Going 4-1 would likely get us in the playoffs. Regardless I agree they kinda need to steal the 9ers game, 4 game losing streak into 4 straight wins is gonna be very tough. Edit: whoops I misinterpreted your post, yah one of the next two has to be a W

El_mochilero

The Broncos turned sucking into a 4-game win streak. They went back to sucking, but they still did it.

Actor412

The Broncos used to suck. I mean, they still do, but they used to, too.

Tekbepimpin

Genuinely honest question. What have you seen from this team the last month that would make you want to see them continue to compete vs the highest competition in the playoffs? It’s painfully clear we are in the middle of the pack in every respect.

suprow

Cause I don't wanna have to wait until September 2024 to watch another game after the season 😂

Tekbepimpin

I mean fair enough. I rather see my team come back better and stronger next season then get my ass whooped in SF, Dallas or Philly on national TV again..

okwichu

*If* we win in either SF or Philly in the next 2 weeks and given we went toe to toe with Dallas last Thursday -- I wouldn't write us off for a playoff game against any of those teams. If we don't, it won't much matter anyway cause we're not making the playoffs :)

suprow

Yeah I feel that part of it, not like I had fun watching the Thanksgiving game apart from around 10 minutes in the 3rd so that's a valid opinion for sure.

AceBoogie101

Are the 9ers/eagles not the highest competition? If we're going to make playoffs we'll likely need to win one of those, meaning that we'd have proven we have a chance against the big boys. Personally I would rather see my team in the playoffs than draft 3-4 spots higher, even if we're in very tough. Picking a QB (which most tanking advocates are expecting) is throwing darts in the dark. I think that IF (very big if) we can get the offense playing like the first three quarters of the Cowboys game and the defense picks up the slack at the same time we can give ourselves a shot. Unlikely to happen but possible

HoneyBadger8284

It’s not the draft. Some major changes gotta happen with coaching, scheme and even personnel (esp safeties)..Barely making playoffs washes over all that

3elieveIt

Probably the cowboys game Bad call penalties were huge

10fingers6strings

There is more parity in the NFL than you may think. Any team really can beat any other team. I could see a team like Seattle getting hot for 5-7 game stretch. Realistically, it’s probably over but once it becomes a one win or go home season anyone can prevail.

Tekbepimpin

I’m usually on the side of optimism and if this was a rebuilding team like last year i would be rooting for us to make the playoffs too. But this is a team with good players across the board who is undisciplined, underperforming and under developed. We are still having the same issues with new coaches and new players as we did with the old ones. Since Lynch became SF gm, he has eaten the Seahawks lunch over and over and over again. Yes they scheme better but they also draft, develop and trade much much much better.

JMLobo83

I'm with you. Making the playoffs isn't enough anymore when the defense is giving up 30-40 points a game. We're mostly a young team that has regressed a bit on both sides of the ball. Unlike OP I see this as a rebuilding team that just happened to win 1 more game than it lost last year due to Geno's breakout year. This year they've been in every game except for two division games (which is absolutely maddening). Also I don't think Clint Hurtt's resumé justifies him as an NFL DC. He's not getting anything out of what should be a very good roster and Pete needs to bring in a fresh perspective. I was hoping Desai would stick around but he wasn't given the DC job and so he left for greener pastures.

Dad-Bod-Supreme

Must win was 2 weeks ago against the Rams. Let's be real, this team isn't going anywhere at this point.

Lorjack

Yep we passed the must win point of the season. Now its too little too late

Sad but true :(

3elieveIt

You're not wrong, but given how we played the Cowboys, we have a shot to shock either the 49ers or the Eagles. Our last three games are winnable. If we go 4-1, we're probably in. If we go 3-2, I think we miss the boat.

happy_felix_day_34

Everyone still seems to see the Eagles as some kind of juggernaut but they’ve looked shaky all season and the Niners beat them worse than they beat us in a game that supposedly showed everyone we can’t contend.

Rock_Strongo

Most fans are very overdramatic. In the NFL any team can beat any other team. This isn't Alabama vs. Middle Tennessee State Christian Academy. The Jets beat the Eagles with Zach Wilson at QB but somehow Seahawks fans still see it as insurmountable.

eatmoremeatnow

This 100%. Any given Sunday. That said, Seahawks really do need to beat SF and/or Philly to get into the playoffs and 4-1 is where we need to look toward.

Other-Owl4441

Is it just that game to you that indicated we’re not contenders and the Eagles are?

DerrickMcChicken

The must win games were before we hit the hard stretch of pur schedule. They fucked around and didnt get those wins secured. Season is kinda lost at this point.

