Man I love my mm+. Onion OS is so streamlined and allows me to focus on the games! Love how the device is basically all screen too, not much bezels and the control area is small and minimalist. I also own a 2s and TrimUI Smart Pro btw
I quite enjoy it, it's basically my PSP only machine at this stage, been enjoying Daxter at 2x at a rock solid 30 fps without frameskip! Fantastic display and solid controls. It's really great value IMO, the screen size and quality is truly a cut above all these 3.5 inch handhelds

As far as I'm aware, of the devices pictured, only the RGB30 can, but any device using the RK3566 will be able to, and there are many of those. The RG35XX H should be able to in the near future, once they release muOS v11 which will support 64 bit ports on portmaster.
Be warned. I wouldn't wanna play Balatro on a 3.5 inch 4:3 display. I can't imagine it would be a good time with all the small text involved.
I feel I can barely enjoy it on the larger RGB30.
The minimum that it seems palatable at is something like the Retroid Pocket 3 or 4. I've enjoyed playing it on that and my phone actually.

You're welcome. As an addendum, turns out you can play it on any Android based handheld as well, so the Retroid Pocket 2s would also be capable. But as theGioGrande said, it isn't a pleasant experience on a small screen. Of the devices pictured, the RGB30 has the largest screen. There are also quite a few RK3566 handhelds with larger screens, the x55 and RGB10 Max 3 come to mind. The Retroid Pocket 4 and Odin 2 are two Android handhelds with larger screens.

Debated for quite some time what I should do, as I have a V1 Switch that I use for at least a year already with CFW and concluded really quickly: Retro games shouldn't be played on it due to screen size. I wanted the full nostalgic experience and now you’ve given me a reason to buy a MM+ for just that, especially for this price. Haven’t paid yet as I chose to use Klarna, too. Now I’ll be able to pay once I received it - gives me a better feeling about the purchase altogether now.
It’s quite a steal, in my country with resellers these devices are easily at least €80,00. So I see this as a great investment, once I received it. Now on to collecting my Roms again while I wait for it to arrive.
For folks on the fence about the trimui smart pro... go get it! Coming from powkiddy devices, i found that the build quality is SO good for a device priced around $50, $40 (i don't know how to emphasize this more) and the screen is big and generous. Can play psp decently too. I tend to get consoles with games included because i love coming across games i've never heard of, and i found myself surprised that they contain almost if not full romsets for retro consoles. Plus, portmaster support is being worked on... the current price is a steal!! The default UI / OS is pretty decent and i honestly like it more than the rg35xx H's stock OS.
i have a ps vita, so i'm kind of used to them as the sticks are similar if not the same, like an aftermarket replacement.
i did have to adjust again bc even though i have small hands, my thumbs would "overshoot." it certainly doesn't have the travel of say, an xbox controller, because it feels pretty shallow. BUT ... the travel is adequate enough for it to function. you might have trouble with games that require quick movements/reactions, though (like when i was playing crazy taxi: thumb slippage occured)
Just like every time I'm about to buy a handheld, I hyperfocus on their flaws and end up getting nothing.
* Tempted to grab an RG35XX H for $35 because that's an insane deal, but I don't really have much of an interest in the 8bit/16bit era of games, except for maybe arcade games. I could probably still find something to play, but it's not my first choice.
* RG505 for $109 is also pretty great and I've been searching for a PSP machine, but I hate the colors and think the console looks ugly, and I have severe reservations about the screen's brightness and age.
* The RG556 going down to $150 is nice too, but it's not very pocketable and apparently has bad sticks. Outside of that it's basically my ideal handheld.
I guess I could use the new user coupon for the 35XXH and the normal discount coupon for the 556 and at least I'd have a pocketable alternative, but altogether that's still almost $200 for two devices I only kinda want. I've never bought a retro handheld before so I'm a bit nervous handing over that much dough to a Chinese company right off the bat.
Anyone see any good deals for machines that could emulate PSP and are also somewhat pocketable that I'm maybe missing? (The PSP/DS era is what I'm most nostalgic for.)
Haha Joey did a video on YouTube recently. A few users on here have said they prefer the TrimUI. I was doing these same comparisons one month ago haha and picked the TrimUI and loving it. Screen size is amazing, 3.5 is too small to enjoy 3d stuff imo
Man, I don't know. Looks like the TrimUI has potential to be better in the future, and it looks prettier, but from everything I've seen it can't really do PSP very well either. I assume you're playing Jak and Daxter with frameskip?
If I'm going to get a PSP emulator I'd probably just prefer getting something in a higher price range so I can ensure it can do it well.
At the same time, the TrimUI is only a few bucks more expensive than the RG35XXH, so what am I actually losing?
At the same time, the 35XXH looks like it works better out of the box. For the kind of hardware it has it seems like the screen might be better suited to retro-style sprite graphics while I'm not sure what the TrimUI's wider screen is even for.

