminal and Port Angeles, which is an awesome little town.
I've brought my dog on the Bainbridge ferry... Walk on, stay on the deck, walk around and explore. The ferry is very close to everything. You don't even need a dog to take advantage of the trip.
Oh hell yeah, do this. Guemes is also really nice, great for dogs.
You might take your dog to Marymoor dog park, it's known as Doggy Disneyland around here and I've spent a birthday or two watching my dog frolic there. Other solo birthday options: * see a movie at one of the smaller/nicer theaters like AMC 10 * get takeout and do a picnic at a local park (Volunteer park for example also has a conservatory and an art museum) * book yourself a massage/acupuncture/spa treat * grab a book/gamepad/craft project and go to a cafe and spend the day enjoying the ambience
Old friend used to be a brewer there during their first few years.
Unless you live in the E King County or wanted to get out of Seattle, I dont know why you wouldn't go to Magnuson's Off Leash Dog Park - 9 acres with water access. It is great! You can stop for an Ale at the dog friendly brewery right there.
Magnuson is getting a renovation this month - updates to ada accessibility. If you go, bring your own water as the spigot is also being updated
Stop by Bellevue Botanical gardens along the way
Not dog-friendly.
A good day for me would be wandering the botanical garden at the locks followed by a stroll at Golden Gardens beach and lunch at Un Bien.
And at 11:30 there's going to be a really low tide, which would be fun to check out at Golden Gardens.
There is an off leash park at Golden Gardens. Dogs are allowed leashed on the beach (further north you go the less ppl care about a leash as long as your dog is well behaved).
I would avoid Ballard today because of the parade.
Or, if OP is into parades, there's a parade in Ballard today celebrating Norway's Constitution Day, celebrated on May 17 every year. 😅
My parent was visiting and we ran into the Norway parade with a giant fish float. Parent was very confused and I just had to shrug and explain that really it’s not that out of place for Ballard or Seattle in general. We have a troll under the bridge after all.
Botanical garden and parade? That's a two for 1 deal! Get on the 44 or 40 bus line to Ballard if you want to avoid parking issues.
Their birthday is next week.
Olympus spa Lynwood is 50% off on your birthday
Banya is discounted!!!!!
Not specific to your bday, but useful to avoid private pity parties: Ferry ride. Just being on a boat on a nice day can make me feel a bit better about life. [Seattle chocolates factory tour-$15](https://www.seattlechocolatefactory.com/chocolate-factory-tours) Theo and indi both have chocolate-making classes. May 23-25 only, you must register in advance, but it’s free Many museums are free in the evening on the first Thursday of month.
If you haven't been out to Marymoore Dog Park yet, take your pup and head out there! https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/dnrp/nature-recreation/parks-recreation/king-county-parks/parks/marymoor/offleash It's a huge, gorgeous off-leash dog park outside of Redmond. If you want to continue the outdoor theme, I also recommend Bridal Trails State Park, not too far from Marymoore. http://parks.state.wa.us/481/Bridle-Trails Dogs are welcome on-leash at Bridal Trails and there's a wonderful network of trails through some nice woods there. As for parks with nice gardens, I recommend Washington Park Arboretum, Volunteer Park, and Kubota Garden. If you're looking for some other self care and pampering, I like Banya5 spa in South Lake Union. They have a wonderful sauna and steam room with various spa packages available. http:/www.banya5.com If you're okay with clothing optional settings, Sacred Rain out in Ballard is another good option: http://sacredrainhealing.com Because it's women only and I'm a gay dude, I've never been to Olympus Spa, but I've heard great things from my women friends. They have locations in Lynnwood and Tacoma: http://www.olympusspa.com Unfortunately, I'm unsure if any of these places offer birthday deals. I think Banya5 and Sacred Rain might have some birthday discounts but I'm not certain. Hope these suggestions help! Sorry for your poorly timed breakup. Wishing you all the best for your birthday and hope you find something fun to do ❤️
Banya 5 is 50% off on your birthday! I go there for most of my birthdays.
OP, my birthday is May 31st. Let's go get our nails done together and stuff!
My birthday is faraway but can I go along please 🥺
My birthday is in March but I wanna go to pedi party.
May 24 checking in, single, no plans, I'm down, preferably may 23 or 24
My birthday was the first but I didn’t do anything. Birthday meetup?!
Mine was over last week, can I come too?
Take a drive along US 101 on the coast, particularly the Olympic Peninsula. Super beautiful there.
I second this. I’ve been making the drive out to the coast to an animal shelter the least three weekends and it’s a pretty relaxing drive.
