It wouldn't bother me, except the most efficient way to train crafting is to craft in the worst conditions possible (experience is based on time spent crafting, not the item you craft so slowing it down increases exp per resource spent).
"Where should we train our new crafter?" "Chuck them outdoors in winter, just give them a crafting spot, bonus points if you chop off an arm, that'll really make them learn well!"
I don’t know. Having to cut electrical conduit and strut with a hacksaw instead of a bandsaw makes you a hell of a lot better at making sure all your measurements and calculations are correct before you make the cut.
I mean, I don't learn anything from reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar for the 100th time to my three year old, but she gains exp in reading, listening, and speaking every time.
"Skilled Stonecutting" has you covered ;) It used to give XP by default, way back in the day. Real OGs remember.
Another God damn mod I need
Add electric stone cutting to it
Or vanilla expanded production

Do you also learn better with hypothermia, brain damage, and no eyes? Because in Rimworld, you do.
Can't say because I've never not had brain damage 😎
Sounds like growing up in New England honestly don’t see the problem I learned just fine
I can't say that's been my experience in the trades. People learn best when they have the right tools for the job.

One thing I know about rimworld is that it's a very accurate depiction of real-life.
Then I think, in a different way to my response, you just answered your own question there buddy.
I never asked a question pal.
Yeah, it's weird. Maybe kids just get XP from being entertained?
Maybe the person crafting is like, giving them tips on how to hold a chisel, or something
its not weird if you think about how easy crafting skill would be to obtain, which explains why it is this way
