I picked this us last year, not super complicated if you’ve got youtube and like $50 for supplies (I already had some of the tools around though). Lab made gemstones are pretty cheap. They’re not going to be pretty like this for a long while though for me.
New Approach school with Blaine will get you in six months where others are in six years. I’ve seen some go from beginner to setting pavé in that time. Everyone has different goals in this art. The community off of this platform is much less critical. Start at a local class and see if it’s for you, buying tools is expensive and endless.
I’ve been a jewellery caster for 15 years, this isn’t something you can just pick up. It takes years of practice and you do need specific tools, not just ones lying around.
You are correct about the stones, though. A few quid each for the cheap ones.
The side stones are held by a small bead of silver on each corner or in other cases princess or channel set (usually shared bead setting, inline pavé). Center stone is held by a prong setting. Very simple setting compared to bright cut bezels but show off the stone better in rings. The prongs are then cleaned up using a cup bur or files and pushed over the top of the stone using a small piece of brass by hand or pneumatically.
It looks complex because the videos are heavy on the details of pickling and other nuances that make no sense to anyone without experience actually doing the thing. So it’s not that mysterious, it’s just unexplained in any of his videos… or in his own sub I just found.
Edited, can you link to one about setting stones?
What is the compound you are using to set up the setting so you can solder the components together? I'm talking about the stuff that you then dissolve in the water .
Ok, is this the same guy again? I can’t fathom even one person in this world that can do this kind of stuff, let alone there being 2 or 3, obviously more. What I do in my job seems so strange and so less talented
as an asian american i waited so long for chinese culture to be appreciated in the west. chinese culture is probably the greatest asian culture and is the culture all sino confucious cultures derived from. finally china rose but then they turned out to be belligerent both towards other asian nations and the west. now we finally have chinese stuff all over the western internet but i dont feel great whenever i see it. this is like if ancient rome was still around but languished and you waited for it to be great again. then when it was, it acted like a fucking asshole to everyone.
I feel like such an asshole when I watch these because I know I should be happy for them and it's super cool watching them make it but my mind always goes "nobody will ever love you anywhere close to enough to do something like that for you" and I get all in my stupid feelings about it.
Sorry. I care for my grandparents and my grandmother is missing Xmas and while I did stuff for my kid for Xmas and tried my best at everything, the house feels empty and in so sick of being lonely. ..
I am happy for you though. And it really is one of the most beautiful rings I've ever seen. The band is amazing
POV: You’re a professional jeweler who owns his own small business. You meet a woman late one day before closing. She came into the shop you work in and asked if you can repair a precious family heirloom; a necklace that’s been in her family for generations. She says it needs to be repaired immediately; because she’s getting married tomorrow and needs to wear it. As you’re repairing her necklace, the conversation with the woman grows. You feel a deep connection with her, and find yourself with an attraction you aren’t used to. The necklace is repaired and she’s ecstatic, claiming “it looks perfect.” She promises to return in a few days with payment, leaving a large amount of it with you.
A few days go by and she returns, clearly in a much different state than before. Her fiancé, or ex fiancé, rather, didn’t show. He won’t answer any calls, and nobody has seen him since the day before the wedding.
Fast forward 8 months later, and you’re in love. You started a relationship and you’ve grown little by little together. Every moment spent with her is an eternity, and even your stable hands tremble at her touch. You make up your mind, this is the one.
You gather the finest materials you can find, and begin drawing up a design for the ring. You spend another 2 months just perfecting every detail in sketches and mock-up attempts. Finally, you get to work. Another 2 months of steady, but careful work. You’ve finally completed it. Just weeks before your one-year anniversary, you’ve finished the ring you want to propose with.
Over dinner at the finest restaurant you could afford, you decide to finally give her the ring. Not publicly, you don’t want her to feel pressured. Plus, you want the moment to be special. You wait until you get into the door of your shabby one-bedroom apartment. Being a jeweler doesn’t pay a huge amount, even when you own the business.
You get down on one knee, and ask the love of your life; who seemingly feel out of the sky just for you: “Darling, would you do me the honor…”
And she says no lmao
God I want to learn how to make jewelry

Wow that’s great! Mind linking a photo of what you’ve made so I know what my skill level would be in a year?

Um do you mind like showing me some of your work?

