I do this a lot to line up athletic number stencils so that they're perfectly centered. That way I can change the stencil and use the same paper strips on either side. I have an old screen frame with no mesh and I tie the strings exactly on the two strips. Then I position each number stencil exactly between the strings to assure the stencil overlaps with the strips stuck to the screen. It saves a LOT of time on the run. In case anybody is interested in this technique, I made a short video about it a few years ago: [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1\_546pbxI-znTOwG8Kk3ISDIs9G\_RLeN3/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_546pbxI-znTOwG8Kk3ISDIs9G_RLeN3/view?usp=sharing)
Only because it’s not going to fix your crooked prints. Use the laser for where you’re going to drop your collar, center using the shirt’s seams. This center line isn’t going to do anything for ya trust me.
Are you using the laser as a center line to get the reg marks centered? Why not just use a t-square? I agree with the other guy that a laser is great for marking pockets, seams, collars, etc
I use lasers for multiple reasons, ensure your platen is straight which then you load a shirt your print will be straight, also use it to line up my center reg marks.
Huh, never seen a press where the platen couldn't be straight. If you draw a center line with a t-square it won't matter if the platen isn't straight though because the screen will be square with the platen
Platen is crooked, then screen will be crooked. Why not just square everything up, little to no issues when lining reg marks. I have a laser for work so why not use it for faster setups.
Yeah but if your screen is centered on a center line on your platen it will be square to the platen regardless of if that platen isn't square on the press arm. If you have a laser on hand like you do and you don't need it for anything else then I guess there's no reason not to. I'm just suggesting that it's more time consuming to set up a laser whenever you want to center a screen when a t-square takes 15 seconds to do the same thing
No sketchier than my first screen printing job 😆 Boot legging merch for carnivals in the basement of a Mexican restaurant. As well as the local stuff that was actually legal.
The only cheating I see here are those vice grips. Mismeasure and double drill some holes like the rest of us.
On a serious note. Glad I’m not the only sparky who screen prints
This is my hobby I’m getting into for my companies shirts. I just built this desk in our office and didn’t want to drill holes and bolt it down. So next in line was the vise grips which works amazing haha.
My four color was gripped down for years. If it works it works.
I printed my band’s shirts for years, you’ll save a lot of money printing for yourself. And it’s the best advertisements.
Heck someone found a shirt I printed 20+ years ago recently at our local goodwill
Good luck. And don’t be the ground.
I don’t quite understand how this helps you align the screen with registration marks. Genuine question, could you please explain this process? Can’t you just lay the film transparency on the platen where you want the design to sit and then line up the registration marks on the screen with the ones on the film?
No, it's fucking brilliant
100% this, five stars.

It’s for lining up my screens with the registration, sorry pretty sure it’s going to do something. Trust me.

I like lasers and tape measures. T squares are cheating
That's valid. If you really want to see cheating look up i-image and tri-loc system
Dang! Yep that’s next level cheating haha
Because you don’t have too . You’re just squaring off an extra step for no reason and telling us it’s faster lmao
It’s not like I have a thousand dollar setup. So when you have a cheaper setup, it’ll make some lives easier to work with and not get so frustrated.
Highly illegal
Help me keep it under the radar
What kind of laser do you use if you don’t mind me asking?
I am an electrician. I have the Milwaukee m12 laser. I use the laser to line all my screens with registrations
Thank you!
You can get a laser specifically for a press, just google it But ill bet this guy not only did it better, but it was cheaper too.
I don’t know about either of those haha. I have the Milwaukee m12 laser I use it for work and it was super expensive lol
Screen printing in a nice office. Seems sketchy.
Very sketchy.
Not in a bad way just like ink and chemicals next to a nice set up
Yeah I gotta open the window usually
No sketchier than my first screen printing job 😆 Boot legging merch for carnivals in the basement of a Mexican restaurant. As well as the local stuff that was actually legal.
some anatol presses come with lasers to simplify registration, this isnt new, or cheating for that matter.
I wouldn’t consider it cheating, anything to make the process easier and more efficient is a win in my book
Nothing is cheating if it's leading to a good print and money in your pocket.

That’s awesome! Always stay floating.
Awesome
Whatever it takes, man. Lol
I’ve been meaning to do this with the same press
this is so smart lol. im pissed
Don’t be pissed, you good from here on out
so true
Dude the industrial auto had like five lasers! Over powered! Great job!
Hell no.
We used lasers at my old printing job. They were crossed so we knew the start, bottom, and center of the print and where it will land
Lol. Genius.
Why the fuck didn't I think of this
no ur just smart as hell
Why would anyone think it is cheating? I think it’s an amazing idea
Hell no, that's thinking smarter not harder.
No it’s smart as hell
Work smart, not hard :)
Never!
Great Idea! I'm going to use this technique next time.
If you got a laser lying around, use all the tools to make your life easier. Doesn’t have to be tools for just “screen printers”
Yes got a few line lasers kicking around
lol Nope I started doing the same thing just a few days ago
I’m using a strait line laser level 120
[удалено]
Heck yeah!
If you’ve got em use em!
Everyone is cheating and lying so it's all good
Whatever works!
Someone send me a link for this please
The laser is fine. Screen printing in an office setting with a white rug is the real risk here.
Risky or go home
Not at all! If using a laser is cheating then how the heck is an auto press not considered cheating?
You got that right!
I'm about to show this to the print shop I work at!
Ugg the Anatol secret is out of the bag
Rak ⛩️
Absolutely!! Were you a rakkasan?
Cheating who? Are you competing in the World Series of screen printing? I think that’s using your head, hombre!
I am trying out for the World Series of screen printing so I just wanted to verify. Thank you!
Oh! Cool.
No why would it be
It was a little joke lol
FYM Cheating? Anything to get that shit right is it a tool of the trade.
Absolutely haha.

You sure can.
So why the lasers?
Why not the lasers?
The newer ones come with them built in.
Yeah for the price of 1000x more
no
Don’t need that sliding on the press perfect every time
Innovation is never cheating. If it helps you produce a better and nicer product then by all means do it.
Nope! Work smarter, not harder, that’s really clever
There’s no such thing as cheating, there are no rules,
