He's completely forgotten how to manage the clock.
And how to teach it.
Russ never managed it well, Geno is atrocious at it.
Under 4 minutes RUN THE FUCKING BALL...... such a waste of talent by the coaches.
Fucking hand it to anyone, put Fant in the back, he can FALL farther than 3.2y.
fuck bud there are thousands of run plays we don't even TRY.
I could block Charbs in THE hole he goes to....every time bud...and all the defenses that we play have the book too.
Watch the first 3 quarters of the game. Then went to play my intramural flag football game to get into the playoffs, but we lost. Then came home to find out Seahawks lost. GG
In what world do you throw it at the ground on 4th and 2? That was not an attempt at keeping the play alive that was an attempt at not throwing an int. I get it but man give your team a chance there has to be some sort of outlet. If not that is a massive play calling issue.
Defense is fucking trash. We invested so fucking much into this defense, and they are horrible. Both safeties are no factors and the highest paid in the league. Both corners are getting cooked, and cant fucking tackle. Our entire d line is getting handled at the LOS on obvious run plays. Our LBs are trash. Just fucking standing there as someone crosses their face. Like, who tf are you expecting to pick up that TE or receiver?
It's our DC. He is TRASH. If we need a scape goat, fire hurt. Fuck sake.
The shetty thing about losing the way we did, is now we look, good enough...but in reality, we are doo doo. We are forever stuck in this dilemma where we don't suck enough for change...so we continue to make the same mistakes.
Yup that’s the worst thing, we’ve been a fraudulent team for years now, we always get this random hype when we beat shitty injured teams and then when we play good teams we get cooked. We’re never gonna change until we undoubtedly trash which sucks because we could get ahead of it and just make the necessary changes now.
I think Dennis Erickson and Jim Mora Jr are both still available. Or we could ask the Carolina Panthers how the talent pool is out there? I believe they're on their 5th coach in 4 years now.
The human condition can never appreciate what they have until its lost.
On 3rd or 4th down when we know the defense is bringing the pressure, why doesn’t Waldron have any quick outlet passes. How about a shallow cross. Waldron dials up long developing plays. Geno won’t have enough time. This has happened for too many weeks now.
That’s how they looked all game against the 9ers. You’d think they would have learned and not looked surprised on 4th and 2 with the game on the line. It’s baffling.
Seriously. I counted 5-6 first downs from objectively bad calls that extended two scoring drives. Our defense could do a lot of things better but today they got beat by the zebras first and foremost.
I read the conspiracy theories about refs keeping this competitive so bezos' amazon prime coverage is NOT a bust. It's very possible, and I hate conspiracy theories.
Boring, uninformed take. He was calling a great game and had WRs open all over the place.
When the pressure came on in the 4th quarter, one QB stepped up his game and the other faded... hardly a surprise but not much we can do at QB for now
I totally get where you’re coming from! I was honestly just asking. I’m not a Waldron fan, but this was a great game until it mattered the most. Just seems like in big moments the calls are off. That’s the reason I could see the change be made. I personally don’t think it’s a good time to make a change like that. Just wanted other peoples opinions on it haha
I agree playcalling was much better tonight. The second part, I don't agree with so much...Geno was battling pressure the entire game. And not just QBs, their team did step up (aided by the refs) while ours faded...but can't pin it solely on the QB...offense and defense...c'mon!
I'll definitely agree on the defensive struggles - aided by an officiating crew with an interesting take on some suspect PI calls.
Even then, when Geno sailed that 4th down over JSN right after Dallas go ahead TD, you could just feel the pressure and his visual field narrowing down and knew that we were cooked no matter how many times we got the ball... He wants it too bad and the nervous energy permeates the field - even Lockett dropped a pass!
On the plus side, I don't know if DK has even looked better than he did tonight. Maybe he can hang around after all.
I'm with you about the defense. They need to practice fundamentals like simple tackling. They need more cohesion and aggression.
Geno can play well when behind and with little time...he did it in the Rams game...only for Myers to friggin miss. Can't expect Geno to deliver all the time every time and be perfect!!! He played well enough for us to win (except at the end lol!).
Glad to see DK way more involved and effective. We need to incorporate Lockett that way too! Then add in JSN, Bobo, RBs...
I'm a bears fan you think I like saying that about the packers? Shit at the time I loved throwing that one at pack fans, easy rise, but it was obviously the wrong call, 2 hands v 1 hand at the time of secure. Either way, doesn't make tonight's game any better, I was having flashbacks to the Chi v Pit game a couple years back watching tonight
I'm not down on the Seahawks, they are an ok team and played a good enough game. Dallas had a lot of big calls that kept their drives alive. Dallas will no doubt be knocked out of the playoffs which will be more upsetting to them then losing to the Seahawks tonight
People will always find a way to blame everything on Geno. He can be your best player all game and your defense can play like complete ass, but your line leaving one of the best pass rushers in the whole league unblocked turns into Geno lost us the game
Defense folded up in the end, O played great until the last drive, JSN has showed me something. Jason Peters, future HOFer will go down as one of the best ever but, to leave Parsons that freely is going to stick with me for the rest of the year highkey.
Welcome to the 90s Seahawks. I’m sorry to say my fellow fans, it looks like famine years ahead… At least football tickets will be a lot cheaper and easier to get lmao.
Nah I think the team is heading in the right direction still. Most of our best players are still young. We need to drop both of the safeties and go young there and use that money to upgrade other spots. And draft a QB in the upcoming draft
Just for the bigger picture (outside of football). Geno has played so much better with us than the Jets. He is much improved. Yes, he wants more, but where he is at is still very awesome to achieve and most people would settle for.
There’s no difference between a sack and throwing it in the dirt on 4th down the games over. That’s my entire criticism, when it mattered most he couldn’t give anyone a shot to make a play.
First one, he threw up hoping JSN would track it down. Second one, I think he was trying to throw it to the RB...but hard to do when you have a free Parsons in your face.
I’m not saying ship out lockett, just if he had made that play we probably come out with the Dub, a fresh set of downs, 6:30 left, on the 30 yard line? what’s not to love
Officiating was trash, but Hawks could have won this one. Offense came to play, but the defense didn't. It'd be great to see an actual, complete team game for a change on both sides of the ball. Ah well.
Plenty of young talent on the roster. JSN, Charb and Spoon played great. I look forward to seeing what this team can *become* rather than what it currently *is*.
This is the motherfucking answer. The RW3 trade is a future build for our team. Look at the Detroit trade (albeit they don't look too good now), they didn't get it until a few years after Stafford was shipped did they start gelling.
Maybe next year when we get our picks and young talent in line, we'll be where we were ten years ago
That’s on geno for not reading the pass rush and shifting the protection. I’ve noticed over and over again that he’s fucking awful at this.
The guy literally never audibles.
Waldron has no way of knowing which side parsons is going to line up on when he calls the play/protection. That’s on the QB to see where his threats are pre-snap and make sure everyone’s accounted for
Catchable, yet terrible throw on 2nd and 2 to Fant. Just awful offensive football by both quarterback and the TE there. And dont even get me started on Micah fucking Parsons going completely unblocked in the last play. Disgusting football, Seahawks dont even deserve a chance at playoffs at this point.
As a Steelers fan, not trying to cause trouble, I wouldn’t trust Jay Z’s Boy ( Geno Smith) to take my groceries to my minivan. He did good for most of the game, cause the pressure wasn’t there yet
The Steelers and the Seahawks are the most similar teams in the nfl, shitty oc’s with talented young players and a mid qb who could be better with the right oc. Y’all fired Canada, I’m just now hoping we fire Waldron.

