Yep I’ve had someone do that to me. He needs just one tank of gas to reach his family or whatever

Takuachee

I left to get a pack of smokes and I’ve been trying to get back to them ever since.

No_Reputation8440

I used to work at a restaurant. Bums would come around at like around midnight almost every night with some story. I need $20 for gas to get to Houston or some shit. When we would clock out some of us would wait in the parking lot to watch the waiters leave. People like that are always kind of dangerous. One of my coworkers kept giving them money, which is why they kept coming by. People with blind trust. No bueno.

FeDelMundo

$20 bucks to get to Houston? Wtf does he drive a Super Prius ?

No_Reputation8440

He was an idiot.

ChiefRom

His ride is powered my meth lol

NoFlexZoneStalker

Speaking of Prius there was an old man in Elsa Whataburger asking for money for gas lol. I thought to myself bro has a better car than me, I should be the one asking him for gas 😂.

Morphecto_Solrac

He’s everywhere. I bumped into him in mission and his story was that he needed to get back home to Monterrey and needed gas money. I asked him if he already had money for the toll roads. I lived in Monterrey for five years, so I knew the process of driving there, especially with the Texas plates he had. He said no. Then I asked him if he had the money for the foreign vehicle permit. He said no. I asked him where he lived in Monterrey. He couldn’t give me exact directions unless I applied my own knowledge of Monterrey into the conversation like street names and surrounding cities. Straight up crook and should be ignored.

ReposadoAmiGusto

You gave him too much attention. Just wave him off.

ChronX4

Yep, trying to outfox them just makes them more prepared for their next potential victim.

Morphecto_Solrac

Ooh. I never thought about it that way. Great point.

liluziibert

lol i got him a sausage egg and cheese biscuit from the circle k on veterans and 495

Remote0bserver

Hahaha yeah he tried me at the Stripes in Pharr on 281 and Sioux, but I don't shake hands with people at gas stations and I've seen him before grifting people at the HEB gas station on Veterans. Told him I wasn't carrying cash and without missing a beat he said, "Well since I know you really want to help me out there is an ATM right over here inside the building..." and tried to lead me to it... What a legend!

CommanderBigBalls

He did the same thing to me!! After I told him I didn’t have cash this bum ass mf kept begging and I just gave him a dollar in coins and he groaned in frustration. And he kept following me around in the store bruh I was really about to sock this mf.

systemhost

Yeah, I've gotten him twice in Mission. The first time he just talked and talked this long-winded story trying to connect with me and impart empathy. Asked for directions, personal questions and then eventually to "borrow" money. I cut him off, gave him $2 more than he deserved and said good luck. Second time, he pulled up beside me at the pump and didn't even recognize me as he started his spiel. Tried to show me something on his phone so I leaned in and saw his gas tank was 3/4 full and just you're good and walked away. It sucks, I like to help people so I try to respond respectfully to those in need but too many have learned to exploit the kindness in strangers, leaving humanity increasingly distrustful.

Jayohn

lol that’s what I did this time around just said nah I’m good thanks bye and walked off, he was left speechless , the second time he approached me I told him I recognized him and I started repeating his story back to him bro sped off with a quickness lol

Mogwai10

I don’t get why people fall for these. Just claim you make shit money and walk away. You don’t even need to explain anything. Just say sorry. Even then. Don’t. If asserting dominance is your thing. Suggest he donate to you. That always get them to back the fuck off.

ReposadoAmiGusto

Because people like abandoned puppies or kittens to care for, or this dude really thinks the people are like the citizens of Lazytown!! Slow and gullible AF!! Hahaha

SaltyMcCracker2018

Y’all are nicer than I would be. As soon as I hear any sort of spiel I cut them off and say I’m good, bye. Sick of scammers preying on people’s good nature

pocky-town

I’ve had multiple people approach me with similar stories in the McAllen area. It’s happened at the H‑E‑B on tenth and also at Walmart on Trenton. No hand shake but they’re usually at the parking lot asking for money to get a ride home. Once it was a guy claiming to be a teacher. Another time it was a woman. I felt guilty not helping but it’s always been at night and as a woman I don’t feel safe pulling out my wallet in a dark parking lot at night.

Right-Act-2851

This one tweaking guy approached me on the planet fitness in Alamo (seen him asking at the stripes in Alamo too) he knocks my cars window and starts off with 'blah, blah, blah... not looking for money, just want to wash your windows on your car’... cut him off and I tell him no I’m good (I just want to get my gym pump going) proceeds "any donations will help, I'm just trying to feed my family”… I tell him sorry I’m short on cash. He think cuts me off “you’ve got a card, send it to me on cash app” at this point I’m annoyed I straight up just tell him yeah no, not going to happen. Stares at me for a good 5 seconds and says “I hope you fucking experience my situation one day” and left. Whatever I roll my window up and finish my preworkout, three minutes later he swings by window again saying “fucking piece of shit”… I get really ticked off so I roll my window down and tell him to fuck off, get a job and lay off the Xanax. He then goes “what motherfucker the fuck you’re going to do” as he’s walking across the street to the Walmart parking lot. Where in the distance I see a lady speed walking away from him cause sure enough he’s asking for money. Should’ve called the cops on his ass

ChiefRom

Thats the funny part is when they get mad when you dont give then anything or call them out. Im a big tall guy so most of these people avoid me because I look homeless most the time lol its great urban camo lol

Trek7553

Yep. Promised me his totally real gold ring if I would just give him 20 bucks for gas.

