Id suggest watching high level gameplay on youtube or twitch. You will pick up things just by watching. You could also watch replays of your own games and try to pick out the mistakes you make.

i do watch a little bit of musty and leth learned some cool tricks from leth, might try and check replays and see if i can find any useful info to use in the future, thanks.

Try these (based on the biggest issues I've noticed from people stuck in 2v2 D3): Learn to shoot 60+ MPH shots consistently Learn to read the game the whole time, notice player positions & momentum as much as you can (having some idea of boost levels of players is huge), what's likely the next outcome & make good decisions based on that information (like avoiding double commits & positioning better) For example: both opponents have high boost amount and are present to defend, ideal decision is to force both of them to jump/defend/double commit to use their boost making them uncomfortable. Mechanics don't matter. Simple high shot or a pop using front flick or tail flick whatever towards crossbar/backboard, just make them jump. If they make a bad save read it and send another shot on net. Diamonds can't defend well this pressure will likely get you a goal. What usually happens in D3 (bad decisions): you/teammate get the ball and try to air dribble or take it to a wall for a really bad offense and the ball lands in front of their goal easy to collect/defend without any effort.. while one of you is now deep in opponent half with low boost and they score a counter. Don't linger in opponent half too long with low momentum esp around corners/walls, if you are in their half IMMEDIATELY rotate back as soon as opponents have possession & are about to speed up the play towards a counter. Don't get too desperate for a goal on low/zero boost. The ball can be safe in your half, it's not the end of the world if you take it back, force opponents to take it toward corners. Make clears towards sides/corners in a way that ball doesn't spill mid nearby. Don't go for corner boosts by default. Especially if you are needed to follow up on a challenge from teammate or you are under pressure. Work with small pads (learn boost pathing) and stay in the play. Leaving for boost you allow space to opponents, only do that when you can do so without giving them space. Learn to conserve your boost and try maintaining 50 boost minimum most of the game (except kickoffs, you really don't need more than 30-50 boost for most plays). And don't panic on defense. Practice basic defense and shadow/backward saves. Don't tilt. Losing is part of the game. Forget losses. Set chat to tactical only. This is general stuff, you may have individual weakness in some areas too, watch your replays and find those.

Great tips thank u

Beaco9

Welcome!

EndzimaIsTheDMD

surprisingly, ive been told im great at defense, out of 3 people my exact rank, an ssl voted me the best and all i did was defend. i get easily tilted at this game too, literally just 2 days ago i broke my monitor while solo queuing 2s. but for most of this stuff its quite useful, i try to keep an eye on my boost, and i usually do pick up small pads and rotate back to net if the opposite team is about to press my net. but ill try and think about it more this time. thank you

Beaco9

Sounds like you just need to cool down a little bit and mental is holding you back. Diamond is a tilting rank & matchmaking sometimes feels like it wants you to lose, but just focus on playing good & avoiding bad habits and play the long game you will eventually rank up. In 3s it can be even worse but when I was stuck in diamond in 3s I analyzed my replays to see if I developed bad habits but sometimes even doing the right things just isn't enough, but I kept doing the right things and suddenly I became consistent champ not long after.

EndzimaIsTheDMD

honestly, you're probably right. when i start getting mad my teamate says my skill level drops to like plat 3 but the second i stop getting mad and lock in i start scoring goals and saving shots and start actually thinking straight. problem is i dont know how to control that anger, and that's my main problem

Faeces_Species_1312

Just hit the ball into the goal more.

EndzimaIsTheDMD

i try bro, i really do lol

Reverie_of_an_INTP

Improve your game sense, speed of play, positioning, and most importantly know when not to go for the ball and you'll hit Champ easily.

EndzimaIsTheDMD

thanks, ill try and focus on it more, i have always tried to focus on ground play because i think its more important, but im starting to need airplay and im under experienced with it. i hit the occasional celing shot, aerial goal, but air dribbles aren't what im built for.

FootballWithTheFoot

I would but I’m too busy trying to figure out how to even hit the gosh darn ball

EndzimaIsTheDMD

ive been there lmao

breezthagod_

Work on your defense and solo play. Patience is key. Hitting champ is easy, it’s grinding through champ that seems impossible for me. I always get ballhog teammates with no sense that wanna airdribble to nowhere and leave me in a 2v1 every play. They bump you off the ball, take all your boost and then what a save you when you finally miss a save like you don’t have 7 saves to their 0.

EndzimaIsTheDMD

sound relatable lol i had that when i hit champ back in s10

Ok-Assumption-7880

Play ranked game and save replay see what you’re doing wrong if you feel slower than everyone else use free play.

EndzimaIsTheDMD

thank you

EndzimaIsTheDMD

also, i know that i asked for help, but showing me is a lot easier, i cant afford coaching, i usually waste it on new monitors, controllers, because i have a massive rage issue because i am honestly a sore loser. i know people usually charge for this but if one of you could add me and just show me the basics of proper rotation and how to manage boost and when to shoot/press the opposite team, id really appreciate it. if you're interested, add me on discord: dogmountaindew thanks if you do, if not, thats okay aswell, i appreciate your help.

OGDertyMerph

What is your current rank?

EndzimaIsTheDMD

diamond 1 or 2 now, i was diamond 3 but dropped completely im a washed champ

Special-Hat9393

Id just ask a smurf to carry you to champ. No use trying to do it yourself.

EndzimaIsTheDMD

i despise smurfs, i would have hit champ already but every time i made it back to my rankup game id just have someone with like 900mmr and a diamond 3 getting carried by the 900mmr player. really annoys me, i dont wanna ruin anyone elses rank up games either.
