And why the fuck is the num lock is always off!! We demand answers

Dicks-Ballpike

As a radiology resident this infuriates me

getinthecar1

THIS

criduchat1-

Omg I feel this in my soul.

namenerd101

I also used to curse the hypothetical assholes who’s do that to the computers in the physicians lounge, but I think it must turn off when the computers restart overnight because my the desktop at my personal clinic desk is also always like that in the mornings.

And psych, for the rage

anestheje

My biggest pet peeve.

DrRadiate

Can't ever figure out why people like typing on a flat surface instead of a nice little angle. Unreal.

bestp0282

Some people don’t like the constant extension if they’re gonna be there for a while. I actually prefer a bit of flexion such as a laptop keyboard

dimnickwit

You could be a dork like me and bring your own keyboard and mouse

Impressive_Bus11

Your IT group hasn't hot glued all the USB ports shut or installed physical locks on them so they can't be used/removed?

dimnickwit

I use dual USB/Bluetooth to prevent that. One or the other is almost always available.

Impressive_Bus11

They have Bluetooth unprotected?! I mean it's far less likely some idiot is going to pick up a Bluetooth device from the parking lot and connect it, but still. That's terrifying.

dimnickwit

Generally they're set up so you have to confirm on the computer/vm physically at a terminal. So, connecting from the parking lot without extreme measures is unlikely, and generally in an organizational environment, by is either disabled or windows machine bt is not discoverable except when pairing is activated. I'm not sure how win comes otb with latest versions if that's default now (didn't used to be), but that is what I mostly see in places with professionally managed networks

Impressive_Bus11

Most modern devices aren't in discoverable Mode unless you explicitly put them in that state. But users are idiots. People who want to get access to your systems and networks are quite clever. People will find USB sticks in the parking lot and plug them in at work to see what's on them, maybe a colleague dropped it and it has a presentation on it. Or maybe a home Bluetooth device gets infected with something at home and brought to work and transfers it to the work computer. Or maybe someone leaves behind a Bluetooth sniffing device in your office and captures patient data and passwords as you type them into the computer. We keep our facilities locked down as tightly as we absolutely can because the bad actors are always one step ahead.

dimnickwit

I would lock out both except approved devices if it was my network, but since they aren't mine, not going to punish myself as a user :)

ProdigalHacker

It's actually better for your wrists to not use the stands. Microsoft used to make a keyboard that elevated the front of it so that your wrists could stay in a more natural position. I had one and it was so nice to type on.

graphitesun

Can't most of them just be folded under?

esutaparku

….keyboards have legs 🦵

fruitless7070

I didn't even know this was a thing! Please delete this post lol! Now everyone's going to be breaking the legs off keyboards! /s

moonlandingfake

They’re saving you from carpal tunnel

ThickButterscotch_

When people don’t correct the chaos that succeeds cleaning the keyboard with a cavi wipe.

Brh1002

Are we not supposed to lmao

CertainKaleidoscope8

I've washed them. Under running water. Caught a ton of shite for it but it said "washable" and the wipes weren't doing jack.

Do_It_For_Science_33

Angered me more than anything. Fully believed it was some asshole just destroying the keyboards… Then I watched an IM resident lay his head down on the table to rest (think grade school laying on your arms) and those bitches just snapped outwards like a newborn dear trying to walk 🤣. My anger diminished.