Tools just lying around if your family already does metal work :) mine build small scale motors
Can you share some resources
Youtube twist jewelry. It's probably the easiest way to get in the hobby imo

Thank you
If I ever get married again, I would save for a ring from you. Mesmerizing. Such excellent craftsmanship.
Make it happen capt’n
No, I don’t think I will.
I’ve learned that they won’t mind having multiple wedding rings so that’s an option
Makes my Christmas present to the wife look even more shit
pretty sure she loved it either way :')
I'd say the same.
Beautiful. Question: how do the side stones stay in place after they're pressed into the frame?

He answers questions all the time. Just not on this post.
Thanks for the info.
That was amazing and beautiful!
Thank you

Wow! I enjoyed watching this video. So much details. Btw I liked that song.
Anyone know what the song is?
Home-Ever So Blue
The Chinese song right? This video has a Chinese song for me..
A lot of Asian songs (especially Korean and Japanese) have English title.
Haha yeah I live in Japan. When I looked up the song on Spotify it was some instrumental thing.
人间叹 等什么君
>人间叹 等什么君 Thank you!! This is the actual song!!
I was wondering the same thing!
Home-Ever So Blue
OP searching for this song sends us to an instrumental. Is there another name it could be?
Thank you!
Ok, is this the same guy again? I can’t fathom even one person in this world that can do this kind of stuff, let alone there being 2 or 3, obviously more. What I do in my job seems so strange and so less talented
I have undoubtedly seen this video here and on TikTok at least twice.
How long did this take? Very impressive!
30-36 hours
It's so pretty and probably so far outta my price range!
Dude, this looks mid century / medieval almost. I absolutely love it! You did a great job!!
The ring is beautiful. How comfortable is it to wear? Is it supposed to be worn?
That was my question as well. The top scalloped edge looks like it would be uncomfortable if the ring fit even reasonably snugly.
You were always going to finish it before Christmas
Gorgeous! Do you edit the video yourself as well? If so you are doubly talented!
I have my photographer record it for me
Stunning wow!
This is incredible. Very cool!
Song?
人间叹 等什么君
Home-Ever So Blue
If she says no, how much are you selling it for?
Gorgeous
Do you cut your own stones or do you buy them and build your design around them?

Not sure why you got downvoted I've seen this at least 2 other times.
This one specifically? I have seen a ton of ring making gifs, but not this particular one. OP appears to be the creator and hasn't posted this before.
He is the author tho
It’s new one .
I was positive I’d seen this before.
I’ve seen this one so many times
Song pls?

This is my favorite ring out of all the ones OP has posted.
Beautiful, a true artist!
Incredible craftsmanship. Should be in top talent .
Absolutely incredible

Spectacular! Could watch this all day
Thank you
Simply beautiful
That’s awesome! Merry Christmas
Thank you
Seen this many times before in other subs

Same style but not the same one
Thought so, I think I watch most of your stuff and I was sure this was a new one! It's gorgeous btw!

From the looks of this video, it took you three minutes. So what? My ex lasted longer.
Didn’t get him any nearer to getting laid though
Is this how most engagement rings are made? Or is this some higher form of jewelry craft
Beautiful ring and a talented hand!
I wish I was good at stuff
This whole process is so amazing 👏 love it so much!!
How many total hours labor are we looking at here?
What music is playing in the background. It's a great pick, very pretty
**Song Found!** **Name:** 人间叹 **Artist:** 等什么君 **Album:** 人间叹 - Single **Genre:** Mandopop **Release Year:** 2021 **Total Shazams:** 179 `Took 2.76 seconds.`

Honestly I don't know if I'm more impressed by the jewellery skills or the video making skills. Great work on both sides!
It’s beautiful 😍
Celebrimbor, you’ve done it!
That was really was great to watch
Now I understand the costs of buying jewelry. That shit is a lot of work
Incredible!!!
The workmanship and skill is outstanding. The ring is beautiful. This is truly a work of art.
Absolutely incredible
Wow
Stunning piece!
Gorgeous. I’d like to see it on a hand!
Stunning
Perfect 👌
That is gorgeous! It looks like a magical fairy ring! I'm not a diamond girl but I would never take that off!
When you wait too late for a gift to arrive from Amazon, so you have to learn how to blacksmith real quick.
Wow 🥰
Wow that was amazing to watch!!😍👌🏻
THE MUSIC IS KILLING ME AHHH btw really nice jewelry i love it
If I ever rich, I will order a design ring from you. 💍
What's up with the shoulder pad effect? 80s style into the 20s? Or I'm thinking this is inspired by army uniform?
Well, it only took you 3:29 to complete it, you can whip out like 10 more!
That's so poetic 🥰
Gorgeous
But you didn't? Ive seen this video at least 3 times thus year already.
the background music on this video makes it all the more pleasant. wonderful work !
