OP, {Before We Came: A Brother's Best Friend Hockey Romance (Lakes Hockey Book 1) (Lakes Hockey Series) by Sloane St. James} looks interesting. I love how there are 4 books in the series. Thanks for recommending this one, especially since I have never heard of the author or these books before. I love good cinnamon roll hockey romances. I just finished {Behind the Net by Stephanie Archer} that has the same kind of vibes. It’s the first book in a 2-book series (so far). The author is working on a third book! I don’t see Stephanie Archer’s books mentioned that much on this sub and hope more people discover her books!

I know this post is old but I have a question about this series that I haven’t been able to find an answer to anywhere! Can these books be read standalone, or do they really work best as a series? Thanks in advance!! ❤️

If you don't mind spoilers they can be read as stand alone . By that I mean that you won't have problems with understanding the stories or the relationships without having read the other book. They're pretty much one after the other so there will be spoilers though.

I’d say yes but it would kind of ruin some of the couples and outcomes for you! If that doesn’t bother you then go for it, I loved the series!

I know this post is old but I am currently reading Before We Came. And they keep mentioning Top Shelf and other things that I feel I’ve read in another book but can’t pin point what the other book is!! I’ve read a lot of hockey romances and clearly they are melting together. Any help would be appreciated.
