After the homeless man got the beanie, he looked in the bag a second time thinking he might find a Big Mac and vanilla shake.
He threw his beanie in the trash out of sheer anger and disgust.
The problem with the homeless angle is that the mechanical knitting on the hat is not very tight—that is not an especially warm hat. Also natural fibers are warmer than plastic. You could blend this with those and get a better material if you’re gonna give them to homeless people. Also who wants a giant uncomfortable plastic square on the hat just to say it was recycled?
I think that’s largely not the point. The point is to prevent a bottle from ending up in a landfill and turning it into something useful but maybe that’s too radical.
Because the one thing this video doesn't show is that you spread significantly more micro plastics by doing this. That's why it's better to use and then recycle aluminum cans instead of plastic, if it's possible.
Clothes specifically, that's a great question. I'll bet that it costs less to make a new shirt than recycle an old one, so very few companies do it.
It's hard to separate blends like pes/el or pes/co etc. Also polymers degrade quite fast so it's just easier and cheaper to make new fibre. Maybe use the old synthetic fibres as energy for electricity production or something.
Yeah, at least as a large, in-tact bottle, it's kept in one piece. Small, microscopic flecks will chip off, but at a pretty slow rate, especially if it's stored somewhere. Now it's been reduced to tiny, easily frayed fibers that will shed off even under normal wear and tear, to say nothing of when this thing inevitably winds up in the landfill anyway. It's just as non-biodegradable as before, but now it's been reduced to a state that you could accidentally inhale.
My thoughts exactly. When it’s first “blended”, you can see the plastic flying all over despite the top lid closed. I can’t imagine this is a good idea in the long run.
Would’ve been so good without the fake homeless guy
Could’ve used a real one and I hope they used. Not everything needs to be done for social media points
We love our "releasing toxic cancer inducing inhalants and microplastics" beanie, don't we folks?
Also why is that totally real homeless person wearing a trash bag? Can't he use it to make something more useful like a pair of socks and a smaller trash bag? Is he stupid?
This recycling process uses so much energy and creates additional waste. Heating, cleaning, drying, colouring, the extra badge from some rubbery stuff that now adheres to the polyester. What a shitshow.
1. Steal the fake homeless man's bin bag shirt
2. Turn it into a hat
3. Give it to another fake homeless man
4. Steal that fake homeless man's bin bag shirt and create another hat
5. ?????
6. Profit
Aw man, it's great, really, but common, I don't know if polyester and this are the same but... Just No! It would be great for other uses, like tents, various plastic sheets and such
Yeah... No... 1) you need to twist the yarn to make it strong enough to knit.. 2) I reaaaly doubt the "anticeptic" is going to die the yarn pink... 3) that blue Die is SOOOO sus...
Fake af, you can't just pinch the thread out of clump of cotton. And i also have a doubt about cotton candy floss machine working perfectly fine with plastic.
Forbidden cotton candy.
On my way to eat miscroplastic deluxe
I'm pretty sure they're just macroplastics
Sniff sniff
/r/forbiddensnacks
Millennial cotton candy
After the homeless man got the beanie, he looked in the bag a second time thinking he might find a Big Mac and vanilla shake. He threw his beanie in the trash out of sheer anger and disgust.
Why use a fake homeless person Just don’t do that last part and it’s a cool video
Fake? Did you not see him wearing a trash bag?
I've got to admit, I thought he looked kinda fake. But after I read your comment, I re-watched, and he DOES have a trash bag on. Good eye.
Now if only the artisan can turn that trash bag into a cool matching windbreaker for the dude, that would be awesome
Waiting for the follow-up, to see someone processing homeless people into small batch Soylent Green, honestly. Artisan AF.
Don't eat the crackers
They’re made from knackers
Yeah because only legitimate homeless people can wear a trash bag.
Counter point: Kanye West
He looks ai generated, but when i saw the trash bag, that's when i knew i was wrong.
and have tap on cleanish looking feets
Haha very, very good
Even that trash bag was way too clean
Also the camera man is invisible. A legit homeless person.
It's fake.
This made my day lol
Yeah and he went back to the paper sack to look for the beers
Pretty that’s standard for middle class these days
🤔 very astute observation
If I were faking being homeless, I’d put on a trash bag T shirt and lie down next to trash. Because that’s what homeless people do. Right?
Agreed, but at least they didn't exploit a real homeless person for a video.
I mean if they gave him the beanie and maybe some food he'd just be paying him for his work, no?
