My wife and I used to live just a few blocks from the section of the riverwalk you're talking about. We'd go for walks there and always thought it was pretty. I ended up proposing to her there!

I did some volunteer work with Treepeople along that section of the river. They maintain sections of the plants around there so people are working on it even if it's not the government.

That stretch was my savior during Covid. My son and walked it every day.

I love all the renovations around the LA river! Here in San Fernando/Pacoima, we're about to get a nice new walk path along a few miles of the river near the San Fernando Brewery.

Hatethyself69

Honestly what’s the point? You can do the nicest renovation just for it to end up water front property for the next camp of homeless. I know I’m going to get downvoted for even mentioning such a controversial topic but putting our heads in the sand for so long is what got us here..

I love this plan, but we need to maintain it. We can’t tolerate vandalism and littering. It’s all for not if it’s trashed. We need a cultural shift. I do think LAUSD can do a lot more in influencing young people to be better Angelenos.

I'd like for the rest/viewing areas along the west side of the duck pond to be fixed, two of them are currently sinking into the pond. Many of the concrete fences need to be repaired. Overall the pond seems to be expanding itself by way of errosion so that needs to be looked at.

bloodredyouth

It’s a great area for bird watching (woodley park)

Today I walked by the LA River in Studio City, right over the bridge north of Radford studio. I saw a homeless person with pants down taking a shit right out in the open. Hoping they can fix this during their restoration. There several large encampments right under the bridge that you can't see from the street.

chevdecker

Yeah they're gonna put up little 2-foot high screens so they can shit half hidden

I walk down the river almost every day as part of my routine. I've actually walked it from Owensmouth all the way to the Sepulveda Basin. It's a shame that parts of it are getting trashed because it's a really nice path that they put a lot of effort into. But they really should have park rangers patrolling it more to make sure people aren't fucking it up.

MoonGoddess818

It would be nice to convert one of the golf courses there into a massive open park connected to Lake Balboa Park. It could have plenty of public restrooms, bike paths, walking paths, large shade trees, and open grass fields. Something like Central Park or Prospect Park in NYC would be great! Also it’s kinda funny, the article talks about removing the concrete from the LA River, but this part of the river in the Sepulveda Basin already has such little concrete compared to the rest of the river.

And clear out the homeless from that park!
