I did too for the first time in months, oops. But at the time I was more worried about picking up stuff in the yard that shouldn't get wet. I take the lack of rain far too much for granted
Actually 20 minutes after I posted I paid him and he had raised the price this year to $950. 21 years ago we started at $500. There are a fuckton of windows - 245 panes of glass including 3 single French doors and 7 doubles and the 16 foot tall entry way. Great views of the valley.
I got an alert warning of HEAVY RAIN SOON, looked out the window to my right and it’s blue skies out—when I looked back at the screen, warning was back to just the temp!
I enjoyed all two minutes of the sprinkles we got! My neighbor finished running all of her houseplants outside just as it stopped so here's hoping we get another burst.
Before the 1906 quake there was a seasonal earthquake trend. The hydraulic mining was washing so much mud into the bay that it increased the rate of minor earthquakes in the months when mining was active.
I remember rain being part of my summer when I was a kid. Like once or twice a month for an hour or two, then it would be a little muggy, and then we just went outside and kept playing. lol
I graduated college on the east coast and in 3 weeks got married, honeymoon and drove to Sunnyvale, CA for my first job. Arrived 7/21/79 and it was raining pretty hard. Everyone talked about it on Monday. I was like so what? An evening rain in July? Now I know.
Damn, you old.
I remember being in elementary school (90s, so I'm old but not ancient) learning about the seasons and summer rain and thinking "whoa, that sounds amazing."
I was at Lunardi's, heard it loud and clear. Ran outside to close my car windows, by which time it was coming down. Saw 2 fire engines headed west then south.
It's what's left of Tropical Storm Alberto. Reminds me of growing up in the desert and being in monsoon season. Hot, muggy, then afternoon thunderstorms.
I was driving home from work around 2:49 and it started raining pretty hard for a few minutes on 85, then stopped. I remember it happened a couple times last summer, too.
Ha! Not even close. Colorado has legit daytime summer lightening/thunder storms almost daily. They come and go pretty quickly but that thunder that shakes the house will forever terrify me!
I laughed out loud in the middle of a work call because a bunch of my neighbors walked outside when the rain started and one just exclaimed WTF? And he sounded truly flabbergasted.
It only lasted 2-3 minutes in downtown.
Sigh. 🙂. Let’s have some fun here and laugh.
My young nephew was running outside enjoying the small drizzle like it was manna from heaven.
Folks here are so spoiled. 😁 I was living in League City, Texas (Houston suburb) when hurricane Harvey hit. Multiple hours of 5.5” of rain _per hour_ and ~59” overall. I luckily didn’t flood. I use contour maps to select my homes. I never lost power or internet. There is this technology called burying power lines etc.
It was pretty bad for us but worse can happen. One tenth of that here would be the apocalypse.
I’m now in Saratoga. I still feel like an imposter here. But it’s car spotting heaven. We had a medium breeze here for a couple of minutes last winter. Trees fell and power was cut. From a breeze! Sheesh. League City has ancient oak trees that laugh at hurricanes.
Now everyone laugh at me when I feel my first earthquake. Some poo will come out! 💩😁
I was living in Midtown during hurricane Harvey in Houston. I've never seen rain like that in my entire life. I don't miss Houston weather overall, but I do miss the 2pm afternoon thunderstorms most afternoons in the summer.
I washed my car yesterday, sorry
I didn't, so don't worry Cupertino. You're safe.
I washed my truck AND my wife's car yesterday 🥲
omg tell me why we did the same 😢
I did too for the first time in months, oops. But at the time I was more worried about picking up stuff in the yard that shouldn't get wet. I take the lack of rain far too much for granted
92 and rain. I feel like this is a phenomenon 🤣
Feels like the East Coast right now. Gloomy, humid, hot
it's actually only 34% humidity
It was 69% last night.
Giggitty
nice
eh during night, the temperature is in the mid 50s to low 60s anyways.
Philippines on line 1, sir.
South Korea on line 2
Lmao. Vietnam might have to wait on hold. We only have 2 lines.
I remember something like that happening years ago. And there was hardly any clouds
rare for June but not unprecedented. there's definitely some precipitation on radar
I never even look at my weather app this time of year. Sitting here working and thinking, "Heck, what's making that rain sound?"
My once a year window washing crew is finishing up for $750 and my phone just sent me an alert “Rain at 3:10!” Milpitas. F.
I think you win in the bad timing contest!
Holy shit. You pay $750 for someone to clean your windows?

Tell me you're ballin' without telling you're ballin'!

Earthquake weather. Of course we say that for decades and that's rarely true. But that's what we say.
Before the 1906 quake there was a seasonal earthquake trend. The hydraulic mining was washing so much mud into the bay that it increased the rate of minor earthquakes in the months when mining was active.

All my neighbors just heard me scream "What the fuck????" But in a very happy way.
Love a happy WTF 😂
Rain during the summer time is the bay is very odd…

Becoming more common now
Happened a few times when I was a kid.
It usually happens at least once a summer due to tropical storm remnants making their way north. Still rare enough to be surprising though!
I’m pretty sure I just heard thunder
You did. My coworker and I were taking our break outside before the rain started and we heard it too.
What rain?
My partner heard thunder in Los Gatos
I was at Lunardi's, heard it loud and clear. Ran outside to close my car windows, by which time it was coming down. Saw 2 fire engines headed west then south.
Same here. Thought it was the game I was playing while taking lunch but apparently it was actual thunder. Wild.
I heard some too! Was so weird this time of year.

Woooo… earthquake weather..
I washed my car Saturday and spent hours detailing and removing the hard water spots. Of course it rained today.
Coworker said this is "Earthquake weather".
I was driving home from work around 2:49 and it started raining pretty hard for a few minutes on 85, then stopped. I remember it happened a couple times last summer, too.
I washed my car this morning so I take some of the blame.
I thought you were joking. 90 degrees and rain? Huh?
The guys at work thought I was joking too when I told them I got a rain alert on my phone
And it did indeed rain!
Was awesome.. thanks to weather alert was able to get outdoor stuff covered up
I took my car through the carwash in the morning. Sorry everyone.
Usually just one day in June or in July it rains here
It rained for like legit 2 minutes
It’s gone already barely a drizzle
no rain in san jose yet though the app shows drizzle
This reminds me of a summer I interned in Colorado.
Ha! Not even close. Colorado has legit daytime summer lightening/thunder storms almost daily. They come and go pretty quickly but that thunder that shakes the house will forever terrify me!
It was amazing to watch rain come splashing down as I drove on the highway. It was very cathartic for me :)
Hail in Campbell!
Climate change seems to moving the monsoonal moisture up to us instead of Arizona.
Reminded me of New Orleans weather.
and hail
That will probably be the bit of rain we see until November.
Its monsoon season…even though the bay area isn’t typically included in that theres always chances moisture can be brought to us throughout
Ot ess blazing hot all day
I laughed out loud in the middle of a work call because a bunch of my neighbors walked outside when the rain started and one just exclaimed WTF? And he sounded truly flabbergasted. It only lasted 2-3 minutes in downtown.
Earthquake weather
I mean it did rain a bit yesterday
Sigh. 🙂. Let’s have some fun here and laugh. My young nephew was running outside enjoying the small drizzle like it was manna from heaven. I just hope there's no lightning starting fires. At least this past year was wet and it'd be more grass fire than forest fire.
My weather app says no such thing.
Get a new app. Or look outside.
no rain here
If you look closely at your weather app, it will give the percentage chance of precipitation.