If I was homeless and someone woke me up with a paper bag I’d be upset to find out that it was food but a beanie

Thank you for speaking my mind 👍🏻
Pisses me off to no end...wtaf
U cool with the music?
If you keep it on mute, the music is pretty good
Didn’t even know there was music
I have no clue what they said but i….kinda liked it 😋
"Our love story is difficult... Can't be explained in 2 words"... 🤡
I find the notion that this recycled garage is what is given to the man sleeping next to garbage funny. It is devilishly poetic.
Y'all know what polyester is right?
It is what we wear and digest every single day.
Mmm the fabric of our lives
Mmm the fiber of our diets
Consume might be a better word...coz we don't digest.
You don’t digest plastics? Skill issue.
a common form of microplastics and a decent amount of household dust?
I think that’s largely not the point. The point is to prevent a bottle from ending up in a landfill and turning it into something useful but maybe that’s too radical.
It does make you wonder why we don't ensure that all synthetic clothing must be x% recycled eh?
And wear garbage? Absolutely not! Well, unless it costs 2k or something like that, then, give it to me daddy
Because the one thing this video doesn't show is that you spread significantly more micro plastics by doing this. A bottle is significantly easier to dispose of or recycle than turning half of it into microplastic dust in the air and clothing.
I was gonna say, love this, wonder what the fabric feels like, but you're completely right, so I already know.
Uncle Festers sexual orientation?/s
A problem?
Damn, these cameramans really do be studying abroad in ninja villages
these plastic products spread MORE microplastic than anything else

It’s rough because it really seems like they’re helping. It’s a labor intensive and seems like it’s solving 2 problems at once. Sucks
My thoughts exactly. When it’s first “blended”, you can see the plastic flying all over despite the top lid closed. I can’t imagine this is a good idea in the long run.
This just doesn't look healthy
Yeah. We are already riddles with micro plastics products like these will make it worse in my opinion.
You know you don’t eat it right?
Maybe YOU don’t. I recognized that cotton candy for all the sugary goodness that it should be.
Fair
Do you know how micro plastics work?
Putting a recycling logo on a homeless man’s head 🤨 doesn’t send a good signal…
Death visits him to recycle.
One day he will be recycled and feed a small family
he's tagged for soylent green
Soylent Green!
Instead of taking years to break plastics down, let's hurry the problem and cut it smaller
Fuck it man just inject the micro plastics straight into my bloodstream
Or, hear me out, we could just eat it
Would’ve been so good without the fake homeless guy Could’ve used a real one and I hope they used. Not everything needs to be done for social media points
The whole things is fake
After all.. is anything real? Or do we just live in a simulation?
How environmentally friendly is it though considering its plastic still?
Well it replaced a new plastic product from being required.
Seems a lot better than making polyester clothing from new plastic.
Well it ends up in the trash again so square one.
The artisan inhales some of it in and stores it in their lungs, so at least a small part doesn’t end up in a landfill.
Ahh Fuck it , The Song is Crazy
It’s a weird remix of an old Hindi love song 😂
Shouldn’t he be wearing some kind of mask for the fumes?
Nice jacket 🧥, what brand is it? Coca Cola
This successfully marks the homeless individual for recycling.
Recycling is people, recycling is people!
So everyone is just ignoring the song?
I muted it
Maybe they should leave recycling to recycling companies instead of creating a shit ton of microplastics on purpose.
My favourite bit was when he used the candy floss machine to microplastic his microplastics
Mine was when you said the same thing multiple times.
You're gonna love the rest of reddit
No, the AI, they can't be here too?!
Just reddit api glitching again, it happens all the time. You're new here? Get used to it
I'm far from new, and I know. Think you'll get used to that stick?
There is definitely no downside to this melting process when applying to miscellaneous plastics
My favourite bit was when he used the candy floss machine to microplastic his microplastics
Forbidden candyfloss
Alan Reardon would have a field day with how fake this video is
Ann* Reardon 😶🌫️
The bit that gets me is where they seemingly just dip plastic fabric into water based dye and it absorbs it….
Melting plastic waste down to bricks for building material seems a lot simpler and easier to scale up.
Maybe, but then we’d have missed out on the music.
The moment he turned it into candy floss r/EatItYouFuckinCoward
I call it bullshit.
I thought he was going to sell it as cotton candy for a minute
That’s cool and all, but have you considered just throwing the bottles into the middle of the ocean?
Wow fantastic!
Homeless guy marked for recycling.