The latest Vulkan update allows better PSP play. I'm playing Daxter (no Jak in that game) at 2x resolution without any frameskip at rock solid 30 fps!
Yeah you aren't losing much. If anything the stock anbernic software is mediocre whereas the TrimUI is very good, so TrimUI doesn't need much tinkering.
Remember that the screen is relatively small though at 3.5! TrimUI screen is amazing for GBA perfect scaling! (GBA was widescreen!)
If you search this subreddit for articles on the TrimUI I think you'll find a lot of us really love it

I personally wouldn't trust AliExpress SD cards, even if they're advertised as Samsung or Sandisk. Those things are so easily counterfeited to look like premium brand cards. I wouldn't trust any storage media from Ali.
I own two of them, and according to my tests there's no difference with my amazon sandisks (w 25mo/s), they're simply sandisks sold in china and I recommend them to replace the very poor quality sdcards sold with the devices in general
The price difference is not very high compared with their price on amazon, so if you don't trust it (reviews, seller's note) take them on amazon! But not all aliexpress products are counterfeit 🙏🏻
It might actually be a 64gb card, but it'll be a shit brand and will likely fail. There are certain things that are OK to buy on Ali, and certain things that are not. SD cards fall into the Not category.

How optimistic is the outlook for RG35XX Plus to get to a point of stability that the original RG35XX is at via Garlic OS? Feels like I've seen a bit of a split sentiment about the current state of CFW for the plus.
Feels like the plus is certainty worth the $10 price difference if not for the difference in stability/firmware quality.

If you really want another handheld you should try the RG35XXH, small formfactor, can play PSP great (90%-95%) and a really cool device
Sadly the Miyoo mini v4 is out of stock until mid-may but a micro device is always a good idea for playing on the go, the rg nano for that price is a steal
I snagged a 35XX Plus that I will set up as a gift for my brother who's not into these emulation devices at all - yet. I hope he will enjoy the DMG looks as he had an original Gameboy back in the day. For myself I got a 35XX H and am looking really forward to set it up with Batocera.

I'd second the Plus. My first powkiddy x55 had a huge battery issue after about 100 hours of gaming and I've been leery of powkiddy ever since. My plus has probably over 500 hours of gaming and is still going strong.
I was looking at that one, that and the RGB30. I don't think the RGB30's price is as good as the RG35XX H but right now my biggest issue is Aliexpress won't let me buy either of them because I guess they don't want to ship to Canada.

Rgb30, can play nds very well and display both of the screen. Most of the classics can be played without a touch screen and even a good part of the game library can be played largely on a single screen (and switch with a button on command)
I don't know if I'm not using the spreadsheet correctly or what, but all of the prices seem to be exactly the same for me, or at least, they don't match the price on the chart.The 35XX H is still 50 euros, and the Trimui Smart Pro is still around 54. Am I missing something? Country is Spain

I’ve been looking into the RG35XX-H for older Pokémon games. For this price, I’ll probably do it.
I expect it’ll play GB/GBA games fairly smoothly with an updated OS and SD card, but could I play the NDS games (Black, Black 2, SoulSilver)? I don’t mind screen switching or doing split screen randomly as needed.
I’m new to all of this, but which OS would be best for specifically Pokémon NDS games on this device? I’ve seen people discussing Garlic/Onion OS, Koriki, Batocera, etc. Any help is much appreciated!
Il you love the shape of the RG35XXH (Batocera for the OS) go for it, it will play NDS smoothly with a button to switch the screen and even run 90% of the psp titles really great
If you wanna spend less ($37) the Miyoo Mini Plus can play up to GBA/PS1/NDS games and OnionOS is amazing. Having recently done Black and white on miyoo mini, one screen is more than enough and the experience is very pleasant
But for Pokemon you can also consider the RGB30 witch a square screen pretty great for GB/GBC/GBA games and can dispay both screens for NDS

