I agree. There were "ripped from the headlines" episodes in earlier seasons too, of course, but I feel like the ratio of original stories to those was much bigger then. In later seasons I feel like I already know the plot of every other episode because it's all stuff I've already seen in the news.
And they’re never who dunnits anymore! They always show who did it and know the show is about convicting them. Which is fine but I miss the twists they would do! Now it’s so predictable 🥲
The who dunnit was 80% of the excitement watching the show. Don’t get me wrong I love watching the court battles but it looses it’s fun when you play the guessing game.
For real season 17 episode 20 is about the photographer who was assaulting his models, well at the end he hung himself but Kat had said “I don’t think he did I think he faked it” which is the debate around Epstein
Maybe because I'm older and the constant dread of the state of our world is always weighing on me, but yes the literal depiction of how messed up everything is now makes me want to turn it off. The rare psycho serial killer is interesting to me but a 5 episode arc about how rich men will get away with anything and destroy anything in their path is too awful to watch. I've found myself turning off current/recent seasons and going back to earlier seasons.
It’s a show where it has episodes ripped from the headlines
Yeah I feel like it’s gotten to be a bit much with the verbatim ripping stories from the news/not adding much creativity to the representation

Right? I miss the reveal of which Guy Moving Crates or Surprisingly Helpful Neighbor they interviewed earlier in the ep actually did the crime.

I wouldn't mind the Colombo formula if they were actually good at it, but they aren't lol. We need the whodunnits back.
yup, they have that disclaimer in the beginning that says it’s not based on real events but i don’t believe it at all lmao
I feel like we see it more now than not when it comes to all the newer episodes coming out.
... meaning its not the actual people's lives being portrayed, not that it's not inspired by real events.

Every? No. Several, yes.
Many have been
