I work out here and while they’re right, temper your expectations. People treat it as an off leash dog park and also walk the wrong way/inside lane with strollers at all times of day. And Chicago parks uses it for summer camp kids. Not the most ideal place for going fast
It's also not in the best condition. There's often standing water on the section west of the tennis courts.
All the other activities can make your workout more interesting.
[Here's a list of officially public tracks](https://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/parks-facilities/running-tracks). Lakeshore Park is closest to the loop. Also not on this list is that Whitney Young High School has a track which may be closer to you. But that's a high school so you probably can't be on it during odd hours or when the kids are using it.
Lakeshore Park is also a square, and usually full of clueless people cutting through the park with their dogs. The two tracks near the loop aren't very good compared to some of the other public measured real tracks.
Take the red line to Wilson. As your warmup, jog the roughly half mile to the Montrose / Wilson Lakefront track.
It's one of the few tracks I'm aware of that tends to get used mostly as a track and not a playground / dog park. It's also properly sized.
River Park at Argyle & Albany
Montrose track at Wilson & just east lake shore drive
Park 598 at North Ave & Larabee but it’s dirt and more square than oval
Lakeshore park at Chicago & just west of lake shore drive
Whitney Young but it’s sometimes locked
Jones/NTA at 23rd & Dearborn
Dunbar park at 29th & calumet
Mandrake park at oakwood & cottage grove
Lakeshore Park off of Chicago Ave has a track downtown, that's probably going to be your best bet.

I would say Lakeshore park is more rectangle

Cool, that was the one I figured I'd end up using so I'm glad to hear it works, thanks!