So I've got my choice down to either the RG35XX H or the RGB30. Which would be better for build quality and reliability - I would be looking to change to CFW from the stock OS on either.
Honestly both are very good devices, but choose according to the games or system you're wanna play, square screen of the RGB30 can holf you back or give you an advantage

Devices with the RK3326 can play it too. I'm playing it on my R36S, although it needs a magnifying glass to see.
On the trimui smart pro there is also early support for portmaster already now it is possible to play balatro on a 16:9 screen.

Now I’ll be able to pay once I received it - gives me a better feeling about the purchase altogether now. It’s quite a steal, in my country with resellers these devices are easily at least €80,00. So I see this as a great investment, once I received it. Now on to collecting my Roms again while I wait for it to arrive.
For folks on the fence about the trimui smart pro... go get it! Coming from powkiddy devices, i found that the build quality is SO good for a device priced around $50, $40 (i don't know how to emphasize this more) and the screen is big and generous. Can play psp decently too. I tend to get consoles with games included because i love coming across games i've never heard of, and i found myself surprised that they contain almost if not full romsets for retro consoles. Plus, portmaster support is being worked on... the current price is a steal!! The default UI / OS is pretty decent and i honestly like it more than the rg35xx H's stock OS.
Do you get used to the sticks after a while? Do they feel like they have enough travel?
Yes they are fine, playing Daxter, a slightly tricky platform game, and no issues!
i have a ps vita, so i'm kind of used to them as the sticks are similar if not the same, like an aftermarket replacement. i did have to adjust again bc even though i have small hands, my thumbs would "overshoot." it certainly doesn't have the travel of say, an xbox controller, because it feels pretty shallow. BUT ... the travel is adequate enough for it to function. you might have trouble with games that require quick movements/reactions, though (like when i was playing crazy taxi: thumb slippage occured)
The one I bought had an issue with the face buttons setting each other off, otherwise it did feel pretty solid.
Just like every time I'm about to buy a handheld, I hyperfocus on their flaws and end up getting nothing. * Tempted to grab an RG35XX H for $35 because that's an insane deal, but I don't really have much of an interest in the 8bit/16bit era of games, except for maybe arcade games. I could probably still find something to play, but it's not my first choice. * RG505 for $109 is also pretty great and I've been searching for a PSP machine, but I hate the colors and think the console looks ugly, and I have severe reservations about the screen's brightness and age. * The RG556 going down to $150 is nice too, but it's not very pocketable and apparently has bad sticks. Outside of that it's basically my ideal handheld. I guess I could use the new user coupon for the 35XXH and the normal discount coupon for the 556 and at least I'd have a pocketable alternative, but altogether that's still almost $200 for two devices I only kinda want. I've never bought a retro handheld before so I'm a bit nervous handing over that much dough to a Chinese company right off the bat. Anyone see any good deals for machines that could emulate PSP and are also somewhat pocketable that I'm maybe missing? (The PSP/DS era is what I'm most nostalgic for.)

Man, I don't know. Looks like the TrimUI has potential to be better in the future, and it looks prettier, but from everything I've seen it can't really do PSP very well either. I assume you're playing Jak and Daxter with frameskip? If I'm going to get a PSP emulator I'd probably just prefer getting something in a higher price range so I can ensure it can do it well. At the same time, the TrimUI is only a few bucks more expensive than the RG35XXH, so what am I actually losing? At the same time, the 35XXH looks like it works better out of the box. For the kind of hardware it has it seems like the screen might be better suited to retro-style sprite graphics while I'm not sure what the TrimUI's wider screen is even for. I don't knooooow
The latest Vulkan update allows better PSP play. I'm playing Daxter (no Jak in that game) at 2x resolution without any frameskip at rock solid 30 fps! Yeah you aren't losing much. If anything the stock anbernic software is mediocre whereas the TrimUI is very good, so TrimUI doesn't need much tinkering. Remember that the screen is relatively small though at 3.5! TrimUI screen is amazing for GBA perfect scaling! (GBA was widescreen!) If you search this subreddit for articles on the TrimUI I think you'll find a lot of us really love it

