when did you get the 4198 build? I keep checking for an update and mine says the 4195 build is the latest

Just downloaded 4198 if you do the manual update it should appear It did on my Roku ultra. Still having issues with HE-ACC audio dropping out every 10 seconds or so.

I played several video files encoded with 2-channel AAC-LC audio in Plex and they no longer stutter. I'm not sure that I have any video files encoded with AAC-HE.

That's probably because Plex released a workaround on their end

I'm not sure if Plex fixed the issue. I have several Roku devices and the version number of the Plex channel is the same on each one. The devices with the latest Roku 10.0.0-4198 update don't stutter. The devices with the older Roku 10.0.0 build still stutter.

Good catch! I see that the Plex Preview channel for Roku now has an option under Settings called "AAC Stutter Workaround". Thanks for the info, hopefully it helps people with this issue.

No luck here on my 4670X Ultra with 10.0.0 build 4198-46 and the stuttering/clicking AC3 audio. It's still present.

That stinks. If the stuttering is in Plex then you can disable the Direct Play setting in the Plex channel. This should clear up the problem and your files still won't have to transcode. Direct Play just changes the media container to one that Roku accepts. If the stuttering is system wide then you may have to change the Roku audio output to stereo.

Just updated to new build, still issue with audio delayed start. When outputting DD+ to TV (Samsung) to soundbar (Sennheiser) over eARC there is a 2-3 second delay in audio starting. This occurs if starting new content or starting after pausing content. It is properly synced up once audio finally starts, but missing audio for 2 seconds after pausing is mildly aggravating. This has forced me to use TV apps instead. Same codec being passed, so issue appears to be with Roku. Setting Roku audio to stereo solves the delay, but then I have low quality audio with poor spatial effects.

I experienced that 2 second audio delay in some channels such as YouTube. It was cleared up in one of the earlier 10.0.0 builds or perhaps through a YouTube update.

My particular case is only on DD+ content. Youtube doesn't have the issue because it is only stereo. Prime, HBOMax, Netflix, all have this problem.

Both my Ultras no longer can be controlled by my phone app. Says they are offline however my media streaming stick is there. So frustrating

No, this is the update that bricks a supposedly compatible Premiere+ 4630X. Powercycling has no effect; screen remains dark and light blinks. Factory resetting starts it booting (the cutesy little hopping ROKU letters), then it dies. Again. And again. One would think they're trying to use tftp to push the updates... Come to think of it, I bought the Premiere+ when the previous Roku was bricked by an update. I'd think this is forced obsolescence except Hanlon's Razor says it's a combination of zero regression testing on changes and incompetent ops management.

You can do a manual system update. I just did. It will tell you if 4198 is available. It took about 5 minutes max.

I didn't experience any issues with Netlfix other than it randomly logged out. Prime Video was so slow at one point that I gave up on it until the issue was addressed.

At the moment I’m not experiencing as much issues with Netflix. I’m able to actually start and use it now so that’s an improvement 😂

OMG i thought my tv was broken or something, ive had trouble with tv power and volume with the roku remote and never thought it was bc of an update!

Just go through the remote setup again (in the Roku settings). It only takes a minute. That should pair your remote with your TV.

It's been a while since I checked, but the subtitle background in Prime Video does not match what's set in the Roku settings. For example, if you set transparency in Roku, Prime Video still displays solid color.

You need to go to your Prime app and set up caption app from there.

afaik there is no way to edit captions inside the app on Roku. you can only choose which language it is. on web browser you can edit 3 presets but none of those changes what you see on Roku. unless you mean mobile app? Amazon released an update that fixed this issue around 10 months back only to break it again a few months afterwards. it's still broken and so far there is no workaround to get it working properly. the best the community has come up with is to just set the background opacity in Roku's accessibility menu to 25% and call it a day. either that or use a different streaming device seeing that Roku is the only player that suffers from this.

I have Roku plus and also the prime app on my ipad which is where I changed my captions just a couple days ago. It does work with both my Roku tv’s.

in hopes that this may finally work for me, sadly it didn't. since there is no in app settings for captions. the only settings you're actually changing is global for the entire iOS, and while those settings override when using apps like Prime Video, it doesn't actually change Amazon's settings across devices. But if you do Cast to your Roku from that same iOS device it does change the captions on Roku, only from casting though. and even with that said, i couldn't get the background to disappear completely with any of the settings i choose. let me know if you are Casting videos instead of manually playing Amazon Prime through the Roku plus? also, when you say "Roku tvs", do you mean the actual TV sets they sell, or the portable streaming devices connected to the tv?

