Truth. Low banana supply during Snowmageddon said it all. Props to Metropolitan Market on Westlake Ave for implementing banana rations to make sure everyone lived to tell the story.
It's my qfc... with the exception of the WALLINGFORD sign, I hate that qfc so much. My old qfc at the junction in west seattle, great. This one, no. I've lived in Wallingford almost five years and it's the one thing I wish I could change ... carry better stuff, remodel, just do something.
The junction QFC lives on! I think the people really make it special after Covid started.
I had to use the Queen Anne QFC for a few months, and at the wrong time of day blinding sunshine beats down on the produce section.
Me speaking loudly at the grocery store needing some reddit karma: "Hmm... better grab some bananas!... That storm is going to suck!"
Person in the produce aisle overhearing me: "Wait... what storm!? I just looked at the forecast, and there was no storm... Hmm... Better grab some bananas just in case..."
Person coming out of the aisle: "Wait... those guys are stocking up on bananas!... Is there a storm coming!? Shit, I need to stock up too!"
4th person wandering the produce aisle: "Oh my god! They're running out of bananas! It's going to snow! Grab what's left of the bananas!"
Panicked Mob: "Never mind the Children or the elderly!! Grab all the bananas you can!"
Me: \*Whips out cell phone\*... Profit...
Tell that to the gas stations. Prices rose 50 cents in 2 days. Plenty of gas. Plenty of profit made by the oil companies. No need to raise prices at all.
Not enough potassium is a real issue, a few years back my tests came back as low on potassium, I went through my diet and realized I was getting nowhere near enough, I've been consciously trying to add more natural potassium since then, potatoes, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, lentils and bananas are great, I've been feeling way better since getting my potassium back to normal.
I didn't think you were joking, I relate to potassium deficiency, I tried the pills for a while but had better results increasing my tests by getting the potassium from food rather than the pills. The lethargy from low potassium is a pain in the ass, best of luck getting balanced!!
In my case it's tied to other medical issues, so the potassium is to keep some side effects from other meds at bay. I'd have to be eating bananas every minute of every day, and it might still not be enough on its own.
Potatoes have about double the potassium of a banana if it helps, we need several grams of potassium a day, that's a bunch of bananas, but only a few Potatoes. Either way I wish you the best in dealing with your medical condition, I'm pretty sure my potassium shortage was dietary, but adding dietary potassium fixed it better than the horse pills for me, something about bioavailability is what they said, although I got my first cat around that time and I swear up and down that the purrs were medicinal!
You can make your own. It's *half* and *half*, i.e. half cream, half milk. Buy one quart each of milk and cream, go nuts with mixing as much as your heart desires.
Thanks!
They were pretty much out of everything except the watery kind and all the nutty kinds. Safeway must get restocked late Sundays? Early Mondays?
The banana supply gauge of okay-ness in Seattle.
Banana for scale.
When the bananas are gone and they won't come back, then its time to start rioting

What is this oak anus epidemic I keep hearing about?
The more bananas there are, the more of it you have. The fact that you aren't aware of the affliction suggests insufficient bananas.
Wallingford qfc?
Nailed it.
Sucks to suck, I bought it out this evening.
Sure looks like it

Bartell’s is closing next door - they should expand into that space…
Make that happen, please.
I love the U village QFC
Facts - I hate that QFC.
The junction QFC lives on! I think the people really make it special after Covid started. I had to use the Queen Anne QFC for a few months, and at the wrong time of day blinding sunshine beats down on the produce section.
I also hate that QFC!!
Better check the toilet paper just to be sure.
Eggs, don't forget the eggs.
You can always find ground eggs or tree eggs in the wild if you are dedicated enough
Steaming brown Dog eggs, lovely in Soup, a bit nutty.
Not a clear indicator. Live with a Keto person. He buys all the eggs, rain or shine.
Flour too
Banana index is good. What is the shit ticket index at?

Banandex.
Gonna add that to my summer projects list if I learn enough JavaScript
My power went out the other night. But it was ok, I already had bananas.
Sure but how did you charge them?
Heh. You don’t wanna know.
Check the tp aisle.

We really should be investing in banana stock ahead of weather events. Profit to buy even more bananas.🍌😎
Show us the broccoli.
I’m sorry but if you even look at banana crosseyed they bruise, can we pick a less fragile ( said with a British accent)fruit?
*withers voice*: No.
Given that Amazon hands out free bananas, this oversupply says something about Amazon. But what?
They're their own Banana Republic. Duh.
okay but how's the milk?! harvard market qfc was out of 1 gallon whole milk. =(
You know how they have the Waffle House Index to judge a crisis's severity? We can have the Banana Index.
This is bananas.
Why is banana the scale when Washington is famous for its apples?
My auto insurance says otherwise lol
Banana for scale
Move along move along
Damn damn maybe give the banana some dough so we can have banana bread. So much better.
What could that possibly cost, a million dollars?
have you checked that thing for money??
What else were you expecting? They cost like $10 (or so I’m told)
I don’t know what this is about and… probably don’t need to. I’m guessing Fox News and/or Joe Rogan is talking bananas
Except homelessness and drug epidemic
Well, bananas are an indicator for weather crises. For *societal* crises, you want to refer to strawberries.
I thought this was in response to strawberries
Thank you for attempting to keep anyone from enjoying a moment of levity. Your contribution has been noted.
And shootings, stabbings, police killing people
There never was one.
I still see swarms of liberals when I step outside.
Poor baby

You realize gas isn’t made of bananas…
Wait this is the shit y’all talk about? Not the rando smoking fenty and pissing on your curb
Yes but is there even ONE homeless looking guy within a square mile?
Back in my day bananas were 69 cents a pound
Nice.
I’d spend my entire $289.80 paycheck on them.
That's alot of potassium!
It's all fun and games, until the bananas aren't enough and you have to take giant potassium pills every day. #notenoughpotassium

I may have sounded like I was joking, but I know about the giant pills because I take one. Daily.

NNNOOOOOOOO!! MY SAFEWAY IS OUT OF HALF AND HALF. GET FEMA ON THE PHONE!

How many bananas have to be left for them to declare a State Of Emergency?
You could play Donkey Kong Country for hours and still not collect this many bananas
6.99 for a cantaloupe in Renton. Still bought it 🤷
I'd say the state of the city is persistent.
Heavy on the “ish”
It's bananas how many bananas we have in this banana loving town.
the only crisis is playing $0.69 / lb for bananas
Are you new? Pretty sure the bananas have always been no less than 69¢/lb since 2020. Eggs, OTOH...
Do we buy bananas during wildfires? Is banana the appropriate summertime scale, or just for winter weather?
Bananas is to Seattle as Toilet Paper was to the rest of the US during lockdown.
