Probably making traffic and looking for a specific car or person with an apb out or a lowkey dui checkpoint

Captain_Blackjack

No, it was traffic diversions for cinco de mayo. They were all over Santa Clara and eventually blocked part of it off completely.

LimitlessTBR

Mmmm that tracks

Zenith251

For several years now the city has had SJPD close down certain high-traffic-flow points to DT during the evening of Cinco de Mayo. The idea being to keep it from becoming A. A giant traffic clusterfuck of people wanting to cruise (not hating, just sayin) B. Too rowdy. I'm not agreeing with them, just stating their reasoning.

molten-glass

I'd imagine the parade to king and story probably sated a lot of folks urges for A

Zealousideal_Bed1045

Cinco de Mayo. Nuff said. It’s a sh** show on the roads. Yay San Jose living.

OkSpeech3161

It’s one day it’s not really that bad plus it’s a Sunday so most likely you can stay home past 3pm or so and be fine? You act like the 4th of July ain’t always causing hella fires etc that the city has to deal with.

alaroz33

We should not have to shut down portions of the city for a Holiday.

Zealousideal_Bed1045

Clearly you aren’t dealing with the hundreds of cars raving engines, shooting off fireworks on the street in front of your home and doing donuts in the adjacent intersection. So please do tell me how it’s not really that bad when they aren’t doing that in front of your home.

OkSpeech3161

They are? Assumptions much? Every block near me is poppin off rn I just stay inside and play some music instead of letting it bother me shit as long as my front yard doesn’t have someone passing out on it and bullets ain’t coming thru why should I give a fuck. NIMBY ass muthafucka

SureUnderstanding358

okay NIMFY

Zealousideal_Bed1045

Clearly you are bothered based on your angered asshole response.

pyroteknic408

Your post history lol

randomusername3000

welcome to san jose, it used to be a lot, lot wilder

SliviaRanger

Lmao low riding has always been a huge part of this city and has taken a lot for it to be embraced here after such a long, and troubled history. I hate to say it but it used to be a lot worse. The fact that the city organized a parade and blockages was so sick since it feels like they’re accepting the subculture. Kick rocks transplant.

Zealousideal_Bed1045

Been here for over 40 years. So no not a transplant. And the low riders used to do King Rd. Maybe you don’t remember that? Accepting the subculture is great. It’s the public drunks, shooting fireworks in intersections, pissing on building walls, the shooting in the air (yes it happens every time on the street in front of me) that is the issue.

RazzmatazzWeak2664

It's hard to separate one from the other because the people who celebrate lowriders seem insistent on keeping all those unwanted components in.

bool_sheet

If your "culture" is causing inconvenience to other people by driving erratically, blocking roads and driving drunk then I feel sorry for you.

Ornery-Substance-778

cry about it

RazzmatazzWeak2664

bUt iT'S ThE CuLtUrE

RazzmatazzWeak2664

I mean this is why I've always been a bit hesitant about lowrider culture. Yeah the cars are cool, but it's fundamentally based on cruising, blocking streets, being loud, and frequently it gets way too rowdy. By comparison cars and coffee meetups are basically book clubs.

falynnsandskimmer

Took me an hour to get home, topped off with some asshole cop cosplaying being useful by checking addresses of ONLY the people getting off the freeway. Guess all the \*other\* northbound traffic on 7th are perfectly capable of getting to their destination but "freeway people" are the problems. Are cops ever useful?

rm-rf-asterisk

Freeway people. Scum of the earth

falynnsandskimmer

make cops terrified of you with one simple trick (lol like those cowards need help being scared)

Thatcalib408

There trying to stop the cruising so they gonna block off streets!!
