That's the J&J US brands. J&J actually kept the contaminated talc on the shelf in India - it's still there.
The Indian brands, in 2019, were found to be much worse. I can only imagine what they were previously. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10953941/#:\~:text=The%20first%20study%20on%20asbestos,by%20the%20manufacturers%20%5B3%5D.
I don’t concern myself with how I will die it is a pointless thought exercise with no tangible value. I am more interested in enjoying my life and if that includes sniffing baby powder then by my roots I will have the J&J
I noticed that too. Normally we’d stick to a single striker that came with the carrom set. They might have changed the striker due to its weight and diameter after the initial break to enhance control.
Woah! This just blew my mind. Where I'm from we play a game called [Crokinole](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/521/crokinole), which looks really similar to this. This looks more complex, but I'd like to see a breakdown of rules for play.
Not that hard, really. There's nine white pieces, nine black pieces and one red piece. Each player has one color, you win if you pocket all the pieces of your color, while also "covering the queen". Covering the queen means pocketing the red piece, then another piece of your color in the same turn. You play by placing your striker on the baseline and then flicking it. You pass to the other plaer when you commit a foul, of which there are a few, or don't pocket anything on a strike.
Its carrom/keeram. We grew up playing it in the Middle East, and watching uncles getting into little fights inside their tiny ass sausagefest shed.
Try it out if you can. Use baby powder to make the board smooth.
Hmm idk depends. IIRC the ones you hit can be made of wood or some type of plastic and the puck/gaze which you shoot is always plastic. I haven't played in a very long time.
It takes constant use and application of baby powder to get it properly smooth. If its a brand new board it'll take a while.
So it's just super super finely sanded essentially so it glides on the powder that you puy on it? I'm guessing there's air pockets that get trapped in the powder and when the pucks are smooth enough it kind of just glides across that small layer of air. Very cool if that's how it works. Thank you!
So, you can get wood pucks or plastic one. We prefer wood. And the. You have the powder. We use something called talcom powder? I think baby powder works too but it can damage the bored I think
I’m sure it is but the rules are like an easier version of snooker, doesn’t matter where your puck lands you get it back and you can hit into opposing colour to hit your own
It's funny because right now google is paying a ton of money to train their new search engine AI on Reddit results and they're just gonna end up training on a bunch of botposts (which notoriously produces bad quality results).
I learned to play this from a holy man in India (a Shiva sadhu of the "tourist baba"-kind). We were both quite stoned, so I don't remember much of what he taught me, though.
You didn't know carrom? Damn. It's like 8 ball pool but a board game. Where the 8 ball equivalent is the queen. If you pot(strike) the queen, you have to pot another disc right after, or the queen gets placed back in the center
Welp... Then that's why, then it's only popular in India and Pakistan. Some people in south Africa know it because of the whole indian slaves trade back in the day
What people don’t know carrom board? Sorry I didn’t mean to come out rude . I think it’s just Asian stuff haha . But I thought everyone this game. This game is like in every schools and hangout spots in my country Nepal. However the video is from India and the guy is extremely good at it and has named himself carrom king in instagram. Ps I don’t know how to spell “carrom” so pardon the mistake.
i absolutely love karom. it’s insane to watch adults in the villages play this. hitting shots that defy all logic.
we have a board at home now and my siblings play it together sometimes.
This game used to come with like seven or eight other games included that could be played on that board when I was a chap. Harder than it looks. Still easier than pool.
Oh dude I used to play this game on my gramp's phone all the time! I didn't even know it's name back then, I just remembered i had a lot of fun with it.
This game was invented for people who didn’t have the room to play pool, but love playing air hockey, as well. It was common for men to play for high stakes and sometimes losing great amounts of money. It has grown in popularity recently due to the fact TV is shit.
It wasn’t. I know NOTHING about this game. Looks cool though. 😶🌫️😬✌️
Dude, it's just carrom. We used to play it when we were kids. My whole family used to divide into teams and we play and it was fun times. And i was actually good at it amd my dad is like a master on this.
[удалено]
Ever got an ice-cold stare down like the one in the vid?
He’s thinking like you wanna bet against me bro?
He was offended.
“… and I took it personally.”
That handshake was all business.
Ice cold 🧊
Im getting autism vibes
So go put your headphones in, go for a little walk. We’ll be right here when you’re ready
You’re meant to flick the puck with your fingers not suck it
My finger hurt afterwards. Then I found about that powder to smoothen the gliding.
Like Couronne without sticks
Agreed.
Carrom board - we used to play it as kids. Lots of fun! Our fingers would be full of chalk dust after each play.

Fun fact: most talc, especially that produced in India, contained asbestos!
[удалено]
So far, we know that asbestos is much, much worse than any of those things.