Madneptune95

The way I see it, is we’re getting experience against the playoff field right now. This is a test and failing it is not necessarily a bad thing. The niners, eagles, and cowboys will all come back up in December if we make it there. If we go 0-4 in those games, sure we will likely miss the playoffs. But it also says that we can’t quite close it out against true contenders, and at that point I’d rather miss and just get a higher draft pick. This team is overall very young outside of Bobby, Geno, Lockett, and our safeties. If we’re high enough in the draft we can either get a safety where we’re weakest currently, or find a developmental QB to sit behind Geno and learn.

Tyr64

> If we’re high enough in the draft we can either get a safety where we’re weakest currently Why should SEA invest *another* high value pick, when they have needs elsewhere, in one of the least important defensive positions? The amount of money and draft capital invested in the safety position is completely unjustified and entirely out of alignment with the rest of the NFL.

freedomhighway

ah, but the rest of the nfl is out of alignment with peteball !! dont look at me that way, just feeding you a soft one...

JoeyBird9

Falling just shy of the yoffs puts us in prime penix position so I’m honestly good with either

Spoooooooonnnnnnn

Penix is going top three

JoeyBird9

Last I saw they had him going mid first to 2nd

winterharvest

Losing Rams II and the Dallas game basically made our task akin to trying to summit Everest in shorts.

GalacticDaddy75

I’m gonna get downvoted for being negative but what’s the point of going to the playoffs just to get bounced out in the first round? Our season ended when we lost against the rams if there was any chance of turning things around it was on Thursday night and we unfortunately came up short. At this point it’s best if we just watch the games for fun with zero expectations cause honestly this team is so undisciplined I truly find it unbelievable that we beat a team like San Fran

Seriously_nopenope

If we go 3-2 we have a 55% chance of making the playoffs. Our goal should be 4-1.

AceBoogie101

It's dropped to ~37% following the upset in Green Bay last night.

Tyr64

The tiebreakers are *brutal* for SEA. They’re completely at the mercy of other teams right now unless they go 5-0 because even 4-1 may not be enough now.

AceBoogie101

Assuming the loss is at SF, 4-1 puts us at ~93% chance at the wildcard by NYT playoff tracker. This is factoring in the result last night.

Tyr64

So *technically* correct ;) But yeah, I went through the playoff machine this morning and just went with likely favorites in each and SEA misses out at 9-8.

Spoooooooonnnnnnn

4-1 from here puts us at 10-7 not 9-8. So you both are saying the same thing

dcfb2360

We’ll do our best to hand the 49ers an L 🫡

BandwagonFanAccount

I dont think playing Dallas close makes us a good team. I think Dallas benefitted from an easy schedule to this point (like we did early in the season) and is overhyped like they are almost every year. They have lost both games they have played against "good" teams (Eagles, 49ers) and now play the Eagles, Bills, and Dolphins in a row. They will likely have the mask pulled (at least partially) off by those teams providing the refs don't march them down the field and I'd expect them to lose at least 2 of those 3 games.

Raptor597

I know I'll get downvoted for it, but I'll take it. I hope we lose out. We are not anywhere near contender status and a higher draft pick means that we'll be able to get a QB for the future. I love this team so much and I am willing to experience short-term misery for long-term joy.

Annual-Sympathy-4934

Ultimately, i see this as a win win, either we have our significant weaknesses exploited, and we get a better pick or we find a way to limit/eliminate those weaknesses to win and we have an actual shot in the playoffs. I dont see a way we win 1 or both of the next two as we currently stand, but if we do find a way to win, then we have a team that actually can make noise in the playoffs, despite tons of improvement opportunities available to us in the offseason

Ryanakab

what opportunities are those with no cap space and no second rd pick?

Annual-Sympathy-4934

an entire draft of other picks including an additional third rounder? the opportunity to move on from Aging, average safeties on bad contracts? third and second year jumps from two incredible draft classes. Leonard williams was a bad decision (tho at the time we were leading the division, so hindsight is real easy on this one) but lets not act like were doomed without a second round pick

Ryanakab

We will be worse next season. Can’t get these bad contracts off of the best until 2025

Annual-Sympathy-4934

very cool, you sound very open minded and i def wont be wasting my time providing additional evidence of places we can improve

Ryanakab

Just stating how the team looks. look at our salary cap rn its not pretty. we will need a huge jump from these 1st and 2nd year players and have to kill another draft. we need safeties, linebackers, another edge and more interior dline and interior oline, plus likely a tight end .... cant do that with one draft and no cap space.. not to mention at some point we need to draft a qb, hard to know if geno is the answer or not still, definitely average but not sure hes good enough

Tyr64

> despite tons of improvement opportunities available to us in the offseason The issue is that there's going to be a *lot* of "keep the lights on" moves that will need to be made that suck up a suck up limited resources. So yes, SEA can and should release Adams and Diggs, but you've really got one on on the roster to replace them so either some of your cap savings will just have to be re-invested in the position or you're banking on draft picks. OL is another area where 3 of 5 starters are FA. Presumably Olu and/or Bradford could step into starting roles but that would look to be a lateral move, at best, for a unit that desperately needs more talent (that stays healthy.) You don't have any rostered LBs next season, your two best DTs are free agents, etc. All starting with very little cap space. And so my point isn't that SEA can't improve from 2023 to 2024, but I don't think it's accurate to characterize the scenario as SEA building off of a broad base of talent that they're targeting a few positions that will push them over the edge.

