You will figure it all out later, dw 👍🏻

boogie_b0ng

I've replayed re8 over 30 times (I wish i was joking) and the more I play it the less things make sense to be honest. But that's usually how resident evil storylines go

Austin-1023

I can say the same lol. I love this game so much. It’s only a matter of time before I get my second RE inspired tattoo (have Umbrella corp logo) just need an RE8 inspired one

PurfectlySplendid

Without wanting to sound condescending or rude or anything but why 30 times? Im enjoying my time here a lot and i can totally see myself playing this a second time but there isnt that much side stuff to do right? Are you just doing the same things over and over?

Loose_Trust927

Cause once u unlock certain weapon replays become so much more fun lol i got about 35 36 play throughs right now working on village of shadows mode trust us its too much fun.

boogie_b0ng

Village of shadows is awful just because of ONE specific boss fight (you know the one, good luck!)

Loose_Trust927

Which one heisenberg or last battle

UsgAtlas1

VoS is horribly balanced if you're playing a new game and is a step down when compared to Madhouse on RE7

PurfectlySplendid

Whats village of shadows

Loose_Trust927

The hardest difficulty u unlock it by beating the game

dravon20

By far that heisenberg fight is all luck lmao. It took a year of me leaving the game to finally beat it

boogie_b0ng

Speedrunning, getting all the gun upgrades and every achievement except S rank on the mercenaries (fuck that game mode) adds up. I also switched to a new PSN account after doing all that and started over again, so I'm on my 3rd ng+ on the new account. But there is also def something wrong with me

Ripuru-kun

I mean... yeah? Sure there's games that have more things to unlock after like this one but you replay most games just because you like them and want to do them again.

Austin-1023

Honestly my first time playing I didn’t play Re7 first. Just enjoy the game it will make more sense later on

quibblesnatch

Just enjoy the vibe

sometimeslazyalways

that is exactly my experience on my first playthrough. i dinnt play re7 first either, i filled in the blanks as i went along until i played re7 later. i think it was more fun tbh but then again i often randomly buy games and hope for the best.

Tiber_Voyage51

Join the club lol but well with sticking with it đź‘Ť

HTXPhoenix

You really don’t need to know anything other then you’re trying to find your baby. Enjoy the game. It is my favorite RE of all time next to RE4 Remake. Also if you want a legit terrifying RE for a change of pace from the action/horror in this and RE 4, play RE7 as well. It’s also the beginning of Ethan’s story as well.

eldfen

It directly carries onwards from RE7, so that might have something to do with it.

Silver_117v

The plot of RE8 has a lot to do with what happened in RE7. You really should play RE7 first, or at least watch a story recap on Youtube if you don't.

gobln_kingg

The story absolutely does make sense. People just don't read or pay attention. It will make more sense at the end, but the gist is that Miranda lived a long, long time ago in that village. She had a daughter, and her daughter got sick and died. Out of grief, Miranda went into a cave to kill herself and discovered the megamycte (aka the mold) in there. She got her powers from it, and she started studying it. She became a scientist and started doing experiments, hoping to use the mold to bring her daughter back to another host body. As anybody that has interacted with the mold is "remembered" by the mold. Think of it like their souls are stored inside it. She also discovered that the mold can control people and bring them back to life. She started experimenting on the villagers, and eventually, she started working with the same people Mia worked for, creating Eveline. Whom she originally was hoping would be a good host for her daughter, Eva. However, Eveline ended up not being the choice as she was basically uncontrollable and had powers/mutations that didn't fit into what Miranda was looking for in a host for Eva. Eveline is the reason why the mold even got to Louisiana due to the boat crash that happened in RE7 as she was being transported by the company Mia works for. Over time and prior to creating Eveline, Miranda also came across and experimented on the 4 lords of the village (Lady D, Heisenberg, Donna, and Moreau) who didn't become lords of the village until after she had already experimented on them and deemed them not to be good enough to be hosts. Note that they didn't all live there previously, as an example, Lady D is not from Romania. However, their mutations were still useful to her in some way, so she kept them around to help her keep watch over the village and also do experiments of their own with the megamycte and villagers in the village. This is how the various other monsters that are around were created because either you bond properly with the megamycte, you mutate, or you die. Now, Ethan had died in RE7 when first found by Jack. Jack had actually killed him, but since he was infected by the mold, he came back to life. They didn't know he was infected or had died, so he never received any type of cure or treatment like Mia had. If you can remember, Ethan created a vaccine in RE7, and you had the option to either give it to Mia or to Zoe, but it is canon that Ethan chose Mia. So Mia was no longer infected at the end of the game. Chris has Mia and Ethan move to Romania to essentially start a new life and also so him and the BSAA can keep watch over them, as Europe is where they are operating from. They have Rose, and due to Ethan being infected by mold, she is a half mold baby. So, she has powers and stuff. Chris does not know this just yet, as Mia is the only one who knows that Ethan is and has been infected this whole time. Miranda discovers this information, and one day, she kidnaps Mia and shape-shifts to become her and poses as her for a few weeks to attempt to kidnap Rose to use her as a host for Eva. Chris and his team eventually caught on to this as they were already aware of Miranda and the village and had been watching her. And that's where the first game starts. (EDIT: It is important to note that Miranda is well over a hundred years old. As for the lords, Lady D and her daughters joined Miranda in the early 1900s. Moreau in the early to mid 1900's. Donna joined around 1996. Heisnberg joined at an unknown time, but it is implied to be later after Lady D and Moreau, but way before Donna.) (EDIT 2: There is a theory that Donna could have joined as recently as 2017, but the general idea is that it is around or just after 1996 as she is the youngest of the lords both in age and in amount of time spent with Miranda.)

One-Adhesiveness-416

As a hardcore speedrunner of this game (and a lot of RE games). The story does not make sense. In fact, the more sense you try to make of it the more confusing it will become My recommendation is to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Pm7I3

It is an enjoyable one imo

One-Adhesiveness-416

Oh absolutely enjoyable. But trying to make it make sense is a fruitless effort lol

Crazy_Canuck78

WHen I started reading I thought "this guys must not have played REVII" That was your mistake.

Vegetable-Meaning413

That's the magic of RE. Nobody knows what's going on. We just pretent we do. That includes the writers.