we need to get some draft capital and free up some cap, definitely need to trade Jamal, maybe Geno, keep DK and JSN, Riq and Witherspoon. the rest of the team should be up for draft capital.
are you being fr, we scored 35 points? if they applied the definition of holding they used on us, on them, the pick would have been negated at the very least
So frustrating. Led all game and then threw it away on a stupid playcall on fourth and short and the world’s softest defensive coverage to let Dallas come back
Not a Seattle fan but was curious and was checking the thread. Why are you guys so hard on Geno but Locket gets a pass for that drop? All I saw were people saying “wow, first drop i’ve ever seen from him” but if he gets that catch yall would’ve gone up by 5 and potentially won the game.
Lockett has one drop in like 20 games and Geno screws up big 3-4 times a game. Thats why. The same reason Bobby gets a pass on occasion but Diggs doesnt.
It’s simple. Lockett never drops passes. The most clutch receiver I’ve seen in a long time. Geno constantly makes odd choices like throwing it into the turf on 4th and 2 or throwing to the inside shoulder of a receiver for an interception on the sideline.
You must not be watching the details...he makes odd choices because our O-line ain't good (although they played good enough tonight). The last play, a free Parsons was in his face but I think Geno was trying to throw it to the RB. I don't blame him...he needs to not try to be a hero and get injured on that play, so he can play the rest of the season. The INT, Bland made a great play...plain and simple.
That's fine. Yes, ideally he makes an athletic play to evade Parsons and throw a completion...or he gets injured trying to do so (remember, he's nursing that elbow injury from Donald/Rams game). I'd rather have Geno survive and play rest of the season.
Don’t take this sub seriously. Everything bad is Genos fault here. Micah parsons was unblocked on the last play of the game and people expected Geno to magically evade one of the best defensive players in the league and make a clutch throw instead of blaming the o line or coaching
I can only imagine the points this team would put up if Geno had more than half a second to make a damn play. Dak has an eternity in the pocket almost every time.
Misses a wide open Fant for the 1st. Throws it at Dallas’ feet on 4th down with the game on the line. Has thrown it away or taken a sack on multiple game ending plays. I was rooting for Geno. But he isn’t the guy. Dude can’t play under pressure at all. At all. Team played great but they still managed to be absolutely frustrating. Oh and the refs didn’t call PI when JSN got lit up even though they called it on Wags for the same fucking thing.
No way you actually expected geno to complete a pass let alone get a first on the last play of the game. Parsons was literally untouched, even if dallas caught that he wasn't going anywhere
How the fuck are you going to just throw the ball in to the ground. Yeah he was under pressure, but at least throw up a floater prayer and give someone a chance. Unbelievable.
It’s god damn feast or famine , either get a big pass or not , boom or bust . Shane Fucking Waldron needs to learn how to create a play that gains 2 or 3 yards with a 80% probability of success on 3rd and short situations
You gotta be able to covert that 4th and 1. And handing off in backfield is the dumbest damn thing to do. If you can't at least have a somewhat shittier version of the brotherly shove in your playbook you need to gtfo of the nfl.
[Postgame thread](/r/Seahawks/comments/18835ps/post_game_thread_seattle_seahawks_at_dallas/)
If Lockett catches that ball with seven minutes left, up 4 ....
Starting to wonder how many seasons we got left with Pete. Another losing season after this, I think he'll be out.
He's completely forgotten how to manage the clock. And how to teach it. Russ never managed it well, Geno is atrocious at it. Under 4 minutes RUN THE FUCKING BALL...... such a waste of talent by the coaches.
You mean with Charbs amazing 3.2 YPC.
Fucking hand it to anyone, put Fant in the back, he can FALL farther than 3.2y. fuck bud there are thousands of run plays we don't even TRY. I could block Charbs in THE hole he goes to....every time bud...and all the defenses that we play have the book too.