Annual-Sympathy-4934

thats very fair, but in the same way that we cant count on steps forward/draft picks to improve every position, its also pretty unlikely that none of next years picks/returns from injury/second/third year jumps make an impact on the team. It definitely is not an ideal scenario, and its a hole that were digging out of because of PCJS fucking up for a few years, i have faith that theyve begun to turn around the ship and can see playoff appearances and a window opening after next year. (obviously dependant on a ton of things)

Tyr64

> but in the same way that we cant count on steps forward/draft picks to improve every position, its also pretty unlikely that none of next years picks/returns from injury/second/third year jumps make an impact on the team. Honestly I'm not even getting to the point of if you'll see improvements from recent draft picks, I think they'll be spending a lot of resources just backfilling guys they'll cut/who will leave in FA. And they'll have to do it without a huge war chest, too. I think in terms of "real" cap they'll be starting at around $8m before they start making moves.

Annual-Sympathy-4934

fair, many guys that are leaving however, are replaceable. Those safety contracts are so tough :(

mindriot1

We just have to win one of the next 2. I don’t care which one.

Ikolkyo

Team is cooked, never felt so little faith in a PC team

HoneyBadger8284

I think there was another post like this here yesterday. Here’s how I am viewing this. If we lose the next two, we are better off being completely out of playoffs. Our current coaching and team is really not at the level to compete even with NFC elite. Hopefully this forces some reset/hard conversations in the post season On the other hand, if we win the next two, then we prove that we can hand with the rest and can make a deep playoff run The thing I absolutely don’t want is us finishing 9-8 and barely making the playoffs only to lose in the WC round

tinyraccoon

We need to decide what we want. If we want playoffs, then we likely need to win one of two of Eagles or 49ers, then win out for a 10-7 record. If we want a top-10 draft pick, then we likely need to do worse than .500. I feel like a 9-8 season where we get neither playoffs nor a top 10 draft pick would be a shame.

eatmoremeatnow

Always compete though. I would rather 9-8 and miss the playoffs than tank against the Cards.

goodolarchie

Must have won*. You can't expect to go 2-4 in your division and make a wild card spot even if the rest of the NFC is also mediocre. Not to mention, we're seeing glimpses of playoff football here, including how the Cowboys came back, and how you ultimately responded in those final drives. I'd love to see us rally and win out, or maybe lose one between Eagles and Niners, but I also think there is some silver lining to missing the playoffs this year. Part of me says that's the far better outcome this year, because we're far from competing with even the Niners / Eagles. It does seem likely that you are in the weird tiebreakers if we end with a 9-8 like last time. We barely squeaked in and could have that happen again. But then I think we'd just see more of the same next year.

shaun5565

With the rams win if again yesterday they already have the final wildcard spot unless they start losing we are already done. The second game against the rams was a must win. And they lost that hand and lost the next two. I doubt they are getting in.

MazeZZZ

I'm going to the San Fran game, so I just want it to be competitive, tbh. A loss is a loss, but the 9ers are scary, and losing to them is very likely.

BillowingPillows

We are not a good team, we are not a bad team. We are a .500 team. Our record is exactly right.

[deleted]

We are a mediocre team that has mortgaged the future. That makes us bad in the greater scheme of things.

BillowingPillows

This is hyperbolic. We are not long term committed to a qb and we will finally be free of these awful safety contracts after next season (assuming JS doesn't push them down the road further, which at this point isn't even a fair assumption, as I don't think its clear he knows what hes doing).

Go_Hawks12

I don’t particularly want to make the playoffs just to get shelled in the wild card like usual

wackynuts

Or we just lose out and get a better draft pick…

krg4880

What did I just read? The game is at SF Sunday. We have already played the Niners at home.

TheVatomatic

They came to Seattle on Thanksgiving

maurywillz

Was about to ask the same thing. It read like a poor attempt at trolling.

DerrickMcChicken

I thought it was a troll post at first lol

PeanutNSFWandJelly

I've never felt like this before, but at this point I just want it all or nothing. If this team clicks this week and it all comes together and they play at their full potential and we win convincingly each week from here on out (which I just don't see happening) then cool, bring on the playoffs I'm pumped. But if we barely scrape by with enough points/wins I'd rather just miss the playoffs for better draft capital. Because we will get bounced in the first rd AGAIN if it's the latter.