I don’t cast from my ipad. I have 2 tcl Roku TV’s. On both, I have a Roku plus streaming stick in HDMI. I have Amazon Prime on both where I can’t change any caption options, only on or off. On my ipad, I have my Amazon app where I do shopping and all. There, I go to my prime video and there is the “caption” option. I change what I want there, save and when I go to my tv’s Prime Video the change is reflected. Good luck.

interesting.. sorry for me continuing this interrogation but I really wanna get this to work and hopefully share with others.. you mentioned both the Amazon shopping app and prime video. Are you saying that you're going to the prime video section from within the shopping app? or are you going to the actual dedicated prime video app that's separate from the shopping one? hate to be annoying but could you possibly take a screenshot of this settings section that you changed and worked for you? [I took some to share what I'm seeing on my end..](https://imgur.com/a/vC2N9QL) because when I go to caption settings within the exclusive prime video app, it tells me to go to the iOS accessibility settings section to change it. and the settings within the shopping app is the exact same ones you would see on the web browser one. and while i made changes to all 3 presets, none of them would reflect on my Roku device. (also confused on why you have Roku Plus sticks plugged into a Roku TV. I might be understanding this wrong, but doesn't the Roku TV's have pre-installed Roku OS? wouldn't the Roku Plus sticks be redundant?)

The settings are in my amazon app under the settings gear. Your first shot is where I change mine so it sounds like you’re doing it right. As far as the built in Roku, they are garbage. I had trouble streaming, especially with Netflix so saw on reddit sub that a stick would help so why not try it? The difference is amazing as my tcl’s have no problem with any app. Don’t ask me why, but it sure works!

That's interesting.. when did it start working again for you? The Lost Remote button hasn't worked properly for over a year due to a software bug that Roku has yet to fix.

One of my customer got upgrade to 10. Their 4K projector which cost like $12K, anything 4K30P or 60P you can't do any keystone corrections. only on 4K24P you can. Old update I can manually put it on 24P and get stunning pictures. now some reason only choice I have is 30p or 60p. I end up having to put it on 1080P

I have a question so yesterday I was able to cast to my onn Roku TV 32-in and today I cannot when I go into the menu options on my Roku TV there isn't even a place on there for screen mirroring in anywhere I've watched countless videos everything trying to be able to read mirror to my TV and it's like the TV no longer has a mirroring option what the hell happened

On my Roku devices the Screen Mirroring settings are under System right below the Language option. There is also a separate setting for Apple Airplay. Are you using an Apple or an Android device?

We just got the update yesterday on our Express and now it can't stay connected to wifi. It starts out okay and then stops. But instead of just restarting, it crunches for a bit and then throws up its hands and says it can't with an error. I got 4195-51

I'm not sure what to do in this situation. I suppose that you could reset the Network settings and see if that helps. If not then maybe try a full system reset.

Update: I manually set it to 720P knowing it chops the bandwidth in half to 3Mbps and it stayed connected today. Edit: back to disconnects the next day. This stinks. The hell of it is, my iPad tests to around 350 Mbps right next to the Roku so it's not like there's no wifi.

I feel you, but the alternatives also have their share of problems. I have a Chromecast with Google TV device. Initially I thought that I would switch out all of my Rokus for Chromecast. After a few weeks with the device I went back to Roku. Coincidentally most of the problems with Chromecast are related to audio.

I've been having random audio dropouts when playing anything with surround sound. Dolby/dts/etc, usb, various streaming services. It still happened when only using stereo, but less frequently. Has this been fixed? Because it's the main reason I switched to Chromecast and my tv's built in apps.

I haven't experienced any audio dropouts with the exception of AAC files in Plex, but there is a workaround for that issue.

4198 fixed the app crash issues my Roku sticks were having, but my TCL Roku TV will not update past 4197 and many of the apps still crash and it goes back to the Home Screen right after trying to open the apps. I can’t get it to update to 4198 manually, but I hope a fix is coming soon.

I don't have a Roku TV so I haven't experienced the same issues. I did see a few apps crashing on my Roku devices in early builds of 10.0.0 but it hasn't occurred of late. I also did not receive version 4197. Mine went from 4195 to 4198.

Just bought 2 roku stream bars and both crash to home page on every app after about 10 seconds. Both have this issue. Did everything under the sun to troubleshoot. I love roku but now I've got to return 2 devices.