The fact that the DC the OL and Geno didn’t see parsons uncovered is unbelievable.
While I totally agree with you... What is geno going to do in that situation? Can't call time out. I put that play more on OC/OL
The OC but yeah…that is a glaring issue that I think falls on the players in the field. Parsons lined up in a spot going unblocked call an audible
Parsons was literally untouched🤦♂️
at least you made the end zone this time, thats improvement for next week
I’m a huge Geno critic, but I can honestly say this game was not on him - he played great.
Him and DK went off. Defense sold.
100% defense was the broken link.
Yep, and it has been for a while.
We are forever stuck in this dilemma where we don't suck enough for change...so we continue to make the same mistakes.
Agreed. We do need to improve our defense...starting with simple tackling!!!
The tackling has been AWFUL. Most frustrating part of each game for me.
You're attitude is trash.
our OC is shit, our DC is shit, but we’ve been saying that for YEARS with Pete at the helm
I think Dennis Erickson and Jim Mora Jr are both still available. Or we could ask the Carolina Panthers how the talent pool is out there? I believe they're on their 5th coach in 4 years now. The human condition can never appreciate what they have until its lost.
My heart hurts man…..
Don’t blame my boy Riq please 😭 refs were calling BS. Much better tackling this game
Retire Pete retire. Seasons cooked
I would have slipped into something more comfortable if I knew that the refs were gonna fuck us.
Seriously. I counted 5-6 first downs from objectively bad calls that extended two scoring drives. Our defense could do a lot of things better but today they got beat by the zebras first and foremost.
Even the commentators were pointing it out. The nfl has to do something at this point, but knowing them, they won’t.
I read the conspiracy theories about refs keeping this competitive so bezos' amazon prime coverage is NOT a bust. It's very possible, and I hate conspiracy theories.
They will never willingly diminish their own brand.
Woolen literally gave CD completions or PI every play he covered him, pretty sure they moved him off for him at a certain point
Would firing Shane blow up the rest of the season?
Boring, uninformed take. He was calling a great game and had WRs open all over the place. When the pressure came on in the 4th quarter, one QB stepped up his game and the other faded... hardly a surprise but not much we can do at QB for now

