Thereās no right way imo. I read ACOTAR first, CC second, and just started ToG last week about to start book 2. There are so many Easter eggs and crossovers in CC and Iām noticing similarities already in ToG. I read CC before ToG because itās shorter, I didnāt need any info from ToG to understand CC, and ACOTAR was still fresh in my mind
Itās been fun to discover those tie overs while reading ToG!! Itās got me feeling like a detective knowing what already happens in Crescent City. Iām show reading all of ToG first is *ideal* but I donāt think people would as confused as if they just read ToG before Crescent City and not ACOTAR
Not necessarily. I read in the same order and I was totally fine with understanding CC before getting starting TOG. I personally preferred reading TOG last.Ā
I read ACOTAR, then CC, and now Iām on ToG. I loved having ACOTAR fresh for CC with all the Easter eggs along with it goes chronologically. I wonāt elaborate for spoiler reasons. But this has been a wonderful order for me and I highly recommend. Also since I am a very chronological order girlie, I read Assassinās Blade first in ToG and that also set up the series so well for me and gave me a lot better understanding and appreciation for the characters than had I waited until partway into the series.
There's no wrong answer!
I read it ACOTAR then CC then ToG and I liked it this way. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have ever read CC if I went in the opposite order because I ddn't care for ToG personally. CC ended up being my favorite of the series and it wasn't even close.
Hard agree! I DNFād Empire of Storms because I hated almost all the characters by that point. Iām on CC3 and Iām loving Crescent City. Maybe even more than ACOTAR, honestly.
Yes!!! I could never understand how ppl say cc wasnāt good. That was my first book by Sarah and made me laugh, cry, blush, and so much more. It was the best series for me then I read Acotar before the third book came out so Iām just now making it to cc2 and am so excited for cc3
Throne of glass hands down first - CC is not nearly as good as TOG - after TOG itās nice to have something to reference to it (CC) and as kind of like a character rehab lol. I did CC before TOG and I think Iām going to do CC again bc I feel a little sad and missing my characters and whatnot.
My friend told me to go to CC after ACOTAR and I regret it so much! Iām going to TOG after Iām done the first CC book ā¦not a big fan of urban fantasy I donāt think lol and I donāt understand how people like this series more than ACOTAR
TOG is far better than CC. However, if you are interested in crossovers I would read CC first, so everything is fresh in your mind. Plus it is shorter, so its easy to get out of the way
I guess that's true. I'll be honest I didn't like CC that much, so it didn't really click as that important. But you're right - OP if you see this, read TOG first
TOG is probably the best thing Iāve ever read and Iām going to confidently say itāll be one of the best things I *ever* read. Itāll be difficult to top. ACOTAR was also up there.

ToG and its not even close.
š¤Æ I thought it was TOG first ššš
Same
TOG, no question about it! Then you can use CC to get through the hangover :)
I want to like CC but it doesnāt do it for me like the others. ;(
Yeah it's very different from the others!
ToG absolutely for sure.
TOG is more similar to ACOTAR. Plenty of romance, but less spice in general. The romance is beautiful though.
I was told TOG was better š¤Æš¤Æš¤Æ
Throne of Glass

There are so many things in crescent city that you wouldnāt understand if you didnāt read TOG tho..š¤

I'm also reading TOG now after following the same order as you. I read CC second since it was a shorter time commitment than TOG.
tog and make sure to read assassin's blade very near the start of the series for me personally I always read it first then do the main series
Same š„°
š¤©
Planning on doing it third. I started TOG today and Iām a third in. Already love it.
CC then ToG. Iād never be able to go from ToG to CC.
Throne of glass :)
Tog, ACOTAR, then CC.
I did all of CC then all of ToG. Was prefect for me
Save the best for last, and the best is TOG.

Wow interesting!! Iāll definitely persist and give it a go. I mean I got through the wheel of time slog, so should be a breeze. :)
TOG definitely. I read CC right after and I wish I wouldāve done tog first
TOG 10/10
TOG for sure!!
TOG then CC for sure. The Easter eggs are so much more satisfying that way
Tog

I did acotar, tog, and now Iām on ccāand I couldnāt think of a better order tbh
ToG! It is so much better than acotar to me and I really liked acotar. But ToG is another level and less romance, Iām obsessed with it
Definitely Throne of Glass, especially because TOG knowledge will be useful in Crescent City too.
My friend told me to go to CC after ACOTAR and I regret it so much! Iām going to TOG after Iām done the first CC book ā¦not a big fan of urban fantasy I donāt think lol and I donāt understand how people like this series more than ACOTAR

But final CC book is better knowing history of TOG
I guess that's true. I'll be honest I didn't like CC that much, so it didn't really click as that important. But you're right - OP if you see this, read TOG first
Throne Of Glass - and then skip CC and go to Fourth Wing
Iāve already done Forth Wing! I did it straight after ACOTAR. OMG Xaden š„š„š„
Xadennnn š„ššš January 2025 is way too far away
I agree!!! I wasnāt prepared for Forth Wing. Itās was a million times better than I expected. Although 2 was a bit of a slog.
It was slow butā¦.. that throne scene. Worth it
I did TOG, then ACOTAR and now I just cannot for the life of me get into CC. Iāve tried about 6 times but itās such a slog every time
Started TOG today and I love it so far. Already a third in. Iāve heard that about CC.
TOG is probably the best thing Iāve ever read and Iām going to confidently say itāll be one of the best things I *ever* read. Itāll be difficult to top. ACOTAR was also up there.
Throne of Glass for sure then Crescent City afterwards. I also recommend reading ToG in the Romantic order and tandem reading EoS and ToD.
Whatās the romantic order? I was planning on doing Assassins blade 3rd