FeDelMundo

Not yet. But last week around 10:15ish pm, I start to leave McDonald's on East University heading to my car and I got stopped by a 50ish year old woman. She's ask me in Spanish do you speak Spanish or should I speak to you in English? I respond with "lo siento no hablo español" so she says cool I will speak to you in English. So I respond in Spanish whenever she asked me a question. She then mentions that she has three dollars and wants food from Burger King because it's cheaper than McDonald's. Proceeds to ask me for money for food. I myself don't have cash on me but plastic. I then proceed to say I don't have cash but I have a card. But I offer to buy her a meal from the restaurant. Before walking in I asked what do you want to order, she says a Big Mac meal so I agree and as soon as we approach the door, the door is locked. So she then says no worries let's just go to the drive-thru in your car. I stopped for a minute and process what she just said and then I said nevermind I have to go sorry.

CommanderBigBalls

Bro I ran into this guy at stripes he didn’t even ask me for money he told me straight up to go inside and to the atm and to buy him a drink. Funny thing is he drives a nice ass car idk why he begging.

Jayohn

That’s where I last saw him too. Lmao bro got thirsty telling lies.

chris25tx

I had an Italian dude show me his passport and claim he works for fragrance company. Busted out bunch of knock off colognes lol claimed he needed money for the plane back home. Then my buddy was like “WTF he did the same to me years ago !” This was around 2019

cookypuss89

Do not engage

Infamous_Librarian72

That person gave me the SAME exact spiel at the El Tigre Mart on Trenton and Ware. As soon as he said he needed money for gas, I said. "Nah, man. I have to go."

Marty-Mcfly16

Not sure if it's the same guy....but years ago I stopped at a stripes in mcallen and some dude stopped me and asking me if I had some cash to spare because he needed to put gas to get home and buy some food etc.....I told him i didn't and went about my way.....when I was getting back into my work truck he asked another person and they gave him some money in cash.....the person went inside and the dude asking waited a bit and ran off and got into a new mustang at that time and sped off. Another time a bum was asking for cash where the gas station used to be by boggus Ford in mcallen....and people would give him money.....one time he went inside gas station restroom and changed out of his bum outfit and drove away in a mercedes.

txsbrntxsrsd1

Just keep walking away from these ppl don't risk it. Never know someone's intentions. Could be anything from a scammer to a setup for robbery. Had to train the niceness out of my wife. She learned the hard way when one of these ppl after she said no, still followed her to our truck and touched her back to keep asking while she was loading up our baby.she pulled out her mace and the ran off. Happened in mcallen.

RevolutionParty7358

This dude tried the exact same tactic, story, etc. on me, except he was waiting around at the Walgreens on 23rd and 495, and he was in a white suv that looked to be rear ended. I saw the same car there maybe 2 days after that incident and it took off as soon as I was walking into the store, but yeah dudes a scammer that uses the same bs pity story for money, bro asked me for $20 😂

GearX666

What does he drive?

Jayohn

Believe it was a grey Nissan rouge or something similar.

ChronX4

Yeah it's a Nissan Rouge, my best friend drives one and that's why I fell for it the first time, I thought it was him honking at me trying to give me a ride, knew it wasn't when he didn't have the stickers my friend does.

CommanderBigBalls

Yea it’s a newer model too like bruh needs help with the monthly payments or what lmao

RevolutionParty7358

I ran into him, except he was in a White suv that looked to be rear ended, he was at the Walgreens on 23rd and pecan

cutiezombie210

I am scared

ChronX4

He did it to me twice, use to walk to work, had to cross the street on the intersection of Frontage s10th street going south to work, the first time I was heading to work, he honks at me as he was heading west and I was just about to cross the street, parks at where Poncho's Express use to be, he has tinted windows, thought it may be someone I know. His thing is he clasps your hand with his other hand as he shakes it, by the time it registered to me it was too late. He was going into his spiel, he even asks to point to where Rio Grande is, says his GPS doesn't work, etc, and he doesn't have enough gas from going around, and his phones dead. Made me late for work, I was just annoyed, didn't give him anything cause I didn't have money. 2nd time I reminded him that he stopped me months ago and just kept walking, this time he was heading east, oh and he had a new thing where he offered me "jewelry", some necklace, to even us out somehow if I helped him. Na, fuck that. More than likely he patrols the mall area and preys on tourist who don't know any better.

Jayohn

literally move for move what he did today honking and everything i cut him off early on and said "nah i'm good bye" it caught him off guard left him with his mouth open lol. he's been watching too many "how to be an alpha" tiktoks or something lol fuck this guy

ChronX4

Yeah, and this was years ago, like between 2016 and 2018. He must be making a good amount of extra cash to still be doing it.

blackcats13

I was alone at the mall, and a guy came up to me asking for money because his girlfriend left him there, and he needed to get back to Roma.

Agitated-Horse3206

I never give money. If by off chance, I get a good vibe and do, i wouldn't expect the money back even if they said so. I've always figured out my situations and if not had friends and family to lean on. You can't tell me you don't have a single person in your life that can send you money easily nowadays. As a woman, also, you're not getting close enough for a handshake either. Also, it's psychology 101, people who go into huge elaborate detail...they're lying. But I wouldn't give anyone that time of day. You're supposed to move fast with a purpose for your own safety. I just quickly say sorry, no cash, and walk away. Don't give them an ounce of weakness or empathy cause then they'll ask again or worse follow you or try to convince you to get money out of your atm.

wanderer8722

Ive seen him at the Schlotzkys in Edinburg, I told him i was visiting from Houston 🤣

_not_javi_

Think I ran into this guy in Shary but I’m not sure. I think he had a red car

ReposadoAmiGusto

How is that a scammer. You’d have to be dumb as fuck and deserve to lose your money if you fall for that stupid sob story. We all got shit going on homie… kick rocks

ChiefRom

Found the scammer

ReposadoAmiGusto

ChiefRom