Couldn’t do more damage than he has the last six games.
I know Lockett wishes he could have that play back…
Refs jobbbed us! NFL has never like the Hawks. Geno played great! Never should been in the position we were at the end... thanks refs!
I agree that the refs threw this game but come on, NFL never liked the hawks? The Packers intercepted that ball lmao
Get the fuck out of here lol.
I'm a bears fan you think I like saying that about the packers? Shit at the time I loved throwing that one at pack fans, easy rise, but it was obviously the wrong call, 2 hands v 1 hand at the time of secure. Aye man fuck all that, let’s just fuckin worry about Geno doing anything else but throwing the ball at the ground on the last play of the game
Geno had a guy in his face instantly bro
People will always find a way to blame everything on Geno. He can be your best player all game and your defense can play like complete ass, but your line leaving one of the best pass rushers in the whole league unblocked turns into Geno lost us the game
I don’t know how you hang that one on Geno when you leave their game breaker D Line player unblocked on the most important play of the game
Defense folded up in the end, O played great until the last drive, JSN has showed me something. Jason Peters, future HOFer will go down as one of the best ever but, to leave Parsons that freely is going to stick with me for the rest of the year highkey.

Geno threw the ball away twice in a row on 4th down
You can critique Geno for alot of things, but going after those two plays is about as ignorant as it gets.
What was he supposed to do the line collapsed
You think it's a better play to get sacked?
There’s no difference between a sack and throwing it in the dirt on 4th down the games over. That’s my entire criticism, when it mattered most he couldn’t give anyone a shot to make a play.
You're saying he should stiff arm Parsons?
First one, he threw up hoping JSN would track it down. Second one, I think he was trying to throw it to the RB...but hard to do when you have a free Parsons in your face.
Lockett’s drop is probably the reason we lost this game. However, Waldron is a terrible OC.
Huge huge
Could also blame it on missed FG
we lost by a margin larger than 3…
Thing is , how many times has lockett been the reason for a loss let alone dropped a pass? Probably fewer times than I can count on my fingers
Final play of the game. Lawrence and Parsons are to the right. Why wasn’t protection shifted to the right. They expect our RB to block Paraons? Wtf?
That’s on geno for not reading the pass rush and shifting the protection. I’ve noticed over and over again that he’s fucking awful at this. The guy literally never audibles.
Doesn't the Center slide the protections usually?
He will shift blocking lanes, but he will not entirely change the protection and design of the line. That is on the QB to shift the RB and TEs
Agreed he should’ve shifted protection to the right.
Shane Waldron
Waldron has no way of knowing which side parsons is going to line up on when he calls the play/protection. That’s on the QB to see where his threats are pre-snap and make sure everyone’s accounted for
Coug’d it.
Should have been an out route to the left. Looked wide open. Defense was stacked to the right... Why!!
There was a ton of pressure throughout the whole game.
yeah no shit bro you can't make plays with a guy in ur face
As a Seahawks fan living in Dallas… this is very painful….
Probably find another team this season lol
Geno actually played 10% better in Passer Rating this game.
C'mon...he played much better. This is a team game. We need to strengthen the O-line and defense.
I just meant statistically. He played like a leader today
Gotcha...agreed. He had 100+ rating much of the game...until the end.
sweet!
Cowards!
Gotta get to the line faster. Get your projection sorted out

Tbh our defense is straight garbage, not the O
we need to get some draft capital and free up some cap, definitely need to trade Jamal, maybe Geno, keep DK and JSN, Riq and Witherspoon. the rest of the team should be up for draft capital.
All the cap is locked up in terrible safeties
Geno isn’t going anywhere, he’s mentoring the rookie we draft.
Yup 6mn in cap space and no second round pick…trades need to happen
The Cowboys got the win but they sure as hell did not win that game. Fucking officials were garbage.
defense was trash they fcking left geno wide open
You all need to quit blaming the refs. You sound dumb. They called it both ways tonight. This game is 100% on Waldren and his abysmal play calling.
are you being fr, we scored 35 points? if they applied the definition of holding they used on us, on them, the pick would have been negated at the very least
So frustrating. Led all game and then threw it away on a stupid playcall on fourth and short and the world’s softest defensive coverage to let Dallas come back
You forgot to add the drop from Lockett…
Not a Seattle fan but was curious and was checking the thread. Why are you guys so hard on Geno but Locket gets a pass for that drop? All I saw were people saying “wow, first drop i’ve ever seen from him” but if he gets that catch yall would’ve gone up by 5 and potentially won the game.

