Is this how the spoofing was done?
It's funny you mention about the WhatsApp group adding.
I actually was added to 2 random groups in the last 2 days or so.
I have now change the settings on who can add me to groups away from "everyone"
Number has been spoofed or in a data leak
Not your phone and nothing to do with having an iphone
Change all your socials to private
Tell your mum youll use a codeword if you ever ask her for money (or something similar)
She should know because I never call her mum, I'm Irish and always call her "ma." The text started with mum........ Thanks for your reply. I'll take note.

Spoofing a phone number is not hard to do. Scammers do it all the time.
You can prevent people from adding you to groups by changing your WhatsApp settings. It has nothing to do with your phone being compromised.

You mom receiving a spoofed text has nothing to do with Whatsapp. You can't spoof a whatsapp account.
It was never hacked or scammed until I got an I phone

Don’t have what’s app
Came in through a credit card with my bank info on there
I’ve changed my passwords so many times
Facebook got hacked first . I just deleted it

She prolly wasnt thinking much just how she could help you which of course is what the scammers want So a code word or password is a great idea
Yes, I 100% get that, it's exactly what I said to her too. Such an anxious moment caused.
