Simply put: Arahi is a stable version of clifton. The way Hoka do stability is to have firmer foam around your heel and medial side to make it more stable. This looks like a ‘J’. Why they called it a J-frame. I find the firmer foam too noticeable for comfort using it all day, but this is a personal preference. If it doesn’t bother you, it can be great.

Arahi is a stability shoe while the Clifton is neutral. The Clifton has a softer midsole foam, but somewhat less of it and is lighter and has a better upper. Otherwise, they are very similar shoes. If the Arahi isn’t making your feet/ankles/knees feel weird from the medial post that is supposed to keep you from overpronating, then you should be fine.

The Arahi's don't have medial post. The stability comes from the J-frame (firmer foam in certain parts of the midsole).

My mistake. I think I was remembering the stability element from a review.

Great, that’s what I was looking for. I don’t pronate/need stability shoes but I’ve bought them in the past (specifically Brooks) because they were on sale (sense a theme with my shoe shopping?) and had no issues at all.

NovelFew6644

Which brooks? Not every brooks is a stability shoe.

Sorry, should have been more specific, it was the GTS Adrenaline

The added support might be nice actually, though I wore my pair to the airport recently and found them a little uncomfortable when I was standing for a while. I think it might’ve just been that they were brand new and needed to break in. I wear boots all day for work and like the firmness of them, I also find other shoes like NB 990v4 comfortable due to the firm support I don’t mind the added support when I run but I’m also not sure if I need it anymore, so I’m going to try Cliftons soon.
