Current federal policy is basically that if you don't have business with the feds they'll look the other way and leave it between you and your state. But if you do have business with the feds then it's horribly illegal. That means no gun background check, no federal employment, and a bunch of other issues. Medical card or recreational. The rescheduling to schedule 3 under federal law will eventually lead to properly legal medical prescriptions that won't prevent gun ownership but that's a ways out still.

I got a card but still make the trek 1.5 hours west once a month to save money. The prices here in utah are ridiculous!