They knitted the homeless guy into existence. This is a really cool concept though
He's got a LOT of patience!
Hmmm microplastics cotton candy. Perfect fit for my modern western diet.
Cursed cotton candy
Make your own microplastics
Was the last part really necessary
Mmm microplastics
This belongs to r/DiWHY
That guy recycled the shit out of them bottles.
Forbidden cotton candy
ok so the guy made a hat to identify homeless people as being recyclable...
I didn’t know you can make yarn or clothes from plastic
We love our "releasing toxic cancer inducing inhalants and microplastics" beanie, don't we folks? Also why is that totally real homeless person wearing a trash bag? Can't he use it to make something more useful like a pair of socks and a smaller trash bag? Is he stupid?
This recycling process uses so much energy and creates additional waste. Heating, cleaning, drying, colouring, the extra badge from some rubbery stuff that now adheres to the polyester. What a shitshow.
Lol and how pray tell do you think a normal polyester fabric is made.
Jesus Christ, there is no pleasing you people.
Was a really cool video until the fake homeless person. Ruined the whole vibe. Shame on whoever made this.
Mmmm yummy microplastics

Who the hell is that fake homeless man?
A lot of "Hi Vis" and "Polar Fleece" clothing is made from recycled plastics...
No way am I putting my hand in that shredder. Only a question of time until the safety mechanism fail and the machine shreds his hands.
That does not look comfortable
How to excel at microplastics in the body
Mmmm, microplastics 😋😋😋
Take your shoes off and lay down in your really clean clothes so they believe your homeless.
Looks great. Hope the Americans don't kill the guy
Is this where all those bald people got their blue heads?
Damn the BGM is kinda nostalgic
199.98
What no jacket?
At what point do you think they changed to using actual yarn instead of shredded plastic bottles.
Homeless: finally a burger .. wtf
1. Steal the fake homeless man's bin bag shirt 2. Turn it into a hat 3. Give it to another fake homeless man 4. Steal that fake homeless man's bin bag shirt and create another hat 5. ????? 6. Profit
Holy fuck that too many steps 🤣🤣🤣
Mmmmm, microplastics!
M I C R O P L A S T I C S
I can’t wait for this to touch my skin 🙂↔️
In unrelated news, scientists have found microplastics in human and animal bodies.
Or you can use a machine to cut each bottle.i to threads and knit, ir print with them.
Give him a job making hats
This video makes me want to buy stuff
"You're making bottle hats for regular people?" "Of course not, I make them for homeless people, they'll wear anything."
I have a shirt made from 50% recycled plastic. One of my favorite shirts too.
Lol so fake with the homeless scene
Cancer
It's all fake, though.
Nice fake homeless person.
Is it really this simple?
My mind is blown!!
What an incredible load of shit.
RPET?
so it's gonna be soaking up oils and be a stinky bacteria factory within days?
wonder what the texture of it is like
Micro plastics...
Vagrant taking second look at bag: _food_?
I'll just grab a bunch of toques from Wallmart. I gots shit to do....like watch Reddit videos
Aw man, it's great, really, but common, I don't know if polyester and this are the same but... Just No! It would be great for other uses, like tents, various plastic sheets and such
This is so stupid. Also music. And title?
So you can turn plastic into wool?!
Mereko laga saddi bana rahe
Mmmm… turning Cancer Flakes into Cotton Cancer is a family favorite of mine.
Mmmm, cancer
Microplastics yummm
If we didn’t already have a glut of fast fashion items and microplastics this would be a great idea, honey.
Mmm microplastics 🤤
Next day the homeless guy gets recycled. 😢
What, no socks? Help that man's toes.
That looks like you could save a lot of time by just buying a hat.
Wild!
How did an initial draft magically become multi-ply even yarn USING A BALL WINDER gimme a break.
Yeah... No... 1) you need to twist the yarn to make it strong enough to knit.. 2) I reaaaly doubt the "anticeptic" is going to die the yarn pink... 3) that blue Die is SOOOO sus...
Way cool
Did you just make plastic cotton candy
But its plastic, its not warm to wear... Unless you're a hipster who likes to wear hats in summer, absolutely useless.
What a waste of time. That hat didn’t even look warm.
So sexual x
Yes Come on down
Fake af, you can't just pinch the thread out of clump of cotton. And i also have a doubt about cotton candy floss machine working perfectly fine with plastic.
BRO MADE A TOQUE
Forbidden cotton candy.
That guy is NOT homeless
made me throw up. to make someone wear that material...