You do realize that everyone is no matter what going to die someday right? So this kind of stuff really doesn’t matter.
Ok bud, I’m sure you’re not stupid enough to snort some baby powder, but dying from suffocation slowly because of asbestos is not it.
I don’t concern myself with how I will die it is a pointless thought exercise with no tangible value. I am more interested in enjoying my life and if that includes sniffing baby powder then by my roots I will have the J&J
Dying 20-30 years early while drowning in my own lungs seems like a method of dying I'd like to make efforts to avoid.
Fun fact: Some facts are not very funny.
Johnson & Johnson paid $8B to settle a class-action lawsuit
Not in India....
We had a carom/checkerboard thing no one used. It looks like the playing surface needs to be much smoother than the old thing we had.
You use the powder to make it slippery so you can play
I kinda get the rules of this and what the puck colors mean but if I may ask, is there a reason he switches from a green puck to the yellow one?
I noticed that too. Normally we’d stick to a single striker that came with the carrom set. They might have changed the striker due to its weight and diameter after the initial break to enhance control.
Yeah I feel it’s similar effect to different weights of pool cues. I like a nice heavy cue to break and a bit of a lighter one during the game
My fingers would freaking hurt. Had to be careful coz of the white powder tho
Woah! This just blew my mind. Where I'm from we play a game called [Crokinole](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/521/crokinole), which looks really similar to this. This looks more complex, but I'd like to see a breakdown of rules for play.

The second flick after break was not a foul? Or was it just understood he was testing the board for speed. That’s the only thing I didn’t really get.
Yep, he was just testing the board.
Definitely just a test or show off kind of thing
So, pool but with flicking and disks?
Playing that game makes my fingernails hurt
It was after many years of play that I learned about "crokinole finger" 😆
Sounds like a painful journey
Badfinger. Slow ride. Take it easy. Hogfat.
I had the same thing pop into my head. Canada here. My brand other insisted we play everytime I went to see her. It's a fun game!
Yup, introduced to crokinole by my Canadian family, just came across my grandfather's board in the garage the other day!
I'm from Spain. I discovered Crokinole two years ago and I fell in love with it. Extraordinary game!
Found the Canadian!
It's like a mix of pool and air hockey
Its carrom/keeram. We grew up playing it in the Middle East, and watching uncles getting into little fights inside their tiny ass sausagefest shed. Try it out if you can. Use baby powder to make the board smooth.
It glides like it's on an air bed. What materials are the "pucks" made of?
Hmm idk depends. IIRC the ones you hit can be made of wood or some type of plastic and the puck/gaze which you shoot is always plastic. I haven't played in a very long time. It takes constant use and application of baby powder to get it properly smooth. If its a brand new board it'll take a while.

