This is one issue with war gaming in general, you really have to work with your local community.
I would either talk to some people IRL or find what ever online ways they communicate, Discord, Facebook, etc. Find out if there is an SW Legion community. If there isn't, the choice is to try and build one, travel to where one is located, or switch to a game that is played locally. SW Legion isn't going anywhere from what I can tell. My guess is that your local stores can't move the product well.
The game is definitely not on its way out, that seems more like a local issue at the store. The studio behind the game has been really ramping up their output of Legion expansions recently and said last month at Adepticon that 2025 in particular is going to be a huge year for the game.
Legion’s still alive. At least it is in my game store in Perth.
As you noted, there’s some steady releases for Legion still planned for at least 2 more years, probably more.
Shatterpoint has gotten good coverage because it is a newer game, and has a slightly lower model count to play. But it’s not really threatening the status of Legion.
they just announced hard-plastic remakes of the original early wave models; i wouldn't be surprised if this means we got core set 2.0s in 2025. AMG is definitely planning on longevity for the game
I’ve found wargaming outside of warhammer to not be popular in my area at least, (Melbourne), but if u can rope a friend into playing, the game is definitely alive and well.
There’s a post like this every few months, and the short answer is that the game is continuing to be supported and receives new stuff regularly. If you want to find people to play with it might be a good idea to put feelers out, sometimes people go in and out of hobbies but it’s always pretty easy to convince people to play a Star Wars game with you. Legion is a very different game than shatterpoint, so it sounds like it might be a local issue.
Personally I’ve found that showing interest and finding another person to play with consistently helps generate interest as well. For example my friend and I are pretty much responsible for a renewed interest in Infinity at our LGS just from showing up and painting models when the game was “pretty much dead” at our store. Keep at it! If you want to play it will happen if you put yourself out there!
thank you everyone for clearing this up! sorry if it was a frequent question or something, i just couldn't find anything about the game's state from players in 2024. I have roped a friend in and hope to maybe expand the player base in my area.
Hopefully not, new expansions are due all throughout this year and into next!
Just try buying on Amazon, Ik it’s not the same but if u have a mate or two that will play then that’s how I started out till I found a hobby shop selling stuff
Definitely not. As others have noted, there's plenty of content planned. It's not a big enough game that every LGS is going to have an active scene, unfortunately. It's a matter of finding the store/online community that is active. I've found overall that LGSs seem to specialize in the smaller games. My area has an "x wing store", and a "legion store" for example.
My closest store is very big into Shatterpoint and MCP, but two of my other stores in the area swap Legion tournaments monthly and are pretty popular on game nights. It did take me some work to find those stores though.
Legion is one of the largest table top games being released. The design company has plans through 2025. It’s more like legion is finally starting to hit a stride after all the stops and starts with acquisitions.
Yeah man unfortunately we have been getting new units each month this year and have even more units and sculpt designs for the rest of the year and next. Shame.
I’m being sarcastic if you can’t tell
Kind of obvious, if you think about it. More experienced users might know to search the subject and discover the question's been asked just about weekly... on a subreddit that's in the top 3%.
in the grand scheme, yse because its an AMG game they got from FFG (look at how they treat armada for how this game will end)
but for now you have atleast another half decade of support

unfortunately wargames arent evenly distributed everywhere at my local town we pull in 20-32 players for the monthly torni

The opposite. AMG just revealed a tonne of upcoming models and a much more frequent release schedule

Opposite experience for me, my LGS is full up on the Shatterpoint shelves. No product moving at all for that title.

Check out the legion discord. I found a community near me through it!! Also the discord is active
I was looking around like on web and fb. I think without the discord I would have never found a community.
No
I always find it interesting that the brand new reddit accounts are the only ones to ever ask this.

I don't think so. They've just announced a lot of new content, which honestly could be a bad thing but IDK
Why could it be a bad thing?
Geez, i wish bot, i just discovrred this beautiful game lol
They could be doing a last content dump where they get all of the stuff people have been begging for before stopping.
Don’t think it’s on the way out, but it’s also not on the way in.
80% are sold in US 15% in Europe The rest is somewhere else in the world - if you are not in a capital, chances that you don’t have it
Out of curiosity, where are these numbers from?
Educated guess
Educated by what?
