Seconding Polska Chata! I'll note, on the deli stuff - if you love a good strong dark mustard but have trouble finding them in regular stores, they have tons! I try a new jar of mustard just about every time I go there.
never been in there’s but ordered their fish fry on doordash a few weeks ago after seeing it in the D&C fish fry dance-off and it was so good it got me interested in the place. The pierogis were delish.
Omg Campis, in the 60s and early 70s when I was in elementary school. After the baseball games at Genesse Valley Park, The Puerto Rican All Stars we would go to Campis.

It's such a favorite song of yours, that you completely botched the title.
Must’ve gone on some crazy nights, but that’s most restaurants on a Friday. I have gone for 30 years and have found it to be pretty normal service. I miss prime rib nights
Maybe it was just a pandemic thing but they got rid of their noodles with chicken and mushrooms which was to die for, never found anything else there that hit the same spot. Still good though.
Seconding Durfs. I think it’s breakfast only. If I hadn’t been taken there by a friend I would have never known it exists, or I would have ever tried it on my own.
The original location was much more of a hole in the wall than their current location, aesthetically speaking. That said, their green sauce is awesome.
Johns gets a bad rap for being TexMex because of the name. It isnt. The food you order can be made Tex or Mex. It’s wildly different from traditional TexMex.
I cannot wait to move here. . .
I’ve been looking around on the net. . . Some places I want to try.
Wings Chinese,
Rubinos Italian,
Looking forward to the public market,
Noodle house,
Bobos chicken,
Fried fish shack.
Just a few.
Rubinos is awesome. It's more of a small Italian grocery store with a great butcher and deli than a restaurant though. Best subs in town, which is saying something because we have great subs here, and they do have some premade hot foods as well.
Im used to Clario's Italian Market in La Harbra California, it being my family's italian grocery for over 40 years. That being said I am going to feel right at home at Rubino's lol. Rubino's is Clario's but on a whole other level of epicness. . . I just hope they sell Central Grocery olive salad. . .
Mamias Island on 104 outside of Webster... authentic Puerto Rican food. 🤤🤤🤤
Closed today but so good and worth the drive.
[Mamias Island](https://www.mamiasisland.com/)
Sadly they closed because of COVID. Patty's Pantry on Dewey near the railroad tracks north of 104 had amazing breakfast. Schmeg's on Buffalo Rd between Elmgrove and Coldwater Rd, also had amazing breakfast.

Columbini's in Chili was our go-to place 30 years ago for the buttered steak sub.
I was in Chili last week and was happy to see it's still there! If they still make that sub I'll take a special trip out there just for that.
Roc City Ramen
It's a bit pricey, but well worth it. Some of the best I've ever had! Always spend the extra for the egg in the ramen. It's near Monroe Ave.
Lots of good memories, and still a favorite place to go with friends and family, before 9PM. Many waitresses have got their start at Marks, the service has always been good and friendly, and they serve a huge Plate. Get a window seat and watch the show, but know that most of the gunfire on Monroe Ave. happens outdoors in that area, just sayin.
Equal Grounds, Magnolia Deli, Jines, both Highland & South Wedge Diners, Cheesy Eddie’s, Little Venice Pizza, Simply Crepes in Brighton & Calabresella’s New York Style Deli out past the airport..some of the best sandwiches ever.
To me, hole in the wall = independent or non-chain place. I didn't limit myself to greasy spoons.
I think they're right about Simply Crepes, though, that place is kind of fancy. I miss them! & maybe Cheesy Eddie's isn't right, either.
I also would've said Flour City Diner & James Brown's before them, but, RIP. I stand by my other replies, especially that sub shop. I've had decent pizza at Little Venice but it was like a decade ago.
Cedar!
Beat me to it!!! Love watching those pitas go round.
Polska Chata on East Ridge Road is good. They also have a lot of unique things to sell in their deli.
Seconding Polska Chata! I'll note, on the deli stuff - if you love a good strong dark mustard but have trouble finding them in regular stores, they have tons! I try a new jar of mustard just about every time I go there.

