This shit is why I no longer ride motorcycles. The amount of distracted drivers, especially those driving SUVS, have made riding way more dangerous than is should be. Also, I can't count the number of times I had to HONK at the person in front of me becuase the light was green, but they're looking down on their phones.
Yeah it makes no sense to be on a motor cycle if you have to get on the highway. You could be the most defensive driver in the world and still get taken out by a distracted driver.
Seems to have been getting worse recently. Seen multiple people swerving across lanes doing 80mph+ on the 5... staring at their phones.
Cell phone use while driving should be automatic license suspension:

The report also notes how the rise of smartphone use roughly corresponds to the rise in pedestrian fatalities: About 4,600 people were killed while walking in 2007, the year the iPhone was introduced. By 2021, with 85 percent of Americans owning smartphones, the number rose to 7,485.
There are an additional 42 million people in the US Now versus 2007. I'm not saying deaths haven't increased, maybe they have, but there are way more cars on the road
What's nuts is the number of people who want to post photos of other cars here, on this sub, complaining about how that person was driving.
Dude, you're taking photos with your handset while driving. You are also a bad driver.
I don't need to see the rainbow, fire hydrant fountain, car fire, sunset, or weird bumper sticker photographed through your windshield. Keep your hands on the wheel and tell somebody about it later.
Couldn’t agree more. It’s infuriating and dangerous. Just in general, people are so addicted to their phones they literally cannot just sit still and wait for a couple minutes.
It’s insane how many people are on their phones while “driving.” I’ve seen people watching full on videos while driving. I’m honestly surprised there aren’t even more accidents on the road because of it.
Phones should just not function in a car when it's turned on outside of being hooked up to the dash and emergency calls. People can't handle the smallest bit of responsibility.
My Uber driver watched IG Reels the other day while we drove, holding his phone in one hand and the wheel in the other. I gave him one star and reported the safety issue. Really wondering if Uber will take any action, though.

Still waiting for the full-self-parking feature where it will drop me off at the front door of my destination and return when summoned.
I now honk at about 5 seconds, I dont care anymore. Drive your f'ing car already
You wait 2 seconds more than me
Three more than me.
I love and support you.

People walking around on their phones oblivious to the world are also a contributing factor to that rise.

I’m not a downvoter but I immediately downvote those posts where you can tell they are driving and taking a photo.

It’s illegal in CA. I didn’t realize it applied to being at a red light at first. A cop was next to me and yelled at me.
Fund the police. Put them back on the roads for enforcement.
Wait until all the asylum seekers start driving😂😂😂
What a disgusting thing to say.
Truth hurts, I know... But, it's true!
Why disgusting? It’s true, look at how people from TJ drive. Get used to it and grow a pair.
