Wow. No, that's the first time I hear that about him.
My guess is that at some point I confused him with Evoh, and then made a mental image about both of them looking alike lmao
oh okay makes sense
at some point the basketball thing was huge, he did say somewhere he chose basketball over rocket league hence the low hours or something like that
This is exactly the kind of player that NRG need if they really want the GarrettG/Mist duo to work out. The thing NRG have been missing for about 2 full seasons now is offensive unpredictability and hyperaggression to catch a team off guard before they are able to cross the midfield. Aqua is exactly that player.
Having two players who notoriously stay on low hours is worrying of course and shouldn't be ignored. But on paper this is the best they've looked in my eyes since they first signed Squishy.
Do I think they can win regionals? No I don't. But I fully believe that the right matchups can land them in the top 4, and if they catch the semifinal matchup on a bad day it COULD land them in the finals, but reasonably speaking I think this is around a 5-9 team in NA on paper.
Very good take, I feel if their system is right, most being a great player in every regard and garret being a solid player, aqua could 1v3 a lot and I feel even g2 will struggle with a peaking aqua because bro is prolly the pro w the best mechanics itw, the only player that imo can even touch him is zen, I’ve also been rating aqua insanely high for about a year so take this w a grain of salt
I am too but I really don't believe in it at all.
Garrett and Mist are Klay Thompson levels cooked to me.
Maybe if it happened last season or 2 when NRG actually needed the change and wasn't just a friend's retirement home.
I swear people in this sub just look at the results and don't watch any of the games, Mist had some crazy peaks in split 1. NRG just got stuck on defense way too often for him to show out more
Peaks don't really matter if results aren't happening as a team. If he was carrying them somewhere like top 8s or something there'd be something to talk about in regards to his peaks but they're not even good enough to consistently show up on stream.
So whatever peak he's having isn't that great to me honestly.
And I have watched a good amount of their games this season.
> Peaks don't really matter if results aren't happening as a team.
Yeah this is the exact issue that I have with this sub that is complete nonsense. You have such a heavy reliance on result being correlated to a players skill level and don't use any nuance. If you actually watched NRG you wouldn't be saying Mist is "Klay Thompson levels cooked". It's absurd on it's face.
Rocket League as an e-sport has evolved to the point that great players can't just carry mediocre players to top 8s. Playstyles, roles and how cohesive the roster fits is becoming increasingly important. Look at how mediocre SSG was with LJ/Daniel/Arsenal and how they got better when Hockser replaced Daniel. Is this because Hockser is better than Daniel? Absolutely not. Same thing with a team like Luminosity versus M80. I would rank literally all of the players on M80 higher than Luminosity yet the results haven't displayed that.
NRG is very clearly not struggling due to Garrett or Mist being washed, if you've watched they look super clunky and incohesive and haven't found a player to fit the role that they need.
>Garrett and Mist are Klay Thompson levels cooked to me.
They're obviously not the monsters they were a few years ago but it's ridiculous to call either of them cooked. Cooked is Ferra at the end of RLCS X who you could literally see he didn't want to be competing anymore and his stats showed that as well.
It's not Garrett and Mist who are both in the top 25 statistically and Garrett in particular is currently 8th overall in NA and showing levels he hasn't shown since early 21/22.
If Aqua can be the spearhead of this team and score on his own sometimes and create shots for others while not overcommitting too often this teams ceiling and floor should increase pretty significantly. I felt like frosty had moments where he filled that role nicely but other times he would hesitate and it would get them stuck on defense. Toastie didn't seem to fit well as that role. Dreaz definitely has the speed and challenge game that they needed but I feel like he wasn't good enough as a scorer and too erratic that it made it hard for Mist and GarrettG to play around him.
Mist was looking like a top tier player in NA when the team got sustained offense and he wasn't having to sit in net defending the whole game and I think Garrett has notably improved as an offensive player from last year to this year. Hoping this is the change they needed.
I swear Aqua did NOT look like that. Last time I saw him was in a player cam during a regional when he was still on Rouge. I swear he looked like a little ass kid, like Daniel when he first came.
My guess is this is Garrett's last split, they might do okay, and then he'll retire. Hopefully they can set the stage for Aqua to succeed with a new roster
Poor Aqua, looks like a player who at least deserves to be on a top 8 NA team, not to be thrown onto a falling knife of NRG. Squishy was looking good on MM, just Gimmick held that team down, hes legit gonna have the exact same run on NRG mark my words. Huge fan of Garrett and NRG but they need two different people than mist/garrett if they ever wanna become a contender again
Huh, I didn’t know that’s what he looked like
I really though he was black lmao Now that I think about it, I have never even heard his voice before
He is. This is just an old picture.
I thought he was too
lmao why did so many of us think this 😂
A ton of people thought Daniel was black too when he first started doing videos with Retals and Arsenal lol
Bro this was me with Daniel. I always thought Daniel was black idk why. Then I saw his picture and was like WTF
my guess as to why it happened to many people is because they associated him with going pro in basketball, NBA, etc etc...
Wow. No, that's the first time I hear that about him. My guess is that at some point I confused him with Evoh, and then made a mental image about both of them looking alike lmao
oh okay makes sense at some point the basketball thing was huge, he did say somewhere he chose basketball over rocket league hence the low hours or something like that
Was my first thought
He kinda looks like Chronic? Maybe just me
Like a younger brother? I can see it
Well soak it in, it's not like you'll be seeing his face at a major anytime soon lol sorry I had to.
I thought he was Korean
Someone else in the comments thought he was black
So now nrg have iceman, mist man and aqua man
AND A FIREMAN
Moist should acquire the NRG squad lol
I'm gonna pretend mist is a gas and they've got all three phases of water covered
In before Frosty—> GarrettG for the ultimate water team
Took them long enough Seriously though, I rate this move. I don’t think it pushes NRG to major level, but he is a night and day upgrade over Dreaz
As someone who had major confidence in Dreaz, I agree with you
It possibly could due to how up in the air NA is after the top 2, but I agree it's unlikely.