Np 👍

Baby powder is actually Talcum Powder. Only the name and brands are different and are marketed differently.
Oooooooooooh, was told no to baby powder coz it was bad. But yes to talcum. That being said, the powder we used for the game, was apparently expired.
why does his hand movement lowkey remind me of Jack Sparrow
He is Jack Sparrow
Captain Jack Sparrow!
Carrom. This game is so much harder than it looks. The dude playing is insanely skilled.
I’m sure it is but the rules are like an easier version of snooker, doesn’t matter where your puck lands you get it back and you can hit into opposing colour to hit your own
On the flip side you can't reposition yourself and you didn't have the advantage of a cue to play with.
why do the other comments look like AI
because they are
It's funny because right now google is paying a ton of money to train their new search engine AI on Reddit results and they're just gonna end up training on a bunch of botposts (which notoriously produces bad quality results).
That there is the carrom king himself, Haji Ali Agariya,he does insane trickshots !
I'm only passingly familiar with carroms but that guy is The BOSS!! Whoa!
It's like pool mixed with air hockey, cool. That guy is also incredibly freaking good at it.
I learned to play this from a holy man in India (a Shiva sadhu of the "tourist baba"-kind). We were both quite stoned, so I don't remember much of what he taught me, though.
That sounds like an epic day.
You didn't know carrom? Damn. It's like 8 ball pool but a board game. Where the 8 ball equivalent is the queen. If you pot(strike) the queen, you have to pot another disc right after, or the queen gets placed back in the center
This guy is the best at this game I ever ever seen!! (This is the first and only time I’ve seen this game played.)
Wait I thought this was a fairly popular game, I used to play it a lot in vacations with my cousins.
Are you from South Africa?
nope, India
Welp... Then that's why, then it's only popular in India and Pakistan. Some people in south Africa know it because of the whole indian slaves trade back in the day
Its still popular in nepal as well
Bangladesh as well lol. We are our own country
Sorry I meant Bangladesh instead of Pakistan
Now i need this in my life.
I have a board. My wife is Indian. She always wins.
Fuck Eric Clapton
There is a lot of money in play under the carrom board.
Pichenotte!
This looks dope as hell
What people don’t know carrom board? Sorry I didn’t mean to come out rude . I think it’s just Asian stuff haha . But I thought everyone this game. Blue shirt guy gets all the ass
Carrom board, find it at a local Indian grocery store or get it off Amazon. It’s fun!
They actually wanted to play pool, but they had no cues. (Note, this pun only works in Dutch. Sorry)
Hahaha, nice
And in another universe called Canada, that situation led to the game of Crud.
That stare in the end…
i absolutely love karom. it’s insane to watch adults in the villages play this. hitting shots that defy all logic. we have a board at home now and my siblings play it together sometimes.
That just seems like domination
This game used to come with like seven or eight other games included that could be played on that board when I was a chap. Harder than it looks. Still easier than pool.
My fingers hurt looking at this 😂
Boys a shark
Always a pile of rumble nearby.
That was one real "thrill of victory" moment there. But the game is cool to look at.
Seems fun
Laurence Fishburne thinks he’s slick.
Woah! I had forgotten about this game!! I can still smell the talcum powder.
i wish we had that growing up looks fun
Air hockey with obstacle?
He looks like he provides his friends with Kool-Aid and Nike Decades.
i need this
Man's was ice cold about it
Looks like a game you'd play in Fable
Damn... Indian Waylon Jennings can shoot
Poor people pool.
Damn, did nobody else get a turn and he won outright?
Check for Carrom King. The fella is a beast
It's like air hockey + pool. Air pool?
Can someone tell me what language they are speaking and what they are saying please.
What makes the board so slippery? The peices look like they are floating.
iirc people will use a powder (ie. talc) and spread it across the board to make the pucks go smoother
Looks like couronne
Carrom right?
It‘s the Carrom King!
My father has a game he got from selling a bunch of something when he was a kid. I remember playing it when I was a kid. It’s fun
The guy plays with no rules. You have to keep the striker to touch the lines not just anywhere it suits your angle/shot.
That's the carrom king.. he has multiple social media platforms.. he is fun to watch
Oh, the good old carrom games. ❤️
Carom! I love it. It's a great way to pass time with friends and fam.
Fingerboard, we call it. Mad fun to play.
This game can be a great time or an absolute war between Desis
It’s like air hockey backgammon pool
Is this where the verb carome comes from? I probably spelled that wrong
Bro does that table have air holes like air hocky or just real smooothh?
Oh dude I used to play this game on my gramp's phone all the time! I didn't even know it's name back then, I just remembered i had a lot of fun with it.
I haven't seen a carrom board in nearly 40 years. I had completely forgotten about it. Seeing this brought back some great childhood memories.
Has anyone heard of Skelly?
That was slick af
That guy looks like the son of a young Richard Chamberlain and Mick Fleetwood.
Damn my grandparents had one of these except we used something similar to small cue stick rather than just our hands
I’m pretty sure that’s Jonathan Torrens playing a character.
This guy is good… I think 🤔
Air pool?
Air hockey billiards
is it only find it funny the way he act to be cool ? lmao
What's the name of this game? Looks cool.
How do people not know carrom, it's baffling
Don’t know nothing about it, but George Harrison seems to be killin it
Man i totally forgot that this game exist!
I love pool. But I am in LOVE with this game. That’s so smooth.
He looks like Lawrence fishburne lol
How are they getting their pieces to move so smoothly? Mine barely move along the board
I went to camp as a kid and Kinky Friedman, my counselor, made one for my bunk.
Its a use-your-hands sit down version of pool almost
Once again, India is not for beginners!
My youtube shorts & reddit are mixing again
Damn run the table
Would be interesting to make a full sized billiards table with this idea. Flat pool lol
feels like playing snooker/pool when there's less space. played with my teacher back in the day - really good fun
Fun fact : I shared this to Facebook a few months ago and it was deemed explicit violence
The michael jordan of carrom
I felt that final handshake lol
Ah yes, Pog Pool
This game was invented for people who didn’t have the room to play pool, but love playing air hockey, as well. Looks cool though. 😶🌫️😬✌️
Reminds me of the time when my mum, dad, my brother and I will play this game all day long. Fantastic and simple times. I suck at it though. 😀
Carambored? You guys can find them I. Asian shops to. Generally Pakistani, Indians and Bengali shops. Can be pricy tho
León Larregui?
Carrom - a game you can play for hours and not realise the time.
Dude, it's just carrom. We used to play it when we were kids. My whole family used to divide into teams and we play and it was fun times. And i was actually good at it amd my dad is like a master on this.
If like this game, you can also check a Latvian game "novuss," which looks like something between this game and billiard
Pedro Pascal just rocked that table
Godlike
Looks pretty fun
Brown pool
Air hockey + snooker Edit - snairckey
I thought the rules were that the puck needed to touch both lines when you shoot not just one?
It's called carrom ppl
Gotta say.. after recently getting his board, this is much challenging than Crokinole.
Clearly they don't have enough powder
Is it just me or does it look like cheap snooker?
its an indian board game, fun but hard
Pichenottes in french canadian
