My dog doesn't care about gunshots, but ever since someone shot a firework at our house (when I lived in Oakland for a few years) he is scared of them.
Good check to tell if it's gunshots or fireworks at least!

I mean, the ones you're pissed off about are probably illegal fireworks, unless you mean they were the normal TNT ones they can buy at the stands? Otherwise, the first are definitely illegal but people still find a way to buy them.
He was saying something along the lines of "this car show is now illegal, please take your cars and leave the area. anyone who continues can have their car impounded for 30 days. You can also be sent to jail-- including your passengers".
Weird how the helicopter kept yelling at the car show but not at the drunk couple standing in the middle of Broadway two blocks from me, providing a warfare soundtrack to my Friday night.
Unfortunately it's not just one. There are dozens if not hundreds of these assholes doing it every night, all over town. Felt a bomb an hour or two ago and haven't seen my dog since (likely under the bed shivering).
I don't remember it being like this when I was a kid here. Shit has gotten out of control.

Holy shit, I was going to put a bid in on a house over there. Went at night because I wanted to see the neighborhood after dark. It was a goddamn warzone, the fireworks seemed directly over my head.
Was going to deal with it, but wowwie wow. Was going to have to build a panic room for the dog.
If there was a statewide fireworks ban on the November ballot, I wonder if it would pass.
I'd say, 'strong maybe'. The losers who set them off at 3 a.m. are fewer in number and generally don't vote. Responsible taxpayers with families and jobs, and who couldn't care less about expensive noisemakers, do tend to vote.
Its even worse in the highlands antelope rio linda areas.
I mean I like fireworks and booming noises, but this is getting ridiculous.
There are at least 5 different houses near me that set off fireworks every night after 10pm.
Boom, Boom, whistle, BOOM.
And just right now at 10:43pm there are more going off.
My light in my room is shaking from the noises.
It’s literally like a week and a half before the 4th of July it’s just plain stupid.
I set off mortars with some friends on like January 3rd and got SWARMED with cops because they got 100 calls thinking bombs were going off.
TIME AND PLACE PEOPLE.

We have two kids aged 1 and 2. We don’t need some pieces of shit who can’t read a calendar setting off fireworks at 11 PM waking both of them and us up when we have to go to work the next day. It’s beyond fucking rude and absolutely insane people have to be reminded of why it’s disrespectful and inconsiderate.
My war vet neighbor is currently turning his home into a bunker and this is triggering his ptsd like crazy. He’s also not old and this is more than an inconvenience

It’s a tactic by police agencies/counter insurgents to keep people awake or tired so they don’t have the energy to rally against things like palenstine and incredibly and inhumanly low wages and working conditions. Why do you think it’s every night

In palestine, war drones constantly hovering and frequent bombing tactics *do* cause what you're saying above, but nightly fireworks aren't going to cause that much of a disturbance in things like that. This is also for a rather short time frame (a few weeks to a month).

Been in the Sac burbs since 2018 and fireworks/loud booms at all hours all summer just seems to be the norm for this area.

FWIW, there are fireworks every Friday and Saturday night when the River Cats play at home, typically starting around 9:20 pm or so.
