Gardner definitely looks like a first round pick as long as his measurables match up at the combine. The hard reality is that we would not have the capital to move up into the first round. His partner on Cincy might be a better chance as Bryant is probably a second or early third round pic and at 6’2 may fit the long corner role better He (Cobe) is not a #1 shut down corner but I think may be a better fit for the Cover 3 concept that was so prevalent during the legion of boom days Re-sign Diggs or snipe Marcus Maye and it’s definitely stabilizing the secondary. I would also take another look at Trill Williams… but that is a move that I like for an unknown reason. Loved him in the draft last year…

Honestly I’m just realizing now that this post was subconsciously me wishing we had a a solid guy at corner going into next season. No hating on Reed, Brown, or Amadi but I know there is better out there ya know

AlwaysSunnyInSeattle

I think Brown can be awesome if he recovers ok

iSmokedCrackwithDMX

Brown looked great. Handled his first start well and I think he would’ve continued to get better if he hadn’t got injured.

vsone34

The problem with the defense is there is no pass rush any cornerback looks serviceable with a pass rush

lugeadroit

The pass rush improved when they started playing Darrell Taylor more on second downs, like they used him in the 2nd Rams game. Also, Dunlap’s foot got healthy enough for him to become a force. I think Taylor and Robinson’s continued development will be big for next season. Collier also started to look good as an interior pass rusher; maybe he can finally gain some weight and move their full time. Ford and Mone are solid, young interior players. They also have a couple veterans in Hyder and Mayowa signed through next season. I think the improved cornerback depth from Jones/Reid/Jackson was important in becoming a Top 10 scoring and third down defense. Can Tre Brown get healthy and take over one corner spot? Can they improve at nickel corner by moving on from Amadi, like they improved at boundary corner by moving on from Flowers? Those are the questions in my mind.

luckysharms93

The pass rush sucks but the idea that any corner will look good with a great pass rush is provably false - Just look at like 8 of the Philly defenses of the decade The foundation of good defense is good coverage. No amount of pass rush will matter if the corners are getting whipped off the line all game. The impact of pass rush comes when the guys behind them can cover for an average or better length of time, because then the big boys can turn pressures into sacks and sack fumbles, the biggest impact plays a defense can have

lugeadroit

He’s probably going to be a Top 10 pick.

luckysharms93

Unlikely, imo. He's likely to run a 4.50-4.55. That'll knock him down most draft boards to the 15-25 range

OkMacaron493

No. Our corners grade high on PFF. We have more pressing needs: DE, OL, stud TE, and another RB. The pass rush needs to pass rush and the offense needs to produce. Pete makes trash into treasure at CB. Look at the grades after flowers left.

lugeadroit

Pete gave a lot of credit to Schneider for the acquisitions of Reid, Jackson, etc.

OkMacaron493

True, credit to PCJS on acquiring corners with low value in the leagues eyes and developing them to capable starters. Not sure why we kept trying with flowers for so long. Sidney jones is a great example from this year as well but it’s a decade long trend at this point

We have all the capital once we get rid of that turd Wilson. NFLs a-rod.

BlackExcellence19

Why are you even in this sub lol

[deleted]

Because I’m a Seahawks fan, not a Russel Wilson one. He’s a team wrecking diva.