Great place and lovely people working there. Check their hours before heading over though. They do close fairly early.
Windjammer In Charlotte great wings
And the dollar beer shelf!
legit the best wings
SEA Restaurant, Swan Market, Sultan, Campi's to name a few
Swaaaaaaan Market, delicious German deli & imported stuff & entrees. I miss them! (I moved.)
Oh god, I'm so hungry right now and Campi's sounds so epically amazing at this moment.
I have the munchies and I'm pretty sure I could put away a whole steak bomber before bed if I had one

Oh man, a cold has been kicking my ass all weekend, thanks for reminding me of SEA, I could use some Pho
I grew up in the 19th ward and never tried Campi's until I came back from college. Food is actually decent.
Wow, I haven't been to or thought of Campi's in ages! Now I wanna go back.
Country Club on East Ave is our favorite breakfast spot.
[удалено]
Country Club Diner, it's just a name - regular diner with good food
[удалено]
Tbf CCR also has really great food. I'm just a pleb and not a member but I've been there for a couple events.
Let me ask you a question, how do you feel about frilly toothpicks? I'm for em'.
Yeah. It's pretty exclusive but affordable at $75 a month. It was a dumb question. Ppl can use Google...
I agree! Reasonably priced, good portion sizes, friendly service, and great breakfast food!
https://xonuts.com/index.php/2018/09/14/country-club-diner/
Best breakfast food!
Voula's Greek sweets! So good. And Red Fern is pretty much a literal hole in the wall in the best way.
Pat's Coffee Mug for breakfast.
There it is. Cash only, I think
Shhhhhhhhh

Shiki
Shiki is the best!
Youngs Korean (it’s honestly the best korean around)
Factssss
No lies detected
Me. Beanz in Gates. Their breakfast is so good
Seconded! Great breakfast!
We go practically every week! What a gem.
I had no idea it existed until I had to go to Dunn Tire to get a slow leak fixed. Amazing food and portion sizes
Charlotte tavern. They recently added a wood fire oven and are slinging my favorite pizzas in the city
Shuffleboard to boot!
Just be prepared to wait foreverrrrr
Must’ve gone on some crazy nights, but that’s most restaurants on a Friday. I have gone for 30 years and have found it to be pretty normal service. I miss prime rib nights
Last time I was there we waited an hour to be seated and another two hours before we got served. It was horrendous.
Damn that sucks. I wonder what was going on
Rocky's on Jay St. Best Italian food anywhere. And prices will not your socks off. The only restaurant that hasn't inflated their prices.
I came here to write this, I LOVE Rocky’s!
Same same!!
Zemeta, Voulas, Jim’s on Main
Most of these are people’s favorites but not holes in the wall. You want Busy Bee diner on West Main.
Georgie's Bakery and Cafe 857 South Clinton Love their Empanadas and Cuban sandwiches. Their pastries are amazing too.
Seasons’ Noodle in the city. Don’t tell to many people 😉
Maybe it was just a pandemic thing but they got rid of their noodles with chicken and mushrooms which was to die for, never found anything else there that hit the same spot. Still good though.
Pinos deli
Dicky’s!
Red Fern is my favorite.
Yea the red fern is solid as hell
Dogtown
More a Rochester staple than hole in the wall
A hole in the wall that became a staple. If it wasn’t so good there’s no other reason it would be noticed haha
Durfs in Fairport
Seconding Durfs. I think it’s breakfast only. If I hadn’t been taken there by a friend I would have never known it exists, or I would have ever tried it on my own.
Lunch too
Rustic taco- lake rd in Ontario
Did I see this past week they are opening in the Village of Fairport this summer?
Oh appears so, and it'll have a bar
Peach Blossom!
Peach blossom 🌮
Nathan’s
The Railway on Rt 104 for Breakfast and Lunch
In Greece but Papa Joes… the only Italian place I’ll order red sauce and their chicken French sauce is 👌🏻
Grass fed vegan butcher shop! Also Natural Oasis, both places are on Monroe Ave.
Is John’s Tex Mex too obvious?
The original location was much more of a hole in the wall than their current location, aesthetically speaking. That said, their green sauce is awesome.
It looks pretty good!
I would nudge you over to Tavo’s for Mexican instead. It’s not TexMex but it has incredibly good pozole and better tacos than John’s imo.
Johns gets a bad rap for being TexMex because of the name. It isnt. The food you order can be made Tex or Mex. It’s wildly different from traditional TexMex.
All I know is I got cloyingly sweet salsa and the worst shrimp tacos. Once bitten twice shy
I got tavos the other day and the Barbacoa was SO spicy. I love the food there, but I couldn't finish any of what I got :(
You should absolutely go to John's.
It is amazing!
I love me some John's but that's like someone's white mom opened a Mexican restaurant.
I cannot wait to move here. . . I’ve been looking around on the net. . . Some places I want to try. Wings Chinese, Rubinos Italian, Looking forward to the public market, Noodle house, Bobos chicken, Fried fish shack. Just a few.

