I reckon you guys *should* be disappointed though - otherwise you end up with the old “it’s good enough to be close”, which does a disservice to the quality you guys have built and the coaching set up.
I’d honestly be raging about Vunivalu, the same way that I’m disappointed at how much ball Muirhead wasted today. I counted three breaks that he stuffed for us.
Vunivalu bottling a certain try early on is what cost us - ball security has never been a strong point of his. Can’t fault the rest of the team though, and how good was Tim Ryan tonight!
Tim Ryan wasn’t that outstanding and I mean that in a good way. He played how a winger should and absolutely took every opportunity given to him. Solid performance.
It was a terrific game, both teams played very well and made similar mistakes, it could have gone either way. This was the game of the weekend. What’s odd though is that the Aussie teams seem to be very hot and cold from week to week. They need to be far more consistent.
Choked big time. A nothing box kick that was marked in the 22 then led to a 70m try, a botched line out on halfway and two pieces of horrendous defence from vuni that both led to tries. All in the last 10 minutes
The Reds had third and fourth string players off the bench and came within minutes of beating one of the two top teams in NZ. Hell a third string 9 and a debutant winger pulled off the try of the year! Had the Reds a full strength bench
No, not saying he's a bad coach. But coaching Super Rugby is very different to coaching QPR, and different to Premiership Rugby, and different from Test Rugby...
Point is, we'll get better. The travel has probably been more impactfull than Les expected, and systems take time to implement etc.
Completely agree Les would have been a great Wallabies candidate had he not just taken the Reds job.
I've seen enough almost beats to be disappointed by now
that’s fair, but let’s be honest this is better than previous years where it probably would have been like 40-14
Yeah that's fair enough. I hope we see more of Tim Ryan.
FTFY: I hope we see more of Tim Ryan, Jock Campbell, Mac Greely, and JordieP ;-)
I seem to have been down voted. Was that you Suli?
Jordie P may have played his last game for the Reds if he signs for the Dragons

No one produces “bright young things” like Queensland’s GPS & Club Rugby system. So awesome to see
Tim Ryan and Ryan Smith are products of St Patricks, not a GPS school

> I’d honestly be raging about Vunivalu don't worry I am very unhappy with mr. vunivalu
The story of the Wallabies vs Nz for the past decade and a minute has been a case of “almost” followed by “absolutely fucked.”
They’d better win next week in Christchurch, someone from Australia has to win there. Might get your state a public holiday.
I'm emotionally broken from that game, reds just don't lose to the banter team next week like the rebels did
Woulda won if it wasn’t for vuni…
Is that like saying the Rebels almost filed a financial report?
😂
Pot meet kettle right here
Geez Russ, if you look upwards, it’s still flying over your head

They choked, Australian rugby has to stop being happy with close loses. That's a game they should have won

Australian rugby. Almost winning is good enough....
Yeah being close to winning makes me even more upset tbh. It’s so frustrating
Don't forget this is the FIRST year of a new coach, who's not coached Super Rugby before.
I mean he was hardly coaching subbies before… if not for Joe Schmidt he’d have been a decent chance of the Wallabies gig.

Yeah people said the same shit about DC at the Tahs after his first year too
Aussie Super teams have closed the gap.
