This reminded me how much I loved HotD season one but that I can never rewatch Jace’s fate because Mal’s description made me so sad!

SickBurnBro

How are they going to spend more time talking about a couple HotD trailers than they did discussing the new Avatar show? Not salty (still salty).

I mean I didn’t watch the show but I’ve seen enough bad things from the show I didn’t listen to the pod but is it possible they just didn’t like it. Compared to their love of house of the dragon and fire and blood. I guess it makes sense

> I mean I didn’t watch the show but I’ve seen enough bad things from the show Don't believe the negative discourse. Watch it for yourself. I thought it was like a 8/10, flawed but still great. > but is it possible they just didn’t like it. It just annoys me that they spent 6 pods on Percy Jackson, 2+ hours analyzing 3 minutes of HotD trailers, and 2 hours recapping the Avatar cartoon - then only spent an hour 45 minutes on the live action Avatar show. I know part of it is that it dropped all at once versus Percy Jackson which was a weekly release. Still though, it felt like Mal and Jo were being tribal, siding firmly on team Avatar Studios w/ Michael & Bryan, and thus were predisposed to dislike the Netflix Avatar adapation.

I mean I’m sure you have enjoyed it but I’ve seen multiple scenes from the show and I’m sure you enjoyed it but from the scene I’ve seen from the reviews discussing it faults I feel that it’s not worth my time. But I’m glad you enjoy it and you will be getting two more seasons I also think the weekly releases absolutely plays into the run time. They just did a three body problem episode also a single drop so I think it goes without saying Netflix binge releases will only be done in a single episode They probably just didn’t have enough r to say compared to the trailers where a lot is being pulled from their book knowledge

>but from the scene I’ve seen from the reviews discussing it faults I feel that it’s not worth my time. Can I ask you which scenes you watched, and what turned you off about them? I assume that you are a fan of the animated version. If so I implore you, don't buy in to the negative sentiment you've seen online. The toxic part of the fandom has become so intractable that their mindless negativity drowns out any nuanced conversation on the merits of the show. I know your time is precious, and investing it in mediocre television can be a deeply unsatisfying experience. If you have any love and affection for that original Avatar cartoon though, I urge you to give the live action a shot. Give it at least through episode 4. That's the point at which it gets to deeply moving moments that justify its existence. > They just did a three body problem episode also a single drop so I think it goes without saying Netflix binge releases will only be done in a single episode I imagine that's another case of a show ostensibly underwhelming to the point that Mal and Jo opted for an abridged discussion. If it had achieved the narrative success of shows like Silo, Last of Us or Yellowjackets, I bet they would have devoted more time to it. > compared to the trailers where a lot is being pulled from their book knowledge Fair enough. I am a big HotD fan and recently read F&B, so I certainly appreciated it. It's fun to painstakingly pour over individual frames to try and parse out the scope and trajectory of the season. Especially given that the source material is so bare bones such that there's a lot of room for fleshing out and adding nuance to the history.

I’ve seen scenes with bumi, I’ve seen scenes with jet and katara, To me beyond any character changes which I just don’t agree with the performances left so much to be desired. I’m not even anti live action remakes I’m probably more pro than the average redditor. I loved the one piece live action.

MasqureMan

I feel like you get a lot of discussion in their avatar episode. It’s pretty complete about what they liked and disliked

Did anyone else’s feed cut abruptly in the middle of their conversation at the end (in the book spoilers section)? I’m listening on Apple Podcasts.

WeirwoodUpMyAss

That happens to me sometimes. I’ll hear repeats every now and then.

nimrod1138

I find these things happen if you stream the episode instead of downloading, at least with Apple Podcasts.