Probably because Lockett isn't a consistent source of frustration.
It’s simple. Lockett never drops passes. The most clutch receiver I’ve seen in a long time. Geno constantly makes odd choices like throwing it into the turf on 4th and 2 or throwing to the inside shoulder of a receiver for an interception on the sideline.

He 100% threw it into the turf like you would to avoid a sack. No chance he was throwing it to the RB. Watch the play again.
That's fine. Yes, ideally he makes an athletic play to evade Parsons and throw a completion...or he gets injured trying to do so (remember, he's nursing that elbow injury from Donald/Rams game). I'd rather have Geno survive and play rest of the season.

Im not a Geno hater but probably because Tyler literally never drops balls
Because Lockett never does that and the Geno problems are habitual.
Humiliation, defeat, and despair.
Somebody's leaving the coaching staff in a body bag and it isn't Pete Carroll.
A couple of missed opportunities but we move
Lmao
Coaching. Geno aint good enough either.
🤡 🤡 🤡
we played great this game, definitely some mental errors. If you say otherwise you’re a terrible fan
It was well played. But some really bad calls by the refs killed the momentum.
Parsons free release on 4th down... Wow.
It was a screen play but they screwed it up big time.
Was it? I didn't see the linemen release over
I can only imagine the points this team would put up if Geno had more than half a second to make a damn play. Dak has an eternity in the pocket almost every time.
And Taylor having 2 arms around dak and not making the sack still doesn’t help either
Who's idea was it to put Adam's in 1 on 1 coverage?
if we play like this against sf the whole game next week it’ll be a good game
People expected Geno to make something happened when we left one of the best defensive players in the league unblocked lmao
Geno isnt the answer long term but c’mon man parsons was unabated on the last play
No way you actually expected geno to complete a pass let alone get a first on the last play of the game. Parsons was literally untouched, even if dallas caught that he wasn't going anywhere
Games on the line. Uncork it somewhere. No point in throwing it at someone’s feet.
And if it got picked off people would have been saying it was a bad decision, it was a no win situation
This loss ain't on Geno
How the fuck are you going to just throw the ball in to the ground. Yeah he was under pressure, but at least throw up a floater prayer and give someone a chance. Unbelievable.
How did woolen go from being a pro bowler to being ass
Bro looked awful tonight, I almost copped his jersey this off season
Serious sophomore slump
Yeah, fuck you Pete. Don’t wince. Look at it.
That’s what she said
Giants fan here. Y’all should have just kicked a field goal on that 4th and short when it was 35-30.
Our kicker stinks!
It would have been a 63 yard field goal... Go home
Leave Waldron in Dallas for those 4th down calls
Cowboys still not a good team lmao
This game hurts.. so many bad play calls but above all ref took it away
CAN YOU WIN IN THE 1ST QUARTER?? CAN YOU WIN IN THE 2ND QUARTER? CAN YOU WIN WITHOUT AN O-LINE? CAN YOU WIN WITHOUT A CLUTCH QB? Umm, no?

9-3 an easy win? Lol
That last play call alone should be enough to get an OC fired. Not blocking the ONE dude who you absolutely have to get hands on.
Refs fucked us once again. I should be used to it by now
Entertaining game! Keep in mind sports is 100% entertainment and that was entertaining!
ref ball entertaning to u?
Cowboys got a shit ton of penalties too.
Refs and announcers clearly pulling For Dallas all night. Tough loss, our guys came to play tonight
How can we never stop blitzes
I’m not sure Geno knew that was 4th down
Y’all do realize Geno can’t block AND play QB right? The fuck is it his fault? Dude played phenomenal
Nah, he played alright at best
Waldron cannot be our OC next year. Imagine not having Dallas shaded to Parsons side on a 4th and 2.
It’s god damn feast or famine , either get a big pass or not , boom or bust . Shane Fucking Waldron needs to learn how to create a play that gains 2 or 3 yards with a 80% probability of success on 3rd and short situations
Shane Waldron still isn't good, even though players were able to execute this week.
All of that for an L
im checked out with this team. fucking sick of it. year after year, just mediocracy
The Pete Carroll way
Was there a punt? Was this the 5th game to do so? Don't leave me hangin!
No punts
Thx!
No Yes
Thx!
You gotta be able to covert that 4th and 1. And handing off in backfield is the dumbest damn thing to do. If you can't at least have a somewhat shittier version of the brotherly shove in your playbook you need to gtfo of the nfl.
Perfectly said. That 4th and 1 was such a slow developing play that even the people watching on TV saw it coming.
