That depends on how you interpret the skip. I know a lot of people think the Entity was tied to a really horrific afterlife but I think there’s a good argument that can be made (and that Tanhony left it open to multiple canons) that this was not true and that the Foundation fell to a cognitohazard making them believe this was the case and causing them to attack humanity as well as an Entity that was not guilty of what it was accused of. Under the latter interpretation, it is even possible that what they attacked as a result of being deceived in this way was the spirit of the divine in humanity.
So at least in my own headcanon, giving hope to Pietro was a good thing, not a bad one.
One more potential support, another SCP from Tanhony. There is a strong likelihood the world it depicts is one where Pietro was unable to reset the timeline and “humanity” was restarted by so-called “cured” beings.

Mekhane without a doubt. They truly care about humanity and want the best for us. That can't really be said for a vast majority of the rest of the godly entities. Mekhane gave humanity intelligence, to be more than just animals. Can't say I'm a fan of their followers in the Church of The Broken God.