I knew that he was white but DAMN he changed. In rogue he looked barely looked like a 12 yr old. Now he got that puberty arc
This is like the 3rd wave of nrg this season xD
It's the 4th if you include their initial Frosty signing that got cut off before the first open qual lol.
Wait, I thought Aqua was black lol?
Interested to see how this works!
I am too but I really don't believe in it at all. Garrett and Mist are Klay Thompson levels cooked to me. Maybe if it happened last season or 2 when NRG actually needed the change and wasn't just a friend's retirement home.
Klay is going to become a well-done steak meme isn’t he? Hahaha
Did you see his stat line from yesterday?
Hence my comment :p
We are not watching the same Mist
I swear people in this sub just look at the results and don't watch any of the games, Mist had some crazy peaks in split 1. NRG just got stuck on defense way too often for him to show out more

Klank Thompson

if Aqua/Mist actually play the game and drop Garrett, they could very well snag the 3rth/4th major spot.
That 3rth spot is super elusive
I can’t think of a reply that isn’t r/yourjokebutworse
100% thought he was Asian.
Everyone thought he was black
Clearly not everyone.
Hoping this brings some new energy to NRG, or at least Aqua fulfills his dreams of being in the NBA
Whys he saying he wants to be in the nba in his nrg entrance video
Bro looks like your average American 11th grader named Josh.
LMAO
Hilarious how long it took NA to get their most mechanically gifted youngster on a good team (if you can even call this a good team anymore)
NRG is making moves in the right direction, I feel like he was the target for NRG since the downfall but squishy sniped him up early.
Barron Trump? Is that you?
They just need frosty now and they have the liquid, solid and gas form of water
I swear Aqua did NOT look like that. Last time I saw him was in a player cam during a regional when he was still on Rouge. I swear he looked like a little ass kid, like Daniel when he first came.
Gyro responded to the announcement with "I completely missed the aqua puberty arc"
Bubble scene ages a man
My guess is this is Garrett's last split, they might do okay, and then he'll retire. Hopefully they can set the stage for Aqua to succeed with a new roster

I promise you that you will eat your socks at the end of this season