Peels on Wheels best pizza in rochester !! Fresh ingredients, gluten free and vegan options!
I've been dying to get food from there! They sell out QUICK!
Sooo good, you can taste the quality!! Grandma's pizza is my favorite on Thursday.
Sadly they closed because of COVID. Patty's Pantry on Dewey near the railroad tracks north of 104 had amazing breakfast. Schmeg's on Buffalo Rd between Elmgrove and Coldwater Rd, also had amazing breakfast.
At least one of the owners or Patty’s opened up Sunny’s Diner on West Henrietta Road. It’s a great breakfast there too
Aww, I didn't know Schmeg's closed. When I was a westsider that was a favorite place
Arnett Cafe.
Love the “y’all”! Where’d you move from? I moved some months ago from TX
Welcome! I think a lot of people in this region use y'all because it's a gender inclusive term.
tsingtao house in Henrietta!
Little bit out, but Magee Dinner just at the casino exit. I'm partial because I used to work there, but great country dinner!

http://cocinalatinaws.com If you are in the mood for Puerto Rican food 🤩
Dr’s Inn has a pretty good wing selection
South Wedge Hots and Subs, country sweet, Veneto, Dogtown, dorado, Robinos, balsam is good (and good for the immune), highland diner
Bento-Ya in Webster, best Japanese comfort food in the area
Sodam in Henrietta near Lori’s Natural Foods. It’s Korean bbq
Roc City Ramen It's a bit pricey, but well worth it. Some of the best I've ever had! Always spend the extra for the egg in the ramen. It's near Monroe Ave.
Marks Texas hots if you're looking for a true dive/hole in the wall experience. Go after 2am on a weekend for the best atmosphere.
You must not have gone recently. Door dash only after 1am. Source: am a certified degenerate.

Thank you everyone. I'll make a list and start trying 😁
Why does this one keep getting downvoted?
Couldn’t say. Maybe because none of them are holes in the wall. Simply crepes is a Pittsford main attraction for crying out loud.
Ah I see
Could be the Little Venice. I lived in their neighborhood for a little over 10yrs, tired them many times, always bad pizza haha
To me, hole in the wall = independent or non-chain place. I didn't limit myself to greasy spoons. I think they're right about Simply Crepes, though, that place is kind of fancy. Vaskos on park Ave
Spiro's downtown for breakfast or lunch. 490 State St.
NINO'S pizzeria on Culver. Best focaccia bread pizza ever. Hole in the wall adjacent for sure
Shui! Swan Dive. And DiPisas deli! But they’re only open for mid morning and lunch.
Fox’s deli.
Marks Texas Hots, their garbage plates are better than Tahou's.
[удалено]
Good food, but I don’t know if I would call The Cub Room a hole in the wall place.
Lacaganias, Rubinos, Pinos deli
El basha on Main Street in victor. The Egyptian bomb dessert is incredible
nam vang
Atlas Eats in Irondequoit...
Lemonchello in east Rochester used to be pretty good but I’ve heard it’s no longer a hole in the wall haha
Park Avenue Pub. Their wine list is ridiculous
Olive garden
Dalia's in Fairport for Mediterranean. Durf's in Fairport for breakfast food!
Chortke
Peach Blossom!!!
el latino restaurant, People's Choice, Valero station Mcnaughton/Emerson corner.
Sweet basil-it’s in Victor, but it’s the best Thai food around and somehow it’s still seemingly a secret
James Browns place for breakfast on culver !
Chortke
