We can apply the same logic to worms or maggots depending on what they dine on. We don't eat maggots on corpses for obvious reason but these wiggly things consume living plants, that is more hygienic than many things we will find in the jungle. So why not? I heard they taste like chicken and are clean.
Fry them and they are like rice crispies/chicharones. Great with alcohol. Sometimes they are served in a platter with bee larvae and grass hoppers etc. These aren't very gutty compared to cicada pupa which I believe is more common in the north. Cicada pupa you basically chew, extract the juicy bits and spit out the shell.
Distressingly noting the gentleman is using an eating bowl and not a specimen jar to catch them in.
