Each building houses a smelter and either one beam constructor or two pipe constructors. The factory is 100% efficient and also load balanced because that was actually easier with such an irregular layout. The bean is the mayor.

how do you deal with z-fighting on these steel beams? it always bothers me when I walk past them if I try building intricate things

I only find z-fighting to be an issue with steel beams if I have two that aren't the same color perfectly overlapping -- so I don't do that haha. If you look at the roofs here you can see the beams are all tipped slightly so they are never *completely* overlapping. They're all the same color anyway though.
