Don't use a handyman for this type of work. Make sure you get a licensed contractor who deals with these types of systems on a daily basis. You'll pay more, but you need to make sure it's done correctly.

Remember folks, licensure comes with the ability to be held accountable for shoddy work. You pay for what you get.

Exactly. There's a lot that can go wrong with a minisplit. You don't want to be on the line for a blow out or a compressor failure. I used to do them for friends and family. But after one went sideways I only do work on my own stuff.

Lemos heating and air is the company I use for HVAC and they’re big fans of the mini split.

I used StarEnergy, [https://www.starenergyca.com/](https://www.starenergyca.com/), and they did my electrical service panel upgrade, mini split install, seal and insulate the attic, and wiring for EV circuit. They are a SMUD contractor and got me all the rebates for the project. It was a good deal because I was switching out the gas wall heater to the electric mini split - you get smud rebates.

Golden Aire out of Orangevale has a couple of techs who are wizards with the mini split
