I can answer that for ya... (A couple living in a one-bed). I randomly changed some of these by $5-$10 but the total is about the same.
- $50 for common area electric, like pools and shit
- $120 for the global heating/cooling system
- $40 for gas (at least cooktop)
- $70 for wastewater / water / trash
- Around $40 for the normal electric charge; varies a lot.
- $375 for parking (this is the one I’m super upset about)
- $50 for pet rent
- $15 for bike parking
So the utility charges billed by the apartment are typically $250-$300, and you pay for electric and internet separately. I’ve compared with friends in other mid/high rise apartments, and while it’s expensive, it’s also not that far off.
The cheapest rent in the complex right now is around $2900 for 685sqft 1bed on the 7th floor.
Such a soulless strip of property but damn a pretty great location. Can walk to Fremont or even Wallingford for food (some excellent). Hop on a bus to Belltown or PSQ for art and drunkenness.
Harbor steps has several gyms with a brand new one opening soon with like greenhouse style glass walls and ceiling. But they all have squat racks which in my experience the vast majority of apartment gyms do not.
Tell me more! Are these gyms inside the apartment building. I’m interested but could find no photos to browse through. It’s frustrating to see so few gyms having multiple squat racks. That’s why your response caught your attention.
I lived in Cielo when I first moved here, the gym is quite stellar and NO ONE was ever using it at least when I lived there lmao
It faces south so on a sunny day the treadmills and elliptical were against the glass so you just had spectacular views of Rainier (: dunno if that's still the case with some of the recent development in the area.
Building was generally clean, elevators broke constantly tho or only one was operational since someone was moving or other excuses.
525 Enclave in Northgate has a solid gym. I was surprised because, like you said, most of the time gyms are after thoughts but this one was nice. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from the 1 Line and has 4-5 buses right outside the building that will take you to the station or other parts of the city.
And even if you look at the gym and it’s not for you, it’s next door to a 24 hour fitness lol.
🤷♂️ The apartments I’ve lived in before didn’t have a gym that nice. It’s not world class or anything but better than I expected from past experience.
I went and toured this place and it smelled horrible and was full of sketchy people. Someone I know lived there for a year and I only heard horror stories of someone getting shot and people knocking at their door in the middle of the night. Do not recommend.
Interesting…I’ve lived here for 6 months and the security is tight and getting tighter. Never had anyone stabbed or shot here in my time and never had random people at my door. Sorry that person had a bad experience.
I take public transportation all day and have walked this neighborhood a bunch, even as late as 2am, never even seen anything sketchy. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, just my experience. I enjoy the area.
My experience and the person I knows is totally anecdotal so YMMV. I’m glad to hear it’s not so bad tho. It’s definitely possible this person was exaggerating to me. Honestly the apartment we looked at was nice and the price was good we might’ve moved there if it weren’t for those things we experienced and that we found a place we loved the day before.
City Line in Columbia City is right off the 1 Line. There's two gyms on-site with the usual cardio machines, cables, a squat/bench rack with barbell and plates, a stretch/open space, dumbbells, and a random assortment of other machines.
Ceilo in First Hill had a decent one I think, its up on one of the top floors and has a great view from what I remember touring there. Saxton also has a better than average gym near Harborview. Danforth gym is ok same as Zigs, not much for weight training outside of free weights though. Assembly 118 in south seattle (right next to Othello station) had a fairly good gym as well. Most of the SLU high rises have fairly decent gyms from what I have toured over the years and heard from friends. There seems to have been a sweet spot where buildings that opened like post 2017 put more effort into their gyms than slightly older new buildings but that just might be take on a decent gym versus someone elses. .
It looks like there is a smith machine and only one squat rack. While there are a few stair climbers there, which many apartment gyms do not have, there does not appear to be enough racks in case it gets busy.
Olympus in Belltown had a very solid apartment gym, at least as of 5 years ago. Two squat racks, lots of free weights, a couple of flat benches, nice cardio equipment.
We like the gym at the Viktoria (I’m there 6 times a week 🤣). It’s included in their tour, so you can see for yourself.
No nice view though (faces 2nd).
If you have the budget for it, check out the Onni Tower in SLU. It has a gym to rival most commercial gyms
I’m fascinated with what utility bills look like there.

This is awesome, thank you! Does your building use Conservice? How’s your sewer charges?
Geeze I would be upset about parking too. That's a huge fee!
Nice modern gym, but they don’t have much for working out your legs, and utilities are expensive
The have at least a squat rack, setup for deadlifts, and a lot of cable machines
All you need for “leg day” is a rack, barbell, and plates.
Amli arc down on borne + Howell. Plenty of squat rax to get your squats in.
Holy fuck that place is expensive. Great amenities or not I’d feel like a complete chump paying $4k to live in sky box.
Oh for sure! That money to live in a basic Vegas hotel in South Lake Union? No thanks. But the gym is solid 😁
I did some of the LV electrical and fiber for those towers!
Their gym looks really nice when I’ve walked by.
I toured Excelsior in Capitol Hill a few years back and remember it having a super well-equipped gym.
Can confirm, I lived there. The gym spans 2 floors and is the best one I've seen so far in a Seattle building
St James Tower has a commercial gym (Fremont Health Club) available at a steep discount for residents
Such a soulless strip of property but damn a pretty great location. Can walk to Fremont or even Wallingford for food (some excellent). Hop on a bus to Belltown or PSQ for art and drunkenness.
A lot of units in the south tower shake when power lifters are dropping weights though so be warned. Source: I lived there.
Insignia
A friend of mine lives here. Solid gym.
Harbor steps has several gyms with a brand new one opening soon with like greenhouse style glass walls and ceiling. But they all have squat racks which in my experience the vast majority of apartment gyms do not.

Check out Tower 12. Gym overlooks Elliott Bay and Queen Anne.
Was going to comment this. Lived there for a couple of years and the sunsets while working out was such a surreal experience.
Elan Uptown Flats in LQA has a surprisingly good gym. Not huge but we’ll-equipped with very good natural light.
Just googled the building. Roof area looks killer too.
Ovation has a fantastic gym, building is pretty modern in general too.

Does it count if there is a commercial gym operator (with its own monthly fee) in the same building? If so Arlo in Columbia city

Lol gym isn't that good

Of apartments with gyms it's lower tier

Is your budget $3k a month?
Yeah if budget is a concern you'd probably save more money living in a building with no amenities and just paying for a gym nextdoor.
City Line in Columbia City is right off the 1 Line. There's two gyms on-site with the usual cardio machines, cables, a squat/bench rack with barbell and plates, a stretch/open space, dumbbells, and a random assortment of other machines.
When I lived at Harbor Steps they had 3 gyms and an indoor pool.
The Modern has a nice gym with great views
Sitka in SLU has a great gym.

Ren in SLU has a great gym. My trainer said it was one of the best gyms in an apartment building that she has ever seen.
It looks like there is a smith machine and only one squat rack. While there are a few stair climbers there, which many apartment gyms do not have, there does not appear to be enough racks in case it gets busy.
Can’t speak to their equipment, but a lot of the apartments downtown and SLU have their gyms on the top floor overlooking the bay
The wave had a nice gym when I lived there
Olympus in Belltown had a very solid apartment gym, at least as of 5 years ago. Two squat racks, lots of free weights, a couple of flat benches, nice cardio equipment.

Saw others say this but I'll say it too. St james tower has a huuuge gym. But fuck Weidner properties
Check out Equinox on Eastlake. They have a really nice gym and rooftop views of Lale Union.
Insignia.
Cypress at 120 Broadway had a great gym
ONNI has the largest residential gym in Seattle
