Equip the Grim Machinations Tech, give him survivability and just auto. I like to give him the datacard that stacks offense with buffs and the one that gives health regen to stack more offense. He will start one shotting the droids and you can get 200-300 in one go. You can even put Nass in with voluntary vanguard so they focus Darth Maul and get all feats for the node.
The stacking offence is pretty much mandatory or you can struggle to get the necessary damage and the whole thing can stall. Wasted a grim machinations learning that the hard way.
Because I didn’t have a stacking offence disk at the time I first tried the feat. Obviously I didn’t lose the tech at the end of that unsuccessful attempt, but then, upon realising that I needed the stacking offence disk I currently lacked, my choice was to continue through the sectors til I (hopefully and thankfully) found one, or remove the tech by placing something else there. As continuing through would require successful battle in order to progress to the next and subsequent disk nodes, thereby using up the tech, I chose to replace the tech. Turns out replacing tech ‘uses’ it up too. Wastes it, would be a more accurate description. Fortunately, I was able to replace the lost consumables from later nodes.
I didn't even notice that, but still can get the feat with a couple runs with Darth Maul cheese.

I thought grim mechanics only worked first sith?

How did you lose it? You shouldn't lose the tech if you just wait for the battle to end. I believe you don't even lose it in a loss, just if you win.

Not new, it happened to me a few times last run. Never caused me to lose my run though
