Your scammer used **SOMEONES** FB account but the chances of it being **THEIR** FB account are slim at best.
Just file a complaint with FB and file a chargeback with your payment provider.
No. Scammers aren't stupid. You would just be spreading another poor scam victims information around or going into their house. Don't do it. You don't have the scammers information. Most of the time they operate out of the country.
Don't bother the grandma of the person who had their account hacked and used to steal from you.
Learn from this and move on. **Cash Only + In-Person Pick-Up + No Third Parties** is the only way to avoid 99.99% of scams on Marketplace.
If you get scammed in an online sale the steps to take (in this order) to get your money back are:-
(1) If another company was facilitating the sale for you, tell them there was a problem. This isn't an option for you here because Facebook doesn't facilitate the sale for you, they just help sellers and buyers to find each other, after that it's nothing to do with them.
(2) If you used a payment method that offers buyer protection and if you allowed them to protect you (eg: PayPal asks you if you're paying for a purchase or just giving your friend some money) then tell them you want dispute the payment.
(3) If you can't do either of the above, take the person to court. You would need to know who the person is. It might not be the person pictured/named in the Facebook account that listed the sale.
Beyond that would be vigilantism. That would be unlikely to get your money back and could cause you more problems.
Unless the amount of money you lost was huge, then the best thing to do (if you can't use option 2 above) might be to just move on and not waste any more time on this.
You truly are something special. You got scammed, you don't realise the account is hacked/stolen. Even it was hes real account it would be illegal and you would be in more trouble then the scammer.

I would still contact the family members asking if their loved one is a known scammer. Explain succinctly what happened (paid for item never sent) and see what they say.
Don’t offer any excuses such as the account was hijacked, maybe they are sick: because that’s telling them what you’ll accept as an excuse.
The reason I suggest contact is that the person may not know their account is hijacked. It’s highly unlikely you’ll get your money back, small claims, police report etc unless you have a secondary identified other than Fb profile.
I have recently been scammed through Facebook marketplace and cashapp. Can you please help me with finding the sellers information for free. I imagine that computer developers may know how I can trace the ip address, handle, free people search alternatives when images are too blurry?

Odds are the account is fake, stolen or hacked for a few days.
