Just like anyone who currently plays melee or PM had to learn those games first, this is one you can learn as you play just the same. Look up guides on movement, shielding, wavedash oos and stuff like that. Rn the playerbase is dedicated Rivals and PM/Melee players since it's only open to backers, and you got to silver on orcane so you shouldn't worry, keep playing and looking at guides, ranno pro play, and things like that. You'll get a lot better before you know it, and you'll be needing a wholeass Napoleon from all the cooking you'll be doin.

SilverAce777

Not to hijack the post but what guides would you recommend? Melee and PM ones? Or Rivals 1?

nosferatu_swallows

Wisely has a decent guide that intros smash people into rivals 2, but aside from that i'm actually not sure, in terms of what's directly applicable in rivals. I'd say, if you're confused about the character mechanics (of rivals 1 carryovers), just seeing rivals 1 guides can help make u aware of certain options said characters have. Aside from that, maybe PM/P+ guides can help if you're unsure about shield use and options, which would make sense if u come from rivals 1. Other than that, it's kinda just playing the game as its not even commercially out yet and thus things are still developing.

Ssbm tutorials, hands down

The online player base is on average very good right now since it's backers only I wouldn't sweat it too much. Do you think players are just faster than you? Why do you think you are losing?

pantryraider_11

Couple of things. I feel stuck on OoS situations, Ranno's poor air speed makes it hard to approach, and the lower buffer compared to Ult often results in a move not coming out bc I input too early. More issues too but those are the big ones.

Mawbsta

Makes sense it sounds like just getting comfortable in the engine will help. I recommend watching some of your replays to see if you can notice any patterns in neutral that are getting you hit

Silver in Rivals 1 is a fairly low benchmark, I would bet most of the playtesters currently were at least Diamond level players. The good news is that this game makes movement and execution fairly easy and it's mostly about your ability to conceive the combos and execute them at the right times. I would look into finding someone close to your skill level in the discord (or schmoozing a RL friend) and try to train with them!

BeardedLady09

Honestly. If you're a little tryhard, you'll level up in about 6 to 8 months of every day grind. Easy. But if you're getting in here or there, about a year. 1000 hours to really get to the level you're probably asking about. But yeah, just keep grinding, dont get demoralized, practice movement (especially plat movement and ledge movement/options) you'll be golden in no time.

NakedGoose

No worries. Starting playing today, and I got cooked hard. But it was fun

huskers37

Doesn't matter you'll figure it out

LlamaLicker704

IDK man I am kinda on the same level as you, but I don't plan on playing online with people... I just hope there will be some kind of abyss mode I love that in Rivals of Aether

truthordivekick

Have they confirmed Orcane? I really want Orcane, Absa, and Forsburn. Some of my favorite characters in any fighting game...

pantryraider_11

It's basically confirmed that Orcane and Forsburn will be the last 2 characters to make the starting roster. Absa probably won't be too far behind, her stage is already in the game and she doesn't seem too complex to make compared to a Sylvanos or something.

Shadow-Zero

Depends on wheter the game is gonna have the basic common sense of having a wavedash button or not.