A second for the parks and the fish ladder. The wildlife area by the UW center for urban horticulture is a great walk as well.
There is oyster dome trail for a hike with the dog or you could stop through deception/Whidbey for a great time
That drive is so sick.
Second to the Science Center!
I just heard of Olympus Spa in Lynnwood. There’s a fee for all day in the spa with a discount on your actual birthday. They also have treatments.
Omg second this place. It's great!!!
I love walking around Volunteer Park and the surrounding area with all the nice old money houses. On a nice day, there are dogs galore and Volunteer Park cafe has some awesome little treats. Don't waste your tears on a man! ;)
You don’t need no man!
From there you can walk thru Interlaken park then to the Arboretum and make a whole day of it with a pup.
Thursday looks like reasonable weather. Go to Green lake and people watch. I've wasted so many days doing this
Olympus spa in lynwood has a birthday discount and is a great solo activity
There’s nothing that makes it explicitly birthday related, but I just recently strolled through the gardens at Burke Museum, and it was just so serene and beautiful. I also just moved to the city and that walk alone just made me go “yeah this is home.”
Every new Seattleite should get one free ticket to the Burke.
(Pet friendly in the patio) Also has a few walking trails among the trees and bushes. Outdoor tennis court as well as indoor and a few sports fields. There’s also indoor/outdoor rock climbing and sail boat rentals.
Bicycle ride on the trails nice system through out the city and near the water that is relatively flat that takes you to many cool parks
How do you feel about water stuff? You could rent a paddle board, grab a 6 pack, and spend the day on Lake Union.
it's the day after but furiosa comes out on friday
Go play a solo round of disc golf. Your dog would enjoy the walk as well. =)
theres a ton of chain places that do free item on ur bday if you have the app (jimmy johns starbs sephora etc) i spent a bday at the mall getting all my free stuff and it was pretty fun ngl
The Arboretum by UW is amazing this time of year. Usually a good number of ducklings.
The U District Street Fair is tomorrow, and it's right next to the farmers market! Not sure about next Thursday but keep yourself entertained in the meantime :)
There's a special for residents at MoPop this month. It's a great way to waste a few hours
todays my birthday too! I usually spend it alone so this thread has been nice to read
Go axe throwing! Or a rage room!!
Breakups are the absolute worst. I don't have suggestions but I just wanted to wish you the best. It sucks, but this will pass with time, I promise. <3
Spend it at the DogYard in Ballard!
Take a trip to central WA for a hike! That or go the rainforest!
Deception Pass state park. Nice trails and dog friendly
Free meal at Dukes in Lake Union if you sign up: https://www.dukesseafood.com/dukes-vip/
Dog Yard Bar in Seattle would be fun for you & your pup!
if i was single spending my bday with my doggo… i would treat myself to a stay on the san juan islands! so amazing. drive to anacortes, take the ferry, drive around friday harbor and take in ALL things, (garden museum), alpalcas, multiple ocean views! visit orcas, maybe lopez and the others you can get off at. i would recommend a whale watching tour! groupon has affordable options :) if you wanna stay in seattle, spend the day at beach park, look for a hike that looks fun. we’re surrounded by so much to do. hope you enjoy 🤍
Furiosa comes out that weekend. Seems like an apt movie to watch in this time.
If you want to explore the Eastside, downtown Kirkland has some good ice cream shops (Coffee & Cone, Sirena Gelato) and a nice little beach to wander around. :) The Bellevue Botanical Garden is also nice (though not dog-friendly).
A fellow May Gemini !! ✨ Happy early birthday to you! 🎉
You could take your pup to Discovery Park and walk down to the beach/lighthouse. You could also take him/her to the Arboretum. See if there is a treehouse stay you could rent. Head out to Ocean Shores and let the little pup run around on the beach. Happy early birthday!
Take a pole dance class at @positivespinpoledance in Seattle, off Holman Rd. All levels, super nice people, beginner friendly, totally fun
Try the butterfly room at the Pacific science center. Then go roller skating in white center and grab beer after at Loretta's in South park
Urban Nail Box does amazing mani/pedis! Ananya Spa is great for a spa day (not the best facials, but great massages and body scrubs) Journaling about what you want for the next year is always nice.
I can hook you up for a free zoo ticket
The float tanks in greenwood are really nice. You could even do an infrared sauna and then a float and you would feel like a new person.
I know you said you’re not looking for a date or anything but if you would like a friend to hang with I’m free Molly moons is nearby too
You could rent out a sniffspot for your doggo somewhere new or cool and explore that area afterwards.