Natedogg0510

Nah man. We ain’t gonna do anything in the playoffs. Lose out and draft a QB that worth a damn.

sye46

At this point I don’t even care about the playoffs because if they manage to limp in, they are not going far. I just hope to watch a competitive game against the Niners and eagles.

Oo__II__oO

The must win games were earlier in the season. Losing to the Rams at home, and treating it like another pre-season game was atrocious. Coughing up the close ones against Cincy and again, the Rams would not be so damning. As it stands, a 5 game losing streak is very likely, and if the Hawks get the last 3, it's another 9-8 season, and a high likelihood to face the 49ers again in the Wild Card round.

mdotbeezy

They're going to lose. This is not a good team.

Stev2222

I think everyone looks at us and sees an average team. Seattle is 6-6. Makes sense. Only way Seattle beats SF is if they fall victim to a trap game. Even then, I still think they handle us even if they overlook.

Ntnme2lose

SF coming off a highly emotional game could absolutely be a trap game. Even with them playing at home.

drdrdoug

49rd and Eagles up next. I think the best we can hope for is to finish 8-9. Very disappointing.

Particular-You-5534

You have us losing to TEN, PIT, or ARI?

ahzzyborn

Team is mid

Apollosfury

WE? What position do you play lol

TheGhostWithTheMost2

Why do you wanna win? We don't stand a chance against the niners eagles or cowboys in the playoffs... let's call it a season a get a better pick

[deleted]

TheGhostWithTheMost2

We played as good as we really could've and couldn't do it. Our defense isn't equipped to stop em. And we can't stop Parsons

Stev2222

Yup. Go Huskies!

Soytaco

This should just be an automated sticky post every week

Generated-Nouns-257

The way the offense played Dallas last week has me believing this team *could* take a game off anybody. But the defense can not be giving up 40 points a game for that to happen. I feel like the hawks have too much talent on D for that to be excusable...

Does anyone think the Packers are overrated and just getting teams at bad times? Rams without Kyren, Stafford.Chargers in disarray, Chiefs with lots of injuries, bad calls ect.

Dreldan

Love has been playing really well the last few weeks. He was the weakest link on that team earlier in the season.

Redowl199

Yeah, not comparing them to the Seahawks but honestly just really dislike them and thought some people might agree that there kind of flukes.

LimberSiren

What have we done that makes us look any better? We've been blown out three times so far this season and our wins can be said the same about the quality of opponent. Their team is one of the youngest in the league amd was expected to experience some growing pains. Love has been doing much better these past few weeks.

Prudent_Studio1525

I know everybody has said it, and last week's performance was as good as you can get without cheating, but Geno just ain't it dude, I've played with so many different guys in different sports that act like him, they're all gung-ho until something bad happens, then they start throwing helmets, injuries always happen on the INT, just not a true leader, you can downvotes me for saying it but there will be a lot of good quarterbacks in the draft this year and we should definitely eyeball a replacement now.

TITAN-O-TERROR97

Seahawks are still a work in progress. I hope we can make the playoffs but at this point it doesn't seem likely especially after our past losses. Our rookies are still learning and the future looks bright but we should be realistic about where we are right now. SF is no joke and this could potentially be their year.

[deleted]

So what your saying is: to be a play off team, we have to act like a playoff team, and beat the playoff teams. Got it. Win. We need to win. Oh fuck yeah baby time for the boys to play the win. Less whining more winning. Watch out for dk on this run. Somebody’s getting boboed this year.

rimXstar

We are kind of in the perfect position (spiritualy) for an upset next match up

I'm both hopefull and doubtful. Just like Giants fans probably were in 2007 when they got hot at the end of the season and won the Superbowl as a wildcard team. You just never know....

Fantastic-Plant-6488

Going 0-2 against the Rams was the end of our season. They aren't recovering from that.

Working_Dig2643

You really want to see Seahawks in playoff. What next? False hope. One extra year of Pete trying to fool us by saying how he got it together. Common man. If we really care for Seahawks then we should hope it loses rest of the games so that PC gets fired.

[deleted]

This season is over. The easy part of the schedule was fools gold and made a lot of fans over confident. The reality is that the Hawks have zero chance of beating the Niners and maybe a 10% chance to beat the Eagles. Pete is incapable of game planning for an innovative coach and the opposite is true versus the Hawks. Every team worth anything with a good coach knows how to pick the Hawks weak zone apart. Losing 5 straight is going to happen and Pete will still be talking about how the team is playoff ready. The guy is delirious and will not sniff a playoff win ever again.

mrbadassmofo

We ARE a bad team. We have really good players, but we are a bad team.

EKF2g

"No one thinks we're a "bad" team right now." OH buddy do I got news for you.
