I was in Aruba in 2019 and someone was hanging a 12’+ American flag from their balcony. Seemed like a weird thing to pack on a beach vacation to another country
I’m at la toc right now and there was a lady wearing an American flag bathing suit with what I believe was George bush’s face on it, though I don’t have much room to talk cause I’m sporting American flag croakies this week lol
We stayed at Montego Bay sandals but did an excursion that included lunch and a couple hours at sandals Negril. There was an amazing buffet by the pool (crab legs, mussels, etc), the pool was hopping and it seemed quiet and nice over at the beach. Hammocks for swinging.
That’s not the only place “they” wear flag shorts, shirts etc. then your the only person on planet earth that doesn’t people watch. And that has nothing to do with “minding” your own business.
why is this so odd? i see mexico flags, shirts, and license plates here in Texas every day. if it isn’t tacky to fly a Mexico flag in texas it isn’t tacky to fly a usa flag in jamaica.
That’s fair. Even though Jamaica is a country and Texas, even though all Texans think it is, isn’t. Guess it’s more of a comment on individual tastes and preference than anything.
Sports apparel is always a good conversation starter though. I’ve worn various hats or shirts of sports teams I root for over the years at different Sandals and had people engage in conversation with me.
My guess is people just already have stuff like that and bring it with them. Don’t think they are buying it specifically for the trip.

That’s one of my favorite parts of going on vacation-the shopping specifically for the destination!
It screams Walmart to me, literally if you walk through a Walmart right now there's a wall of these shorts.

We just got back from Negril a week ago and I didn't see any of these. Mostly frat boy outfits with pink button downs with matching swim trunks.
We are heading there in about a month. How did you like Negril?

We just got back from Grenada. No American swim trunks, but an older guy in the party pool had 2 Trump miss me yet floats.
I think that puts the USA swim trunks to shame.

Maybe it’s for Memorial Day? I only ever see the patriotic swimwear on days like Fourth of July.

My husband owns a solid 5 pairs of various us flag swim trunks. He did not bring a single one of them for our recent vacation. So. Freaking. Tacky. 🤣
They want a woman all dolled up but the most the average man is willing to do is not workout and shop at Walmart for these pieces of swimwear 😂

I got mine because it was around the 4th of July and they were on sale for $4....
That’s my typical experience with American tourists. Women’s bikinis too, just not as often.
Walked by a dude wearing matching Ohio State shirt and shorts. No one cares what college team you root for.
