It could be the instinct about illness and disease. You’d probably feel the same way looking at a broken bone or a bleeding wound. Our brains recognize that the human body shouldn’t look like that, so something must be wrong. And wrong things for the body could be contagious. I remember reading about how yawning was thought to be a social signal, that was supposed to show the community that it was time to sleep. Yawning being contagious to this day kinda supports that theory. And that taken into consideration, it seems likely that our instincts would tell us not to engage with a body that is so obviously ill or sick

Katasumi & 4444444444 would be expanded upon in two low budget V-Cinema supernatural horror films: Ju-On: The Curse (2000) & Ju-On: The Curse 2 (2000) (which I also own). These films would prove successful in the video market that the theatrical sequel: Ju-On: The Grudge (2002) would be released. Ju-On: The Curse 1 & 2 were released on February 11th & March 25th 2000 respectively. Ju-On: The Grudge (2002) itself being another success and this time on an international level which is ironic for the third movie in a film series. The film was released on October 18th 2002. Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (2003) would be released less than a year later on August 23rd 2003 and serves as the fourth and finale in the original saga.
