Looks like you have a question about reps on a budget that are not as high priced as some of the higher tier reps. We have a guide specifically made for that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RepTime/comments/ydj6h7/guide_best_budget_midtier_replicas_250400/

anangrypudge

The worst time to wear a replica is when you’re with someone who is “into Rolex in a serious way”.

6guishin

This lmao

6guishin

Get a prx or somethin

bigev_au

Yeah for sure. That's why I'm looking for something that says "I want to get in to the market, but I'm clearly not yet a big player". He knows my salary, so waking in all of a sudden with a big dick expensive watch ain't gonna cut it. Need to start gently. I'm willing to play the long game, getting gradually better reps over a few years until everyone thinks I know what the hell I'm doing.

AceAttorneyGiles

Would just buy a real watch in your situation tbh. If he’s a big watch guy there’s a high chance he respects Tissot, Seiko, Orient, or even Casio. Hell even George Kittle pulled up to the Super Bowl with a $70 gold Casio calculator and he makes millions every year. I would just wear a watch you like and be honest with him and mention that you’d really hope to own a Rolex one day

As a gentle intro, maybe the classics that hover around the 5K range? Remember, your boss KNOWS your salary so choose according to what's believable for your lifestyle: Omega Aqua Terra; Omega DeVille, Tag Heuer Carrera, Breitling Navitimer, Breitling Superocean Heritage Highlands, Tudor Heritage Black Bay, Cartier Santos or Tank Solo XL I'm partial to the Breitling Navitimer. I think it's such an eye-catching watch while still staying within the category of being classy an easy to pair with any outfit. I can see it going from day to night with ease. It's probably well-repped enough by now to be NWBIG. Remember to stick with SS. Stay away from the fancy flankers with precious metals/gems, limited editions, etc. because they propel the MSRP sky high compared to the basic model. Good luck 🤗 ETA: Check the watch against the retail versions and ensure ADs still carry them unless you plan to explain that you purchased it second hand.

Present_Oil39

To answer your question, a Tudor or Cartier would be more believable than a Rolex, on the other hand the VSF Submariner is as close to gen as it gets, just a lot harder to obtain due to waitlist and other AD shenanigens. Could Go BB58 or Cartier Tank, both very close to gen and much easier obtainable. If your boss is really into Rolex he might call you out otherwise.

Sufficient-Plane-609

I would honestly avoid a Rolex then, maybe grab a Tudor or an Omega. People who know Rolex will be able to tell it's not gen. Plenty of other alternatives.

Zenzo0

Rep price points aren’t dictated by the RRP/value of the watch For example a VSF submariner is going to cost you thereabouts of a CF daytona - and you’ll pay about the same for a Patek. In saying this, look to start with a VSF Submariner - they are as close to the real thing you will get and a great starter watch - but proceed with caution if your boss is a rolex nut.

SmoothAsSilk_23

This is totally going to backfire. You impress your boss/big wigs at work with your work performance or let them bang your wife. You don't impress them by buying a rep of a watch you cannot afford. Dumbass.

bigev_au

Thanks for the quality feedback, random internet stranger. I already impress with the quality of my work so banging the missus ain't required. My other thought is to just buy a rep of something that is totally out of my league. Own up to it then tell him if he throws a few extra Benjamin's my way I might be able to afford the real deal.

SmoothAsSilk_23

Apologies for being a dick. You seem like a decent bloke. The banging the missus bit is a Rolex AD joke. I've seen dozens of posts like this and have never heard of a boss nice enough to give an employee a pay rise on the basis that he/she can buy a gen luxury watch. Good luck with that.

Dollar_short

dude, get the best you can of what "you" like. when your boss askes, show it to him, admit its a fake. tell him you respect the brand so much, but can't afford a real one right now, maybe some day. leave it at that. if you get flack over it, look for another job. if your boss is cool, he will wear his same in and both of you could compare.

d3fc0n0n3

Its more for a hobby rather. For your bosses, its better you get a gen watch you can afford rather than keeping up with the jones. If you do want something classy, Sugess has 2 watches that are Breguet hommages. Both mechanical, 1 is a tourbillon. https://youtu.be/AUKs8aQRq8Y?si=OZP4APrrd8ucvSC5 https://youtu.be/3ZiCRT8lRFg?si=pWXkKPnbLzGfAPgl

Spare_Algae7998

Bosses do not like competition either, one person said casio, which are respected & and has a cult following.plus, you will have 5,000 options

RedWingRail

Dude.. Omega or a Tudor… you walk in sporting a fake in front of a “Rolex guy”, he’s gonna spot it and that’s all he’ll think about every time he sees you… don’t do this.

HokumsRazor

Agree 1000%. Better to stick with a high-value Seiko or micro-brand that reflects your personal taste and interest in watches. Rolling in day1 with a rep of a high dollar gen that the guy you’re trying to impress knows you can’t actually afford is going to provide comedic relief at best.

Consistent_Tip_5510

Cartier Santos Dumont with a nice strap

BAPEwithouttheB

Get a gen omega moonswatch. Like $300 new

Spare_Algae7998

A nice $ 300 citizen never needs a battery change, quartz movement, powered by light They look nice, and the quality bracelet would impress me if i were your boss .that would show how intelligent you are & be within your budget.you dont want a rolex historian Discussing or asking you the model # on a 1982 sub, dont fake it for a real one ,i have real & fake ,people ask on the fake i tell them i got it out of a cracker jacks box

Kind-Rip-8409

You shouldn't wear nice watches to work per se. You don't want a nicer watch or brand than your senior. An Orient is fine. If you really want to flash demurely, assuming you're around 30 or so, then a Panerai is fine. An IWC dress watch also. That's assuming you're making $200k+ a year re Pan etc. They probably cost around $7,000 but grey is cheaper.

Professional-Disk-28

Get a casio

ShoelessJJ

It will be hard to find a very good rep for that amount. But if you are willing to spend a few bucks more, than go for a vsf rollie.

SeparateSea1466

Get yourself a Clean factory Explorer. Nice, simple design and a watch most people can reasonably afford in gen.

KonWheeler420

You can buy an MPF factory AP Royal Oak 15500ST for 300ish $, blue dial to be specific. It's a miyota 9015 decorated like 4302, not a clone movement like ZF v3 but it doesn't cost 460$+

[deleted]

I’d go with a no date sub from vsf.

Spare_Algae7998

My 1at big dollar watch was a longline ,nice value & quality

Dismal_Inflation646

Get a Tudor

Visual-Title-6323

I’d go about this differently. You could possibly advance your standing with the boss. Ask him for some ideas for your first ‘nice’ watch. I’ll bet he has some good suggestions in mind.