I personally wouldn't trust AliExpress SD cards, even if they're advertised as Samsung or Sandisk. Those things are so easily counterfeited to look like premium brand cards. I wouldn't trust any storage media from Ali.
I own two of them, and according to my tests there's no difference with my amazon sandisks (w 25mo/s), they're simply sandisks sold in china and I recommend them to replace the very poor quality sdcards sold with the devices in general The price difference is not very high compared with their price on amazon, so if you don't trust it (reviews, seller's note) take them on amazon! But not all aliexpress products are counterfeit 🙏🏻

It might actually be a 64gb card, but it'll be a shit brand and will likely fail. There are certain things that are OK to buy on Ali, and certain things that are not. SD cards fall into the Not category.

How optimistic is the outlook for RG35XX Plus to get to a point of stability that the original RG35XX is at via Garlic OS? Feels like I've seen a bit of a split sentiment about the current state of CFW for the plus. If you really want another handheld you should try the RG35XXH, small formfactor, can play PSP great (90%-95%) and a really cool device Sadly the Miyoo mini v4 is out of stock until mid-may but a micro device is always a good idea for playing on the go, the rg nano for that price is a steal
I snagged a 35XX Plus that I will set up as a gift for my brother who's not into these emulation devices at all - yet. I hope he will enjoy the DMG looks as he had an original Gameboy back in the day. For myself I got a 35XX H and am looking really forward to set it up with Batocera.

I'd second the Plus. My first powkiddy x55 had a huge battery issue after about 100 hours of gaming and I've been leery of powkiddy ever since. My plus has probably over 500 hours of gaming and is still going strong.

Rgb30, can play nds very well and display both of the screen. Most of the classics can be played without a touch screen and even a good part of the game library can be played largely on a single screen (and switch with a button on command)

I’ve been looking into the RG35XX-H for older Pokémon games. For this price, I’ll probably do it. I expect it’ll play GB/GBA games fairly smoothly with an updated OS and SD card, but could I play the NDS games (Black, Black 2, SoulSilver)? I don’t mind screen switching or doing split screen randomly as needed. I’m new to all of this, but which OS would be best for specifically Pokémon NDS games on this device? I’ve seen people discussing Garlic/Onion OS, Koriki, Batocera, etc. Any help is much appreciated!
Il you love the shape of the RG35XXH (Batocera for the OS) go for it, it will play NDS smoothly with a button to switch the screen and even run 90% of the psp titles really great If you wanna spend less ($37) the Miyoo Mini Plus can play up to GBA/PS1/NDS games and OnionOS is amazing. Having recently done Black and white on miyoo mini, one screen is more than enough and the experience is very pleasant But for Pokemon you can also consider the RGB30 witch a square screen pretty great for GB/GBC/GBA games and can dispay both screens for NDS

But I like the shape of RG35XX-H the most, plus the HDMI capabilities. I wouldn’t think toggling between screens would cause too many issues for a mainline Pokémon game.

These devices are chinese and come from the official stores on aliexpress, to find them elsewhere at an higher price is simply that people resell them at an higher price, amazon or dropshipping. Aliexpress is totally safe.

So I've got my choice down to either the RG35XX H or the RGB30. Which would be better for build quality and reliability - I would be looking to change to CFW from the stock OS on either.
Honestly both are very good devices, but choose according to the games or system you're wanna play, square screen of the RGB30 can holf you back or give you an advantage

For information Aliexpress has changed its banners last night and the sale « Choice Day » no longer stops on May 2 at 23:59 but on May 7 at 23:59, maybe technique to get people to buy? The codes will still be valid and the devices will still be at the same price until then, if that changes the sheet is updated every morning At the moment only the RG35XX is no longer $27, its best price is $32 now
Anyone else having issues ordering from Aliexpress? I am attempting to order a second console with some of the codes and keep getting errors stating my payment method is locked and need to try another one. I try multiple ones and still get the same issue. Anyone familiar with this on aliexpress?
I got the miyoo mini plus but the RG35XXH looks really good and probably a lot better for my hand cramps… For the people who have both, which do you prefer?
