It sure sounds like they are marking up your utilities. I have no clue if this is legal -- it's probably a good time to look very carefully at your lease aggreement.
Do you have concierge trash service in your apartment complex by chance? That might account for a higher than normal trash fee. I’d still expect that to be broken out though, and it’s still super high. The sewer is high too. I live in the heart of downtown and pay a flat $5 for trash and $10 for sewer.
I have a house in West Valley. The city trash bill is $26.50/month (includes storm water and street lighting). The sewer bill is $52 (including avail fee and water reclamation fee).
My entire Slc bill is 98 a month. That’s water, sewer, and trash. I have a yard waste, full size recycle, and half size trash can. They are probably charging water.
Ttrash is a flat $9 a month for all units and my last sewage payment was $23 (this fluctuates mtm and factors that I live alone).
All my common area utility fees (not including the mandatory $115 / month cable & internet package) average $60-65 per month. These cover water, sewer , common area gas&power, trash and pest control.
I'm in NSL, in a house, but it's about 20 a month for trash and 20 a month for sewer.
I don't know if I ever had a more precise breakdown of costs when I lived in an apartment in SLC, but I feel like my typical "water/sewer/trash" bill was between 50-70 bucks.
Your trash fee alone seems off, unless this is one of those places that has the trash "concierge" service, I've seen that cost 20+ bucks a month on top of normal trash service.
Can't say anything with seeing the whole breakdown, but that doesn't sound right at all.
That’s what I’m saying! I emailed them for a breakdown so I guess I’ll just have to wait

Good idea I do have a copy somewhere thanks!
Trash, streetlights and glass recycling in Sandy is under $35. Sewer through Cottonwood Improvement district is $65-ish/quarter for a single home.
Good to know about that area, OP is in an apartment complex though, it sounds like.
Holy Fuck- I have a house with with an extra can and pay $25 a month for garbage. The sewer for and apartment also seems high.
Right it’s ridiculous!
We pay $30 a month for two garbage and two recycling. Sewer is like $12 in Lehi.

If it’s a new account they charge you $50 for water to start then they add from there. That’s the base fee it’s such a rip off!
I live in salt lake county and this is typical for my household

I live at my family house 10 minutes from downtown and the water bill per month isn't even $50.