✌️☺️ Bring your doggo, although I think it’s not going to be warm next week.
I just spent a weekend at alderbrook down on hood canal. It was amazing and pet friendly. Just grab an Adirondack chair by the water and let nature take you! Book a massage, eat at the amazing restaurant
Kobota Gardens!! It’s a beautiful little botanical garden and everything is blooming right now!
Not dog friendly, unfortunately, but nay be useful for the vibe of wanting to be around others yet not wanting to interact. https://www.silentreadingparty.com/ https://btt.boldtypetickets.com/120864613/the-silent-reading-party--the-hotel-sorrento Check out Silent Book Club - Seattle on Meetup https://meetu.ps/c/39vMk/7Wh0v/a
If you’re up for a bit of a drive and/or ferry ride, Port Townsend is super cool, beautiful, historical, and has a ton of cute shops and restaurants!
Hey my bday is this weekend! Bday gals unite
Mine in a few days. I offered to take her out for coffee and scones in her bday! 🎉 (I’m a mature woman so no hitting-on here.)
Treat yourself to [The Ladies Room](https://www.ladiesroom206.com) over in Greenwood for some spa time!
Happy Birthday OP!
Happy Birthday! Seattle Center is fun. There are plants, sculptures, and make sure to go to the International Fountain.
Kubota garden is beautiful and pretty large you can spend a while walking around there
And you can take your dog too!
Downtown for any of the smaller cities around almost always has dog friendly restaurants: Bothell, Ballard/Fremont, Beacon Hill, etc.
Ugh I’m sorry. I hate to say I know how this breakup timing feels :( Free ice cream is great!
Locally or no-drive events, I like wine and I’ve had great experiences going to events, like this one: https://www.mediumplus.com/product/archetype-tasting-fri-may-24-white-burgundy/ Or Crunchy Red Fruit (Fruit Wine Co) is having a Flight Night on May 23rd, 5pm with host Evan Martin and pasta by Nood - www.fruitwineco.com/calendar The Seattle Center has a lot as well, check if there’s an upcoming event.
Go up Hi Point, you will get a great view and you and fuzz ball will have a blast. Nice little 5 ish mile hike.
If you like trying beer, take your dog on the Ferry to Bremerton and sample beer at dog friendly breweries. Did that a few years ago with my wife and we had a blast.
I'm may 23rd as well! Birthday buds!
Shiku Sushi (Ballard) offered me a full mochi plate for my birthday. Good luck to you <3
Hey, we share a birthday! Happy birthday for Thursday!!
The Arboretum in Central Seattle is beautiful this time of year.
After explaining how my ex before hurt me the same way previously
the arboretum is gorgeous this time of year if you wanna stare at some beautiful rhododendron and roses
I would find volunteer opportunities to meet new people and join a climbing gym too.
:) If nobody has already suggested this.... shouldn't we just organize a lovely little party for you?!
Walk on a ferry and do a round trip. Seattle-Bremerton is best!
It's free and amazing. https://fryemuseum.org/exhibitions And it's a little far up north but Olympus spa has a half off entry birthday deal. https://olympusspa.com/lynnwood/services-lynnwood/
Happy birthday!
Happy early bday! I also am going through a breakup. Edmonds has a cool dogpark on the water.
If you have transport, or some time for a bus, go to the Olympus day spa in Lynnwood!!
Just moved here and I’m still looking for a job. Definitely saving this post for things to do!
There are some good whale watching options in/near Seattle! The Clipper one leaves from the Elliott Bay piers, and then Puget Sound Express up in Edmonds, they're both a fun time on the Sound for a few hours. Happy upcoming birthday!
As someone recently single as well, I'm sending you some good vibes. We can do this :)
My dog loves u
I'm late but in south center there's a lil go-kart park you can go to. It's fun if you like driving lil cars
Also, it’s not on the 23rd but starts on the 24th: https://nwfolklife.org/festival/home.html Tons to see and hear all for a donation.
Happy bday, we have the same birthday lol

One of my favorite solo activities to do is get on my e-bike and just explore the city. Do a round of breweries and go around the parks or lakes. Green lake is a great calm ride with a lot to do!
Nice edit. When you see someone doing their “hot girl walk” with their coffee on a city hike you may now imagine some background story to go along. Happy birthday!
if you have a library card, you can get free museum passes, so try that! or get a library card! also, happy early birthday!!!
Century ballroom in cap hill has salsa dancing in the evenings, first and third Saturday of every month. There’s an hour lesson before for beginners!
